Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 427: Chapter 427: Cheng Yaojin Appears Midway

Yang Yu appeared just in time, and Asuna felt a surge of joy from the bottom of her heart, but after searching everywhere for Hake’s figure, a sense of loss also welled up within her, and she shook her head in resignation,

”This time, I couldn’t save Hake either? No choice, I’ll ask Yang Yu about the details later, for now, I need to concentrate on dealing with that guy.”

Looking at the spherical object in her hands, Bai Jin revealed a tired smile, finding that the tactic of using questions to delay time was quite effective. To be honest, Bai Jin had been prepared for the possibility that the sphere could be taken away from the outset.

Regardless of whether a battle occurred or not, Kenro had set his sights on them and would not easily let them go; that item would eventually end up in his hands.

In that case, it would be better to feign weakness intentionally—while delaying time, she would try to extract information from Kenro’s mouth.

Intuition told Bai Jin that if Yang Yu faced a similar situation, he would definitely make a similar choice.

Yang Yu did not disappoint her; he always managed to arrive just in the nick of time.

Just when the item was within reach, Cheng Yaojin appeared out of nowhere, causing Kenro’s lips to twitch,

”How on earth did you manage to escape their pursuit...”

”Before you ask, why don’t you take a look for yourself? How about that?”

Yang Yu interrupted Kenro, removing his bird beak mask and curving his lips into a smile with an arc to it.

Kenro closed his eyes, attempting to sense the spiritual bodies of Bu Yao Lianzi and Asuna.

These two spiritual bodies had been obtained from the remnants provided by the Silver Orchid Commerce; they harbored a strong hatred towards those who intruded into the Silver Orchid Commerce and would absolutely not let any invaders go. Moreover, since he had enhanced their abilities, there was no way Yang Yu could easily escape the pursuit of the spiritual bodies.

Connecting to the spiritual bodies’ vision, Kenro immediately felt as if his whole body was catching fire. Enduring this sensation, he expanded his range of perception and, to his surprise, discovered a short-haired elf boy with drooping shoulders, placing his hands on the bound spiritual bodies and slowly purifying them.

Although Hake’s inner Holy Light was far from comparable to Asuna’s, he was also a ”Blessed by the Goddess, level 5,” and naturally had the ability to use Holy Light.

In fact, at the beginning, Hake didn’t know how to utilize the Holy Light power within him, but during his time with the Sunrise Chamber of Commerce, the trainers constantly forced elf boys and girls like Hake to learn knowledge related to Holy Light.

The Sunrise Chamber of Commerce firmly believed that elves with healing abilities would be extremely popular, as they not only could provide their masters with buffs to recover stamina but also could be useful in some unexpected places.

When Yang Yu was escaping with Hake, he mentioned offhandedly that if he knew how to use Holy Light, combat might become a bit easier.

Hearing Yang Yu say this, Hake—who always felt he was not very useful—immediately claimed to have learned some Holy Light techniques and wished to help Yang Yu see if he could trap that powerful spiritual entity.

Seeing the spiritual entity formed by the combination of Asuna and Bu Yao Lianzi getting closer and closer, Yang Yu had no choice but to give it a try.

First, he set Hake down, then with agile footwork, he dodged the spiritual entity’s attacks, confirming that the spiritual entity truly had a solid form; Yang Yu then used ropes from all directions, binding Asuna and Bu Yao Lianzi’s spiritual entities like wrapping rice dumplings.

Wrapped in a blanket, with hands touching the eerie spiritual bodies, Hake infused Holy Light into them. The spiritual bodies stopped struggling upon receiving the Holy Light and began to gradually dissipate into the air.

However, the dissipation was just too slow; judging by the rate at which the spiritual entity was losing blood, it would take at least half an hour—a duration that could change many things.

Yang Yu fell into contemplation, considering how to dispose of the troublesome ghosts quickly, and headed towards Bai Jin and Asuna.

Before Yang Yu could ponder any longer, a distant roar from Lotcar came from afar, causing Yang Yu’s brows to furrow slightly.

At that moment, Hake spoke as if he had seen through Yang Yu’s thoughts,

”Doctor, leave this place to me alone.

Don’t worry, I can tell the spiritual body is after you. Even if something unexpected happens, it will definitely target you first.

And don’t worry about me being captured by those people again. During the year I was brought into the Human World, I’ve learned quite a lot and can adequately protect myself.”

Hake was much more sensible than Iyas, and although Yang Yu hesitated, he eventually chose to trust Hake. After giving Hake some life-saving items, he immediately jumped onto the branches to assess the situation with Bai Jin and the others.

Confirming that Lotcar was fleeing, Yang Yu immediately chased in the direction of Lotcar’s escape. At the critical moment, he used ”Support” to appear next to Bai Jin and her companions, snatching back the orb.

Bai Jin had once told Yang Yu that she also had tasks she wanted to complete and hoped to do so while adventuring with Yang Yu.

For the Curse Sect to send such a person to snatch the orb, it emphasized the importance of the item. Yang Yu had long smelled the scent of a Hidden Task and would not just hand over the item on a silver platter.

Keep in mind, Yang Yu had teamed up with Bai Jin initially because of the hidden plot surrounding her.

Slowly opening his eyes, Kenro’s gaze darkened with displeasure as he reorganized the black arms,

”So it turns out like this. I really didn’t expect such a trick... The Elf Clan indeed will become our stumbling block.

Being purified is still being purified.

The task I have to do has never changed, give me back that item!”

The black arms stretched across the sky towards Yang Yu,

”Really shameless, claiming it as yours before it even reaches your hands. Then could I claim that all the treasures of the world are mine?”

Taking a deep breath, Yang Yu slipped through an opening, dodging the attacking black spiritual body and counterattacking with offense as the best defense, brandishing his sword and charging toward Kenro.

Yang Yu did not know how much longer it would take for Gordon to arrive, or if he had already arrived and was simply watching from the sidelines, waiting for the right moment to intervene.

Since counting on Gordon was futile, it would be better, as before, to use every ounce of wit to strategize and defeat the enemy at hand.

A red glow appeared in his palm, sapping Yang Yu’s life to coat his sword with a dazzling orange hue. Yang Yu executed ”Double-sided Slash,” trading his own life force for high damage output.

A black shield materialized in front of Kenro as the orange sword clashed against it. Yet eerily, Kenro’s shield made no sound upon impact, and Yang Yu’s blade failed to penetrate Kenro’s defenses.

In a brief stalemate, the black mass at Kenro’s feet suddenly erupted, and countless black tentacles, as if alive, lunged towards Yang Yu.

Yang Yu leaped backward while swinging his blade, performing a ”Horizontal Slash,” severing several tentacles and creating a gap of nearly five meters.

The black tentacles ceased their pursuit, quickly retracting into the black mass at Kenro’s feet, and the severed ones awkwardly retreated as well.

After a short bout of combat, neither side had gained the upper hand.
