Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 417: Chapter 417 He’s Still Just a Kid

Using the key, the guards unlocked the prison cell and brought the frail Hake before Yang Yu.

Extending his bandaged hand, Yang Yu pinched Hake’s chin and lifted it slightly.

Hake had a strikingly handsome face that, upon a direct look, bore no difference from that of a cute blonde girl.

There was no hatred in Hake’s eyes, nor did he resist; he was like a little cat that had been bullied to the point of docile obedience.

From Yang Yu’s perspective, it was inevitably tempting to engage in a duel of sorts.

Perhaps Hake had already known that resistance was futile and his fate as a test subject was inevitable.

Rather than fighting back and suffering, it was better to comply from the start and avoid the pain.

”Hey hey hey! What a nice expression.”

The creepy laughter rang out again as Yang Yu took a bottle of purple potion from the System, shook it vigorously, uncorked it with one hand, and poured the liquid forcefully into Hake’s mouth.

Hake had witnessed everything that just happened and did not know if he could endure the intense pain.

If he couldn’t, it would be the end of the line for him.

Memories of warm times spent back home with Iyas appeared before his eyes, and large teardrops pooled in Hake’s eyes.

”Maybe it’s for the best. If I die, my sister won’t come here to rescue me. She finally escaped that hell with someone’s help; I can’t let her risk coming back...”

Thinking this way, tears nevertheless spilled from Hake’s eyes.

He too wanted to be rescued, to be reunited with his sister. He was still a child with a whole youth to enjoy.

But now... his very existence would only drag his beloved sister into the mire.

And besides, no one would come to save him... Despair had played out before his eyes time and time again, each time he was left to bear it alone.

This time would surely be the same... alone...

Clutching his tattered brown hemp shirt over his chest, Hake closed his eyes, waiting for the heart-wrenching pain to invade his body and take his consciousness.

But the scene he braced for did not occur. Instead, a warmth spread from his abdomen throughout his body, erasing his fatigue and giving him a sense of utter relief, with even his chest feeling warm and cozy.

What in the world was happening?

Opening his eyes, Hake looked at the black-beaked doctor in front of him, who now seemed less terrifying.

At the same time... the figure of the beaked doctor was becoming somewhat blurry, and even the bandages turned black, as if about to dissipate.

The next second, the sound of two heads colliding echoed in the basement.

The two guards who had opened the prison for the beaked doctor clumsily bumped heads, spitting out a few teeth.

Caught off guard by the sudden attack, Qing Cong and Hei Dou were at a loss. Before Hei Dou could react, Yang Yu kicked him in the waist, toppling him to the ground. The next second, Yang Yu placed his hand on the ground and activated a skill,

”Thorny Binding.”

Several purple vines grew from the ground, entwining Hei Dou’s body.

Although trained in combat, Hei Dou’s physical abilities were no different from an ordinary person, leaving him no chance to break free from the bindings in a short time.

”You bastard!”

Hei Dou roared, trying to break free from the thorns and stand up, but Yang Yu stomped on Hei Dou’s back again, mounting his back, first gagged Hei Dou’s mouth with a towel, and then tied him up tightly with rope.

The two guards who had intimate contact with Yang Yu’s face were blank-minded, but their instincts drove them to draw their weapons.

However, before they could recover, Yang Yu, who had finished tying the ropes, stood up and took out two bottles of purple potions, pouring them into the guards’ mouths.

A wave of fatigue instantly overwhelmed them, and the two guards simultaneously fell, succumbing to sleep.

Qing Cong stood there, stock-still, shivering,

”Plague Company sir, what on earth is going on? Why launch an attack all of a sudden...”

The sound of maniacal and proud laughter echoed through the basement, but Yang Yu’s tone of voice was laced with a chilling coldness,

”I hate people who are disrespectful to me the most. The obstacle has been removed, and I’ve gained three excellent test subjects. Don’t worry, I’ll take full responsibility for everything. You want me to teach them a lesson too, right?

As long as my potions are successful in testing, I assure you that you’ll definitely be able to secure a contract with Red Blood Rose.”

Upon hearing Yang Yu’s words, the tense Qing Cong immediately relaxed, complaining,

”Sir, you went too far... Don’t suddenly scare me like that, I thought...”

”Thought what?”

”I thought you wanted to invade this place, to take this slave away.”

Yang Yu scoffed, ”You think too much. If I had wanted to take him, I would’ve killed you all when I came in, rather than wait till now. Just watch, that elf lad will soon be in so much pain that he’ll wish for death.”

As soon as Yang Yu finished speaking, Hake’s face contorted in an instant, he clutched at the front of his shirt and knelt down, curling up on the cold floor.

”You see, just like I said!”

Yang Yu approached Qing Cong, patted his shoulder lightly, and pulled out a bottle of potion filled to one-quarter,

”Don’t overthink it. I’m just disciplining them a bit and also want to complete my potion trials. Go, pour this potion into his mouth through the towel.

Even if he vomits, it’ll just be on the towel.

Or rather, if he doesn’t want to choke to death, the only way is to swallow the potion.”

”So that’s why you gagged his mouth with a towel...”

Qing Cong, with mixed feelings, took the potion from Yang Yu’s hand and slowly approached the bound Hei Dou, crouching down, shaking his head,

”I told you to change your personality; you really brought this on yourself. Don’t blame me.”

As Qing Cong slowly opened the bottle, all he saw was Hei Dou violently shaking his head, extremely unwilling, fiercely making ”mmph mmph mmph” sounds.

Just as Qing Cong was about to pour the potion into Hei Dou, a stick flew towards him from behind, hitting him on the back of the head, causing him to lose consciousness instantly.

The purple liquid flowed recklessly on the floor as Yang Yu snickered, stick in hand, walking behind Hei Dou.

Hei Dou struggled fiercely, trying to escape from the basement, but Yang Yu lifted the stick and smashed Hei Dou’s head with it, knocking him unconscious as well.

Once he ensured everyone was in a daze, Yang Yu retracted his weapon back into the System, slowly lifted his face mask, and unwrapped some of the bandages tied around his head, looking towards Hake who was still curled up on the ground.
