Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 446: Chapter 446 Inside the Spider’s Web, Only the Spider Remains Safe

The Mother Spider was referring to that group of people; that means the Female Warrior didn’t come to this Underground Maze alone...

But why, apart from the Female Warrior, were there no others being manipulated?

From Mother Spider’s words, one could infer that entering the third level would seem to trigger a certain mechanism, causing one to be unable to escape the Underground Maze.

Yang Yu’s face was expressionless as he questioned, ”Did you intentionally let us into the third level?”

”I didn’t want to let you in either; it was you who were looking for death. I already warned you once, if you had listened to me at that time, things wouldn’t have developed to this point.”

Mother Spider’s voice was extremely displeased, and Yang Yu sensed something,

”It looks like you don’t want to fight either. If we stay and fight, you’ll also have to take some risks, right? You’d get trapped in this Underground Maze as well?”

”Exactly, we would be trapped here too,” Mother Spider didn’t hide, ”If you hadn’t insisted on breaking into the third level, my offspring would have already gone out to feed in the night.

And now, I can only let my newborn children continue to defend and feed during the day.”

”Speaking of which, I have barely seen your offspring until now. You’re letting them ambush us somewhere, aren’t you? That’s truly despicable.”

”When it comes to baseness, I am no match for you humans. Human cunning is something I have seen.”

Mother Spider shook her severed eighth leg at Yang Yu; it didn’t actively offer that spider leg to that female warrior as a weapon,

”That female warrior and her companions used a very despicable method to cut off one of my legs and wanted to kill me for no reason.

That’s why I was determined not to devour that woman in one gulp, and I left her alive, turning her into my puppet, to drive at my will.

And before the poison blinded her eyes, I fed her companions to my eager offspring, letting her witness the consequences of her actions.

The poison gradually invaded her body, turning her into a hopeless wreck, and this took only a month’s time.

You must suffer the same torment as she did.”

A month’s time?

Yang Yu frowned slightly, Jiao Sha had said that he had witnessed with his own eyes this Underground Maze being born from the desert one or two weeks ago.

A month... the timing didn’t quite match up.

Combining what Mother Spider had just said, could it be...

Yang Yu’s frown deepened as he confirmed his thoughts with Mother Spider,

”Once someone accepts the trial and enters the third level of this Underground Maze, the entrance is buried by the desert, and you guardians cannot go out to hunt.

Is this the blockade you’re worried about and talking about?”

”You really are smart,” Mother Spider did not deny, ”Last time, it was because we were waiting for those adventurers to come to the third level that the entrance got buried by the sands.

Apart from my newborns, who can roam freely in the sand, none could go out to hunt and had to barely survive by eating those adventurers.

”Poor little creatures of mine, barely brought into this world, now already bearing the tasks of hunting and vigilance.

Blame yourselves; it was one of you who strayed into my children’s watchful domain! My offspring did nothing wrong; they merely carried out the tasks assigned to them.”

Yang Yu responded indifferently, ”So, you still haven’t told me whether your children were indeed ambushing us.”

”For them, this place is too dangerous. I wouldn’t let them get involved in battles.

Thanks to that great being’s blessing, my newly born offspring possess exceptional Wisdom, and they can instinctively use the Poison Liquid in their bodies.

They all have a bright future ahead. I made the right choice to serve that person.”

The massive Mother Spider, dragging her golden-hued body, crawled towards Yang Yu,

”You have nowhere to escape now. Since you’ve chosen to fight, then come! Your bodies ought to become our sustenance for a while until the Underground Maze reopens!”

Yang Yu sighed deeply, looking at the Mother Spider,

”Since you’re intent on dooming me, can’t you tell me who exactly this ’great person’ you speak of is? Let me die knowing.”

The Mother Spider gave a hissing laugh, ”At this point, there’s no use talking about that. You’d be better off struggling a bit more; maybe then I won’t find this boring!”

Seeing the Spider Mother’s tight lips, Yang Yu abandoned the idea of coaxing more information from her, and called Bai Jin, Iyas, and He Meng,

”Get ready for the battle! Don’t forget what I mentioned earlier. Iyas, don’t engage in combat at will; your light is crucial to us!”

After reiterating the instructions to Iyas, Yang Yu charged at the Mother Spider, only to see that she spewed a stream of Poison Liquid from her mouth, shooting it towards him.

He Meng swiftly spread out his body, and the Poison Liquid, like ink flooding into a barrel, entered his body, inflating him like a tire filled with air.

He Meng leaped onto a black pawn, squeezing the Poison Liquid out like a sponge and expelled it towards a white square.

Moving swiftly along the empty spaces, Yang Yu rushed towards the Mother Spider, only to see the Spider Mother shoot out a mass of web from her abdomen. She lifted her forelimb, the threads sweeping over her Poison Teeth, instantly dyeing them a thick purple.

Each thread traced beautiful parabolas through the air; Yang Yu used the chess pieces at the front of the board to dodge.

He Meng attempted to block this attack with his body, but although he was Immune to Toxin, he wasn’t immune to the stickiness of the threads.

Within the web, only spiders can maneuver without harm.

As the poisoned threads made contact with He Meng, they seemed to be influenced by some mysterious force, coiling numerous times around him, eventually wrapping He Meng into a cocoon.

Bai Jin and Iyas stepped back. The threads hadn’t reached them, and Iyas, following Yang Yu’s instructions, held up the Holy Light Ball as high as possible, allowing the Holy Light to stand in for the Star Sky ceiling and illuminate the level.

The bright Holy Light didn’t discomfort the Mother Spider. For her, accustomed to the desert, facing the glaring sunlight and the reflective sand was daily life; she had long cultivated keen eyesight amid the dunes.

Her eight eyes locked onto the incoming Yang Yu, the Mother Spider swung her front limbs towards him.

Yang Yu lifted his Shield, launching a Shield Counter; spurs grew on the shield, and as the Mother Spider’s limb touched it, a red electric current traveled from her limb to her heart, eliciting a faint scream from her.
