Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 439: Chapter 439: Snake, Shut Your Mouth

Yang Yu shared his thoughts with the others.

Frowning, even though Qing Shi rummaged through his memories, he couldn’t find any creature matching what Yang Yu described. It seemed, not even his father, who had been working for nearly thirty years, had heard of such a creature in the desert.

”Don’t be discouraged. You said the vast desert could present all sorts of surprises. Isn’t this the surprise you were talking about?”

Yang Yu, with a calm face, kicked the sand and began burying the corpse of the Desert Golden Python.

”What that thing looks like, we can only know by seeing it ourselves. We can’t make the Special Detoxification Medicine, so there’s no way to save your father. The key now is how to capture the parasitic creature lurking in the snake’s mouth.”

Relaxing his furrowed brow, Qing Shi nodded and firmly positioned himself at the front of the team again, using a long stick to touch the sand, searching for the Desert Golden Python and the Underground Maze his father had once mentioned.

Soon, Qing Shi keenly sensed a spreading magic power in the vast desert, which exactly matched the magic power emitted by the Underground Maze in his memory.

Following this magic force forward, after a few steps, Bai Jin also sensed the magic power emanating from the Underground Maze.

Stepping onto a towering sand dune, they saw a square platform glowing orange in the distance.

The platform was spotless, except for the entrance; every other place resembled a black mirror, surrounded by towering sand dunes that seemed ready to engulf the platform with a gust of wind and completely bury the Underground Maze.

”The platform is protected by a Magic Barrier.”

Bai Jin pointed around the platform, gesturing with her hands to outline the approximate location of the barrier.

In the desert where magic was hard to sense, the barrier, which gathered magic to form, was particularly conspicuous in Bai Jin’s perception.

”It seems that because of that barrier, the sand dunes haven’t swallowed the Underground Maze yet.”

Drawing upon her own stored magic power, Bai Jin launched three pure Magic Missiles towards the barrier, which exploded in mid-air as if colliding with something.

A faint yellow light rippled along the barrier, flashing by momentarily.

Everyone had a certain judgment about the general range of the barrier.

Step by step, they approached the Underground Maze, with Qing Shi at the forefront, prodding the sandy ground with his stick. Suddenly, the familiar sensation returned under his foot,

”Here it comes!”

Before Qing Shi could finish, another golden figure burst from the nearby sand dune towards him.

This time, Yang Yu was prepared; he shifted his body to shield Qing Shi, swinging the Sword Blade at the long snake. The snake bizarrely adjusted its posture in mid-air, avoiding Yang Yu’s attack.

The familiar flowing sensation came again from underfoot, and Qing Shi, crouching and covering his head, shouted nervously,

”There’s another one!”

At that moment, another golden figure shot out like lightning from behind Yang Yu.

Taking a deep breath and turning nimbly on the sandy ground, Yang Yu deployed the Illusion Shield, blocking the first snake while swinging his Sword Blade at the other.

The snake in mid-air slammed its head onto Yang Yu’s shield, disoriented for a moment. Only then did it think to use the angle of Yang Yu’s shield to climb upwards, but this played right into Yang Yu’s hands.

Seizing the opportunity, Iyas once again used the ”Guaranteed Hit Arrow”; the arrow cut across the sky, instantly striking the snake on Yang Yu’s shield and carrying it away.

The parasitic creature in the snake’s mouth was likely to escape using the sand just as it had done before. It was an unavoidable matter; capturing just one would be enough.

Yang Yu did not look at the snake that had been dealt with but rather at the one skillfully dodging his attacks in the air.

He bravely took three steps back, plunged his sword blade into the sand with his right hand, and tossed the shield onto the sand with his left, freeing it.

After confirming the way the Desert Golden Python twisted in the air, Yang Yu’s left hand reached out for the Desert Golden Python.

Seeing Yang Yu recklessly stretch out his hand toward it, the Desert Golden Python immediately opened its mouth.

Inside the mouth of the Desert Golden Python, there was a creature curled up.

Unexpectedly to Yang Yu, the parasitic creature inside the snake’s mouth was a golden spider with eight black legs.

With eight legs, all clad in black silk, it really was a treat for stay-at-home men.

However, Yang Yu didn’t think anyone could charge... at a spider.

The spider’s abdomen emitted a large amount of silk, sticking to the Desert Golden Python’s throat, leaving only a small hole for the python to breathe through.

Two long silks also hung from the spider’s poison teeth, connecting to the Desert Golden Python’s fangs, and a stroke of purple color traveled from the tips of the poison teeth along the silks into the two fangs of the Desert Golden Python.

Being bitten would surely result in poisoning like in Jiao Sha, but it seemed like there was no way for Yang Yu to dodge.

Just in the nick of time, numerous thorns grew from underneath Yang Yu’s feet. The thorns interlaced, trapping the Desert Golden Python in the middle, and Yang Yu violently reached out and grasped the snake’s head while pulling out the sword from the sand.

Yang Yu used his index finger and thumb to press on the upper and lower jaws of the python, trying to force it to close its mouth and trap the spider inside.

But, in this brief moment of respite, the Black-footed Spider used the snake’s mouth like a trampoline, its silk threads from the poison teeth turning into two elastic rubber bands.

Before Yang Yu could completely close the python’s mouth, the spider shot out of the snake’s mouth toward the sandy ground.

Yang Yu tried to intercept it with his sword, but the spider’s speed was too fast; Yang Yu missed it by a centimeter.

During its shot, the Black-footed Spider quickly drew in the silk used for anchoring, chewed it into a ball, swallowed it, and safely landed on the sandy ground.

It rapidly moved its eight long black legs, cutting through the sand and diving straight for the barrier.

Disposing the blind python to the side, Yang Yu wanted to follow, but it was already too late.

The spider contracted its eight legs, forming into a wheel using the slope like a tire, and rolled straight toward the entrance of the Underground Maze.

Unable to catch up, Yang Yu stopped and helplessly watched the spider climb the platform and enter the Underground Maze.

Seeing the full form of the spider, Qing Shi furrowed his brows, expressing disbelief,

”It can’t be. It can’t be that one. How could it be?”

Yang Yu sheathed his sword, picked up the shield, and patted Qing Shi on the shoulder, ”It seems, you recognize this creature?”

”I do know, but such a demon shouldn’t have those habits. Such a small juvenile should always stay by its mother’s side. How could it enter the Desert Golden Python’s mouth and take control of it? Could I be mistaken?”
