Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 432: Chapter 432: Just Do Him a Favor

Hearing Iyas say this, Hake was somewhat incredulously agape.

In Hake’s memory, Iyas was an exceptional elf warrior, and he himself aspired to be someone like Iyas, but Hake did not wish to be as reckless as his sister.

To be precise, it was because he worried that his sister was sometimes too straightforward and incapable of doing an elf warrior’s job well that Hake wanted to become a fine elf warrior to assist Iyas.

But now, his sister was able to offer such constructive suggestions.

In this past year, perhaps his sister had grown even more than he had imagined.

Finally, Hake agreed with Iyas’s viewpoint and was willing to go with Yang Yu to the Elf Forest to meet the Elf Queen.

Waiting for Lotcar to recover, Yang Yu immediately organized the team and began their journey.

They were to cross the border from Serti territory to Wansheng Country, which was at war with Luoze Empire.

If everything went smoothly, by now Gordon would have already told Big Pancake Face at Silver Orchid Commerce that he had blasted Yang Yu and his group to smithereens because of Yang Yu’s taunt.

Soon, the skeptical Silver Orchid Commerce would surely conduct a thorough search nearby to gather intelligence from their informants, making it the best time for Yang Yu to distance himself from Silver Orchid Commerce.

Despite the need to cross the border, there were many ways to reach Wansheng Country.

Taking a boat was the fastest and most convenient, but since they needed to avoid detection, they naturally had to stay away from crowded places.

Moreover, with only one Race Disguise Necklace, bringing elves to Wansheng Country could lead to exposure and potential trouble before even disembarking.

Yang Yu certainly didn’t want to engage in chaotic battle on the ship, ending up poking a huge hole in the vessel in a Titanic-like spectacle followed by a ”Castaway” sequel.

While there was still a way to travel to Wansheng Country by boat, it was slightly troublesome and would cost a considerable sum of money.

After much consideration, Yang Yu chose to cross the vast desert between Wansheng Country and Serti—Kafezaro.

Inside the dim temple, the believers were endlessly praying to the demon, among them a gaunt middle-aged man with extremely prominent cheekbones, resembling a walnut cracker toy.

Looking up at the pitch-black Demon God Statue, the man’s gaze was filled with devout reverence, and even as believers began to leave, he stood still, unflinchingly praying to the demon.

About ten minutes after all the believers had left, Bishop Tu Jing burst out with a ”giggling” laugh, unable to contain the joy within his heart,

”Today’s believers were also immensely devout, those gloomy expressions, they are indeed the best nourishment for Demon Lord.”

After laughing, Tu Jing dug his fingers into his hair and scratched vigorously, a craziness that made one feel as if he didn’t stop soon, he might scratch all his thick hair to baldness,

”If it weren’t for that traitor, I would have already offered everything to the demon. Damn it, damn it, damn it! That detestable traitor...”

Suddenly, Tu Jing’s hair-scratching hand stopped abruptly,

”Forget it, the sect has designated Kenro Miller to handle it, with his skills, he can gather some information at least. Capturing that traitor’s daughter and retrieving the ’Demon’s Eye’ should be imminent.”

As soon as Tu Jing finished speaking, a small black hole appeared not far from him, from which numerous spiritual bodies dragged a battered person out.

It was no other than Kenro Miller, whom Tu Jing had just mentioned.

Countless fragmented spiritual bodies placed Kenro on the ground, then completely vanished into the air.

With his mask completely shattered and blood continuously flowing from his head, the intense hatred in his eyes was unmistakable. He gasped heavily, taking stock of the remaining spiritual bodies.

He had lost eighty percent of his strength compared to when he had left the house.

Gritting his teeth so hard that blood seeped from his gums, Kenro slammed his hands heavily on the cold floor of the church.

Had he not discovered in time that Gordon was using ”Super Large Magic” and, at the cost of ten Contracted Spirit Bodies, was using ”Ghost Shadow Transfer” to squeeze himself into a different space and return to a preset location, he might have truly been taken down by Gordon.

Those were ten Contracted Spirit Bodies. To bind a contract with a Spiritual Body, one had to fulfill the Spiritual Body’s dying wishes, allowing them to meet the conditions to leave this world.

The problem was, binding a contract with a Spiritual Body could only compel the Spiritual Body for a maximum of ten years. All the effort for just ten years of loyalty was not worth it.

Treating the Spiritual Bodies like a flock of sheep, bringing them under his control and making elusive promises allowed him to manipulate them anytime, anywhere.

Thus, Kenro had always been reluctant to increase the number of Contracted Spirit Bodies; using up ten at once, he didn’t know how long it would take to replace them.

”Giggle giggle, this is indeed fine. This hatred, this unwillingness, will also surely become exquisite sustenance for the Demon Lord. This trip, successful or not, has been immensely fruitful.

Great Priest Kenro Miller, can you tell me now who it was that injured you like this? And how is the task that the Sect assigned you coming along?”

Sensing the Bishop nearby, Kenro shifted from his earlier fury, wavering as he stood up respectfully, gave the Bishop a bow, and told him everything he had experienced.

”Giggle giggle, indeed, I’m not wrong, that thing is in the hands of that traitor’s daughter.”

”Bishop, I failed to retrieve that thing. I ask for your punishment.”

”Giggle giggle, no need to apologize. If anyone should apologize, it’s to the Archbishop; he was the one who recommended you on behalf of our region.

Your opponent was ’Red Blood Rose.’ There’s no helping the state you’re in. But thanks to you, I’ve come to know their movements.

Is that so? That guy is also in their team; their destination is pretty obvious now.

There happens to be an old friend who hopes we’d skip the ’Middleman’ and help him out.

This time around, I’ll do him another great favor, giggle giggle.”

....

....

Three days later.

A Swordsman dressed in a black suit, tall and slim, was leaping through the Life Forest in the southern part of the Wansheng Country.

This Swordsman, standing over two meters tall, had a slender Western Sword hanging by his waist and wore a large pumpkin intricately carved, complete with a playful curled pumpkin leaf on top.

At first glance, it appeared as though the Swordsman had put on a carved pumpkin for Halloween—except, that pumpkin was actually part of his face.

His name was William Pumpkin, a member of the Plant Clan.

He passed through a thick forest and landed on a grassy clearance within the forest.

The afternoon sun just happened to pass through the tall trees, warmly illuminating this patch of grass.

Stepping onto this flower-blooming lawn, William felt an indescribable comfort.

Being sensitive to the sun was a natural trait of plants.

Yet, he couldn’t afford to sit quietly and enjoy the afternoon sun—he was here on an important mission.

He walked towards the center of the lawn and gently knocked on a white flower bud over one and a half meters tall.
