Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

58: Chapter 58: Inscrutable, Inscrutable 58: Chapter 58: Inscrutable, Inscrutable In the data storage room, Yang Yu’s fingers glided over rows of files.

As his finger approached a file, the System would display its category and name.

Soon, he located the evidence he needed on the bookshelf.

“Luo Ze Empire War Trade Details” and “Fire Blade Armored Group Analysis”.

With these two items in hand, Yang Yu’s task underwent a change.

[Task: Silver Orchid Commerce is the foremost giant commerce chamber in the country of Tren, with trade covering all directions.

Yet, its rise comes with an unspeakable dark price.

The Giant Umbrella Chamber of Commerce has noticed this dark cost and decided to firmly grasp the fox’s tail of the Silver Orchid Commerce to retake the market.

Able to get 2 lottery draws, 80000 Gold Coin, Skill Scroll, 7000 Experience Value, Giant Umbrella Chamber of Commerce Discount Voucher, +36 favorability towards Giant Umbrella Chamber of Commerce]

It seemed that the single item, the dark research materials, didn’t pay as highly.

To be safe, he should just take the Racial Essence and Bai Jin’s medicine and prepare to flee.

But Yang Yu hadn’t forgotten that there was a hidden condition to the task, which upon completion would grant a Skill Scroll.

Since he was already here, how could Yang Yu let go of the chance to freeload a skill?

The problem was how to create chaos, to make all those black workers willingly follow his commands and buy him time.

Yang Yu turned to look at Bu Yao, who lay on the side, barely clinging to life.

Bu Yao was struggling to drag his body, riddled with wounds, slowly crawling towards a direction.

Clearly, that way there was an emergency device that could alert to the data repository incident.

“Don’t waste your strength.

You’ve lost too much blood.

Crawling any further could be fatal.”

With agile skills, Yang Yu found an opening to defeat Bu Yao, but he did not deliver a fatal blow.

After all, killing him now wouldn’t yield his Experience Value.

It was better to keep him alive, as there might be a legitimate chance to take his Experience Value in the future.

With such an incident, Silver Orchid Commerce would sooner or later be irreconcilable with Yang Yu.

As long as he could escape, Silver Orchid Commerce would surely exhaust its accumulated wealth to incessantly send…no, not Experience, but assassins after him.

If this old man survived, he would undoubtedly seek every means possible to take revenge and not simply submit to disgrace.

If the opposing side was offering up Experience Value for free, why would Yang Yu refuse?

As long as they weren’t too enthusiastic or overwhelmingly powerful, sending too many at once, Yang Yu could find a way to gain their Experience.

“Just lie aside quietly.

Someone might discover you soon.”

“I don’t need your pity!”

Bu Yao’s eyes were bloodshot.

If he were younger and his body not so damaged, he was one hundred percent certain that he could crush Yang Yu into mincemeat.

“If you don’t kill me, I will make you pay!

My family…

will definitely make you pay!”

“I don’t know where you’re getting your confidence,” Yang Yu sighed, mocking, “I know what you want to do.

The reason I didn’t choose to run was precisely to prevent that situation from occurring.

However, I am quite curious, what would happen if you pressed that device…

If you tell me, I might give you a quick end.”

“What exactly will happen, you just need to let me press it, and you’ll find out!”

Bu Yao continued crawling forward.

Yang Yu was already there in front of him, crouching down.

“Surely you’re not expecting those shell-clad earth wolves, are you?”

Bu Yao’s eyes involuntarily widened, but he remained silent.

“Calling those things a secret weapon, Silver Orchid Commerce really isn’t much.

The room where we entered had those monsters detained on both sides.

I feel like I could handle them by myself.”

Yang Yu had only glanced at the darkness on both sides and seen several shaking icons.

As he thought, detained there were Synthetic Demon Beasts, not many, just four or five, with an average Level of 18.

It wasn’t bragging; Yang Yu could beat a whole group of goblins, so why fear a few Synthetic Beasts?

Alright—

Yang Yu admitted there was still a bit of fear, as the room used oil lamps.

In case a fight broke out and the lamps were extinguished, he would be unable to handle a group along with Bai Jin.

So, the current Yang Yu was merely bluffing, trying to extract words from Bu Yao.

“Maybe!

After all, those are experiments that can already be controlled.

But what if I told you that with a little time, I could release all the detained experiments and lock down the entire underground facility.

Would you still be so smug then?”

Releasing all the detained experimental subjects?

Isn’t that exactly what I want?

“Old man, where’s the button?

I will press it for you!”

Yang Yu accidentally blurted out his true thoughts in his excitement and quickly corrected himself,

“Er…

cough cough, what I meant was, bring it on!”

I believe you, big liar!

That expression on your face is clearly plotting something!

Bu Yao’s slowly moving body stopped.

He didn’t know if he should continue towards the device.

If the data room theft was discovered, his death was certain, so he could only struggle towards the device, acting as if he never gave up even in his dying moments in order not to blame his own ineptitude on his family.

The result was Yang Yu not playing by the book at all, and Bu Yao’s mentality collapsed.

What if pressing that button harmed his family – what then?

“Forget it.

I can’t take such a big risk after all.

I don’t like killing people, so I’ll spare your life this time.”

After speaking, Yang Yu stood up and left, his face indifferent.

The left-behind Bu Yao had a stunned expression as he listened to the fading footsteps, uncertain, almost wishing Yang Yu would stay.

He had been prominent in the Martial World for decades, devoting all his effort to his family, thinking he had developed insight into people.

Yet, in the end, everything was just wishful thinking.

“In the end, what am I fighting against?”

Bu Yao could not see through it.

Whether it was the youth’s strength or the youth’s true intentions, he couldn’t see through at all.

Instead, it was he who was seen through by the other.

“It doesn’t matter anymore, everything doesn’t matter.

If my family can’t get through this, it just shows that this is where it ends for them.”

Muttering to himself, Bu Yao leaned against the wall and slowly stood up, allowing blood to seep through the lining and drip down his tattered tailcoat.

He tore down a painting from the wall and with all his might, hit the device’s switch behind it.
