Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

61: Chapter 61: Instant Face-Slapping 61: Chapter 61: Instant Face-Slapping After arranging everything, Asuna arrived at the entrance to the underground first level.

The entrance had been sealed tightly by a massive iron door, with rows of black workers standing guard, always ready at a moment’s notice.

Upon seeing Asuna, they were so stirred with emotion, they could hardly stop themselves from falling to their knees to kiss her toes in a show of loyalty.

However, they restrained themselves.

It wasn’t that they didn’t want to, but Asuna had made it clear from the very beginning that following the rules here was the greatest expression of loyalty to her.

They certainly didn’t want to betray Asuna’s expectations and be banished to the Cold Palace, never to see the esteemed Asuna again.

Asuna didn’t so much as glance at the black workers but went straight to the Manager who was fiddling with the Crystal Ball, “How goes it?

Can you see the situation inside?”

The Manager shook his head.

Despite their repeated attempts to connect with the Magic Detection Items on the first underground level, they received no responses, leaving the Crystal Ball engulfed in a murky haze.

The Manager would generally rely on those Magic Detection Items to determine whether the Steel Dragon Wolf had been eradicated and whether a crisis had been averted.

Now, unable to see anything, he felt quite helpless.

“This is very strange.

Even if they were to malfunction, it’s impossible for all of them to fail at once.”

“So you’re saying the intruder might have completely destroyed those facilities?”

Faced with Asuna’s question, the Manager could only nervously nod in agreement.

“Damn it!

They even had the luxury to do that.”

Asuna slammed her fist on the table where the Manager had placed the Crystal Ball, causing it to roll off the padding.

Thankfully, the Manager reacted in time to catch the Crystal Ball before it could hit the ground and shatter.

Just then, a soldier hurried over.

“Reporting to Lady Asuna, we have found Lord Slarate.”

Hearing that someone had been found, Asuna roared with rage.

“Bring him—up here!”

Several soldiers gently pushed the tightly bound Slarate forward.

Some black workers couldn’t help but let out slight chuckles; after all, Slarate’s appearance was quite comical—bare-chested in his underwear, hair disheveled atop his head, with his mouth gagged by a piece of white cloth.

Asuna was also surprised to see Slarate in this state.

His complexion was pale as if he had aged significantly overnight, but the fury in Asuna’s heart did not subside.

“Untie him.

I want to hear his excuses for this failure!”

Someone had to be held accountable for such an incident.

The soldiers knew that if they untied Slarate prematurely, he might turn heels and run, so they had no choice but to bring him before Asuna in this condition.

Now with Asuna’s permission, the soldiers finally dared to untie Slarate.

Upon being released, Slarate glared fiercely at Asuna, launching a preemptive defense.

“Asuna!

This whole mess is your fault!

Your Charming Technique was completely useless!

If not for the failure of your Charming Technique, that boy I had just sent would not have found the chance to knock me out from behind, strip my clothes, and stuff me into an oil barrel!”

Slarate could not admit it was due to his own negligence that he was caught off guard, so he could only partially truthfully offload the blame.

“Oh, so what you mean is, it’s all my fault.”

Asuna’s gaze was icy, sharp as a knife; if Slarate were a Golden Spearfish, he would now be getting sliced into sashimi by that very blade.

“You’re saying it’s my fault, then I ask you, if he attacked you right before your eyes, why don’t you have any sign of resistance on your body, not even a little bit of enjoyment?”

Ghost Talent, enjoyment my foot!

“I told you he knocked me out with a single blow.”

“Really?

Then can you recount the process of your attack smoothly for me!”

“Fine!”

“Shut up!”

Asuna lashed her whip across Slarate’s pristine skin, and Slarate let out a wail, instantly kneeling with eyes bloodshot, furiously glaring at Asuna and letting out a roar,

“How dare you hit me!

Even my father has never hit me!”

“I said shut up!”

Asuna’s whip struck Slarate again and again, his angry voice quickly smothered by pained howls.

“As an elite from the Lianzi family, it’s impossible for you to be easily ambushed from behind.

I’ve already heard about your slacking off from many mouths!

I don’t want to hear your excuses!”

Slarate cried out in agony, his eyes venomously scanning everyone around as if they all had snitched to Asuna.

Little did he know, the looks from the people around him were nothing but cold indifference; if it weren’t for this deputy minister’s dereliction of duty, things certainly wouldn’t have escalated to this point.

After a prolonged whipping, Slarate could no longer endure the pain radiating from his skin, abandoned his dignity, knelt on both knees, and begged Asuna for mercy.

“Stop hitting me!

Please stop!

I surrender, okay!

I know I was wrong!”

All Asuna responded with was a cold stare, “Tell me, what should we do now?

The document storage room has been breached, triggering the highest alarm, so what should we do now!”

Slarate, with his head hung low, didn’t dare to look at Asuna, desperately organizing information in his mind, seeking a glimmer of hope for survival.

“I think there’s no need to worry.

Your Charming Technique, Lady Asuna, is perfect; that person was just an exception!

With the highest alarm activated, and with Uncle Bu Yao’s diversion, that kid must still be underground!

As long as the research facility releases the secret weapons, we can certainly wipe them out completely.

It’s a pity about the black workers, but don’t worry, they will undoubtedly feel honored to die for Lady Asuna!

I will handle the cleanup well and can recruit more black workers!”

Seizing this moment to ensure his indispensability, Slarate boastfully flattered, also trying to reassure Asuna indirectly.

“Every black worker I brought in, I’ve thoroughly checked their personal belongings and prepared special uniforms for them.

With his feeble body, there’s no way he can do anything to this iron door, he definitely can’t escape!”

No sooner had he spoken than a thunderous boom sounded from the other side of the door, making the entire research facility tremble.

Black workers near the entrance suffered tinnitus and dizziness, barely managing to stay upright with the support of their weapons.

Curls of black smoke drifted from the gap under the iron door, followed by the thick door slowly tilting forward and crashing onto the cold floor with a crisp sound.

Slarate’s face was being slapped slap after slap, just as he was about to say there was only one person opposite, a loud voice not belonging to the boy sounded from the other side of the door.

“Minions, charge for me!

Remember what Brother Yang Yu said, disrupt the lighting first to prevent Charm, rescue our brothers, and then cause a big ruckus!”

“Woah—”

Cheers erupted one after another from the other side, soon followed by beams of Magic Light shooting from the door, shattering all the magical lighting fixtures in the hallway.

Darkness began to spread throughout the entire research facility.
