Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 421: Chapter 421 Captain Gordon, Why Are You Just Watching

The black Spiritual Body swung its fists quickly, violently smashing towards Yang Yu. Yang Yu dodged to the side, allowing Bu Yao Lianzi’s fist to sink into the top of the city wall.

Seizing the opening, Yang Yu swung his sword at Bu Yao Lianzi’s waist.

A cut spread upwards from the Spiritual Body’s waist but quickly restored to its original state.

The feeling of the sword cutting through was no different from cutting through a regular person, and the blood bar above the Spiritual Body also showed damage.

The Spiritual Body released by Kenro wasn’t immune to Physical Attacks and was more akin to a summoned creature.

The Spiritual Body adjusted the direction of its punches, but Yang Yu dodged each one, the missed attacks smashing into the city walls, spreading terrifying cracks from the upper part of the wall.

Suddenly, Bu Yao Lianzi’s figure transformed into a curvaceous woman. She swung a Long Whip that turned into a vicious snake in her hand, lunging at Yang Yu.

Yang Yu raised his sword and sliced the snake in half. At that moment, the black Spiritual Body instantly switched back to Bu Yao Lianzi, his hands glowing with a crimson light, rapidly closing in on Yang Yu, unleashing a powerful ”Destruction Heavy Strike.”

Activating ”Climbing,” Yang Yu firmly planted his feet on the ground and took the hit with his chest, dropping his blood bar by one third.

Subsequently, a black shadow appeared behind Yang Yu, seeping into his sword and staining the Sword Blade black.

Yang Yu slashed through the Spiritual Body’s neck, and its head clattered to the ground, a plume of black smoke spewing from the severed neck.

The Spiritual Body paused briefly. Yang Yu shrank back, escaping the attack range of the Spiritual Body, and glanced at Kenro from the corner of his eye,

”You’ve merged two souls together? Really tough to deal with.”

Kenro seemed distracted from the start until he heard Yang Yu’s voice, then scoffed,

”The Spirits that despise you won’t just vanish like this, no matter how many times you defeat them. They will resurrect themselves through their own hatred toward you.”

No sooner had he spoken than the head of the Spiritual Body on the ground transformed into black smoke, returning to the neck and reforming Bu Yao Lianzi’s face. This posture didn’t last long before the Spiritual Body shimmered and changed back into Asuna, her whip creating a gust of wind as she lashed it towards Yang Yu.

Yang Yu stepped back, allowing the whip to fall in front of him; the next second, the whip-wielding Spiritual Body morphed back into Bu Yao and charged at Yang Yu.

Reluctantly, Yang Yu was dragged back into close-quarters combat.

”It just never ends.”

Although Yang Yu’s attacks were effective and could significantly reduce the Spiritual Body’s blood, its regenerative ability was alarmingly quick. The injuries he inflicted almost instantly healed.

What was more troublesome was that even if he managed to defeat this merged Spiritual Body, as long as the Great Priest of the Curse Sect was present, the Spiritual Body was likely to be resurrected.

Fighting such a regenerative monster was utterly pointless.

As the saying goes, ”To catch the thief, first catch the king; to shoot the man, first shoot the horse.” If the horse on the other side were gone, the Spiritual Body before him would crumble without fighting.

Yet, Yang Yu wasn’t the one who could decisively defeat Kenro.

While dodging the Spiritual Body’s attacks, Yang Yu looked up at the azure sky to pinpoint Gordon’s location.

Gordon was already hovering in mid-air far from the city wall, quietly watching Yang Yu fight, with no intention of intervening.

A thousand alpacas galloped in Yang Yu’s heart, thinking, we agreed on coordinating my escape, and you just stand by and watch like this?

”Captain Gordon, why are you just watching!

(╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻”

Gordon, suspended in the air, wore an expression that was strikingly similar to ”OVO.” Ever since Luo had mentioned that Yang Yu possessed the strength of a Quasi-S Class adventurer, Gordon had been highly interested in Yang Yu’s true capabilities.

In an attempt to gauge the depth of Yang Yu’s abilities, Gordon had issued a duel invitation several times, but Yang Yu had firmly refused with, ”I don’t want to be bullied by Captain Gordon of the Red Blood Rose.”

It wasn’t easy to get Yang Yu to agree for the next time, and when he did, Yang Yu only casually executed a few moves before quickly conceding defeat, showing a complete lack of willingness to reveal any of his skills.

Given the rare opportunity, Gordon was not about to let it slide; he wanted to see what kind of strength Yang Yu could demonstrate when faced with a life-or-death situation, and whether he could truly live up to Luo’s evaluation.

Originally, Gordon was quite worried about whether Yang Yu could manage, but seeing Yang Yu actually detect the attack from atop the city wall and rapidly evade it dispelled his concerns, and he indulgently watched the events unfold from midair.

Gordon’s sudden enthusiasm threw Yang Yu’s plans into disarray.

With no other choice, Yang Yu continued to struggle against Hake while dealing with the Spiritual Body that could frequently switch between Bu Yao Lianzi and Asuna, catching him off guard with its unpredictable mode of battle.

Fortunately, Kenro seemed to be simply waiting nearby for something; he didn’t further engage his Spiritual Body, nor did he use any other skills to attack.

Suddenly, Yang Yu realized something and looked toward the dense forest.

Kenro’s target was Bai Jin; if Kenro intended to use him as bait, he didn’t need to capture him—merely keeping him restricted here would suffice.

Just as Yang Yu was trying to buy time, Kenro was also buying time, waiting for Bai Jin and the others to deliver themselves into his hands.

If only Gordon would warn Bai Jin not to come closer, but Yang Yu sensed that Gordon, who was enjoying the spectacle from the air, wouldn’t reckon there was any danger.

Even if there were an issue, Gordon, as Captain of the Red Blood Rose, would likely handle it.

Such a hazardous thought was in itself extremely perilous.

To allow others free rein without a clear understanding of their capabilities was to give them an opportunity to exploit, which would ultimately make one suffer for it.

...

...

Damn! The person who will end up suffering isn’t Gordon—it’s me!

Yang Yu slightly furrowed his brow; if there were any mishaps, he was the only one whose interests would be implicated—it really had nothing to do with the Red Blood Rose.

Gordon hadn’t considered at all the potential connection between Bai Jin and the Curse Church, and likely assumed that the person before him, having colluded with the Silver Orchid Commerce, was invited to prevent others from escaping and would definitely not stray far from the wall.

Realizing Gordon’s current train of thought, Yang Yu shouted at Gordon, who was circling above in the air,

”His target isn’t me! Keep Bai Jin and the others safe!”

As soon as he finished speaking, shadows as black as low-flying birds crossed the shadow-dappled forest, passed over the moat, and burrowed into the Black Group beneath Kenro’s feet.

Without hesitation, Kenro leapt into the air; countless Spiritual Bodies erupted from the Black Group beneath him, lifting him up and hurrying him into the forest at great speed.

Gordon paused for a moment, then quickly sped after Kenro.

Yang Yu didn’t linger; using ”Climbing,” he made his way downwards and then with a leap, landed on the bank of the moat, pursuing the two men.

Meanwhile, the Spiritual Body composed of Bu Yao Lianzi and Asuna coiled into a round mass, relentlessly pursuing Yang Yu.
