Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

69: Chapter 69 Wooden Drum Master 69: Chapter 69 Wooden Drum Master Suddenly, a small game interface popped up on Yang Yu’s system interface, accompanied by the melodious sound of an electronic prompt in his ear.

“Welcome to using the Fusion function for the first time.

Place the collected Racial Essence into the crafting slot to begin making Level Limit Upgrade Sugar.

In order not to bore players during the creation process, the system has set up various mini-games.

The player’s performance will also affect the quality of the Candy, but do not worry, the Level increase from the Level Limit Upgrade Sugar is mainly determined by the quality of the obtained Racial Essence.

Even if you fail, you can still obtain Level-up sugar residue (the effect being half the level increase of the highest quality Candy).

Now, let’s get started!”

Uh, the instructions say ‘Throw the collected Racial Essence into a candy-making simulation game,’ isn’t it just about putting the materials in, setting the program, and waiting?

“Now, based on the Racial Essence you have obtained, the system will fetch the corresponding game from the database.

Loading…”

Wait a minute, so what the system is talking about isn’t a candy-making simulation game, but a ‘simulation of a candy-making machine’ game?

Damn, who could understand if you play word games like that!

Yang Yu regretted immensely.

If only he had known, he should have thrown the Racial Essence directly into the Candy maker, instead of conveniently placing it in his inventory for ease.

Yang Yu stealthily glanced at Asuna, noticing her expression gradually turning to ice.

Clearly, she did not believe the words Yang Yu had just spoken.

In her eyes, Yang Yu was too weak and ordinary.

“Since you won’t talk, then die!”

Asuna’s long whip lashed out, transforming into a crimson poison snake in mid-air, tearing towards Yang Yu.

Crouching low, Yang Yu blocked forward with his shield, colliding with the poison snake.

Instead of being flung away, the snake turned into a noose, attempting to coil around Yang Yu’s arm.

“System matching complete.

The Racial Essence you’ve entered is from the Plant Clan, and the extracted game is Wooden Drum Master.

Now for detailed instructions.”

Yang Yu reacted instantly, pulling his arm back to avoid being entirely coiled by the poison snake.

However, as the snake writhed, it managed to nick the back of his hand, leaving a cut at the moment Yang Yu withdrew.

“Wooden Drum Master, you can become a music master as well.

In front of you is a wooden drum, and when the music starts, please follow the demonstration and strike the wooden drum.

When a red seed rolls to the end of the progress bar above, hit the center of the wooden drum, and when a blue seed does the same, hit the sides of the drum.

When a radish appears, start pressing and holding the center of the drum from the head of the radish until it disappears.

The better your timing, the higher your Evaluation, starting from the lowest to the highest: miss, bad, good, great, perfect.

The overall Evaluation will ultimately affect the quality of the Candy.

That’s all there is to the game!

Now, set forth towards the highest quality Candy!”

The system interface displayed the number 10, signifying that Yang Yu had only ten seconds of preparation time.

“This is seriously bad, the game can’t even be paused.”

Having no other choice, Yang Yu could only sharpen his sword at the last moment, putting away his sword into its scabbard, taking out a pill to remove abnormal statuses and swallowing it to neutralize the poison, then raising his shield high over his chest, placing his right hand behind his left forearm, not moving at all.

All the while, he kept an eye on Asuna, waiting for Wooden Drum Master to start.

“Putting away the sword into the scabbard, giving up an offense voluntarily?”

Asuna was very puzzled.

Yang Yu’s behavior was like that of a mouse cornered by a cat no longer running, standing up and flipping the cat the middle finger.

This was completely suicidal.

No, he must be plotting something.

This man could not possibly surrender just like that.

Calmly recalling everything that had happened so far, cold sweat instantly climbed up Asuna’s brow.

The man had first pretended to be charmed to infiltrate the research facility, then, seizing the chance when Slarate was slacking off, he had stolen his pants, earning the Manager’s trust and access to the data storage room, which triggered the highest level of alarm, and afterward he even united the black workers, leading them to burst out from underground.

After that, instead of escaping in the chaos, he thought of sneaking into the Drug Research Institute for greater gains.

Looking at the sack beside the fence, Asuna knew that it contained the spoils Yang Yu had brought from the Drug Research Institute.

The medicines in the hands of the black workers and the tools that caused the explosions were exactly the same as those he held; he had given those items to the black workers.

He couldn’t possibly have brought so many drugs in at once if he hadn’t thought about using the black workers…

Could it be, from the beginning, he knew I was the person in charge of this research facility…

That’s top secret!

The more Asuna pondered, the more she felt the man in front of her was unfathomable and not to be underestimated.

He was surely plotting something now.

Suddenly, Yang Yu’s right hand moved swiftly behind the Shield, striking the air left and right.

Asuna instinctively stepped back, only then realizing her sweat had soaked her entire back.

“What are you doing exactly?”

Her question went unanswered.

“I’m asking you, what are you doing exactly!” Asuna asked again, this time without any inquisitive tone but with a hint of fear instead.

Asuna felt uneasy, yet she didn’t know why she should fear a man a decade younger than herself.

There was still no response; the scene was as silent as death.

Staring at Yang Yu’s raised Shield, Asuna wanted to attack, but listening closely, she discovered the rhythmic sound of Yang Yu slapping the air, forming a joyous melody, and she hesitated.

That sound seemed to be beckoning her to attack.

“Damn it, damn it!

Who do you think you are looking down on!

Use whatever tricks you have!” Asuna, unable to tolerate it anymore, raised her Long Whip high and lashed it forward with force.

Better to have a spirited battle than to be completely suffocated by this oppressive atmosphere.

Yang Yu did not dodge but instead unfolded his “Interception” which was ready from a CD spin, lowered his center of gravity, and focused intently, not allowing any room for mistake.

“Damn, that woman really knows how to pick her time, attacking right now.”

“Interception” would buy Yang Yu some time, letting him concentrate on slapping the wooden drum.

Just minutes ago, when the pleasing sound resonated in Yang Yu’s ears, he believed this game was no different from the usual Taiko Master, merely a clone, and even at full Speed, he could dodge Asuna’s attacks while achieving a full combo.

But the instructional video was deceptive.

If the demo’s playing Speed was a simple quick study equation of 1+1=2, then the real battle’s playing Speed was like university calculus, where glancing at a book could make you lose the beat completely.

As the song reached its climax, Yang Yu had to concentrate greatly to barely cope with the densely packed seeds and radishes.

But at that moment, Asuna, who had been stunned and motionless without attacking before, launched another attack at him.

Not at the beginning, not near the end, but right in the middle of the song.

The combo was broken; he could only achieve a moderate combo, something Yang Yu absolutely would not accept.

He did not demand all perfects, but a full combo was the least he was willing to settle for.

With “Interception” ending, Yang Yu activated “Sudden Killing Intent,” desperately playing the song while frantically retreating.

He dodged all attacks and Skills that would entangle him, but as for all others, he let Asuna land them on his body.

Right now, he just wanted to play his song in peace and concentration.
