Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

67: Chapter 67 Over the Wall 67: Chapter 67 Over the Wall “I knew you wouldn’t let me down.”

He Meng’s collected data was entered into the System, and the final requirement of the task lit up.

Yang Yu could finally lead his team to flee.

Ascending the spiral staircase, the Drug Research Institute, once brightly lit, was now shrouded in stretches of darkness.

Half an hour ago, Asuna had almost mobilized all the internal alert forces to deal with the rebellious black workers.

At first, Asuna’s team had the advantage, but she didn’t anticipate those black workers had deliberately sabotaged all the lighting fixtures along the way and used an unknown drug to remove the Charming Technique from the black workers of the Guard Team.

The gap in personnel between the two sides gradually decreased, and eventually, the black workers took the initiative.

The entire Drug Research Institute relied on the light to continuously cast the Charming Technique, which was also the foundation of the institute; the damage would cost a great deal to repair.

Even worse, after defeating their people, the black workers would strip them of their clothes, find small tools that prevented the Charm, and put them on themselves.

This greatly diminished the effectiveness of Asuna’s Charming Technique.

Making those cards was a last resort.

Having the entire Drug Research Institute under her command indeed made management easier.

Unfortunately, while Asuna’s Charming Technique could manipulate others to a certain degree, it also made the charmed ones’ thinking sluggish.

The use of the Charming Technique on researchers would greatly affect the research progress of the whole institute.

Therefore, to ensure smooth research progress, they had developed cards preventing the Charm first and distributed them to every researcher or administrator.

Asuna didn’t know where those black workers had gotten the information, but she knew she absolutely couldn’t let these black workers escape.

Without much consideration, she reactivated Slarate in spite of past conflicts, allowing him to redeem himself by bearing his sins, then summoned the patrolling personnel from outside, barely holding back the formidable black workers’ team and keeping them under Control in the institute’s first-floor hall.

Now, all that was needed was to wait for reinforcements.

As long as there were reinforcements, dealing with these insignificant black workers would be a cakewalk.

Suddenly, another alarm sounded.

This time it was a theft alert from the Drug Research Facility.

Asuna, who was defending with a Long Whip against the black workers, changed her expression as the alarm went off, her eyes almost spewing flames.

With the black workers hiding in the shadows, she had so far found it difficult to determine whether that man was among the team, but now it seemed that the man was still underground, and had even infiltrated the Drug Research Institute.

“All of this has become like this, it’s all that man’s fault; the black workers’ revolt, the triggering of the highest alert, and the theft in the Drug Research Facility, it’s all his fault.

I clearly charmed him back then, why can he still move about so freely!”

Asuna had a pile of incomprehensible issues, but now that she knew Yang Yu was the instigator, she naturally wouldn’t let him off easily, vowing to tear Yang Yu to pieces.

“In order to escape from here, this is his inevitable path, perhaps he will join the black workers’ team and fight side by side with them, which makes it easier to eliminate him along with the troublesome black workers here.”

Just as Asuna was thinking this, a deafening explosion resounded throughout the institute.

Stones shattered, smoke swirled, and a huge hole was blown out on the side of the institute, the bright moonlight shining through the gap, illuminating the dim warehouse.

Stepping over the broken stones with Bai Jin, Yang Yu stood outside the institute, and it was still midnight, the cool breeze blowing across the grass, making a subtle rustling sound, taking a breath of fresh air, the fragrance of soil refreshing, and the myriad of stars reflecting in a small pond, quiet and serene.

Yang Yu was not foolish, whether the black workers had escaped or not, Asuna would definitely set an ambush at the entrance.

Rather than walk into a trap, he might as well break a new path.

The last Explosive Magic Scroll remained, and Yang Yu decisively blasted a path through the warehouse.

Of course, with such a commotion, it was impossible to go unnoticed.

The pursuers were estimated to arrive quickly; with Yang Yu and Bai Jin’s current strength, dilly-dallying would only result in them being pinned down and beaten to a pulp.

Thus, they wasted no time and ran toward the iron fence.

The iron fence surrounding the research institute was just over two meters tall—a small matter for Yang Yu, who had been accustomed to climbing fences to go online back in his middle school days.

He Meng didn’t need to worry either, as Slime’s jumping ability was considerably stronger than one might expect.

The only concern was the weakened Bai Jin who seemed, on her own, incapable of scaling the fence.

Yang Yu was about to speak up, planning to climb up first and then pull Bai Jin over with a rope, but He Meng took the initiative to help Bai Jin over the wall first.

The method was straightforward; He Meng fully utilized Slime’s features, wrapping its gelatinous body around two bars and turning itself into an elevator using the gaps in the fence.

Bai Jin gripped the bars, and He Meng slowly lifted her to the highest point; after she stepped over the spurs, He Meng created a landing spot for Bai Jin on the opposite side, ensuring her safe descent to the ground.

With He Meng’s strength of over a hundred, lifting a light girl like Bai Jin was no problem.

Tying a rope to the bag, Yang Yu also wanted to experience the Slime elevator, and just as he stretched out his foot to step on He Meng, the Slime squeezed itself through the bars.

emmmm…

Yang Yu wore a dumbfounded expression, his hands clinging to the bars, with ‘awkwardness’ written all over his face.

I’m still in here!

Why did you leave?

He Meng reverted to its original round form and leaned against a roadside tree, sporting an expression that said, “Climb, peasant!

I’m watching from here.”

“Ugh,” Yang Yu clicked his tongue, “Truly a Slime that forgets friends at the sight of color!”

Watching Yang Yu’s suddenly disdainful expression, He Meng seethed with anger.

I saved your life here, helped you get the information you wanted, and you don’t even say thank you; still with that attitude toward me.

Today I absolutely need to teach you a lesson!

Unable to stand it any longer, He Meng squeezed through the fence gap and launched a Slime Charge at Yang Yu.

Yang Yu dodged nimbly; no matter how many times He Meng tried, the attacks never landed.

Seeing Yang Yu’s smug expression, He Meng almost couldn’t resist using its big move.

After a moment, He Meng squeezed back through the bars, continuing with the “Climb, peasant!

I’m watching from here” expression.

Yang Yu could only shake his head resignedly.

He had hoped for an easy exit, but He Meng wouldn’t give him any face; in the end, he had to escape on his own.

As for the sack disguising the elf, he could simply climb up and hoist it; she wouldn’t care about the rescue details after waking up—whatever was simplest would do.

On tiptoes, reaching for the top of the fence, Yang Yu was about to climb over and leave when suddenly a Long Whip cut through the air, fiercely lashing towards Yang Yu’s back.

Hearing the sound, Yang Yu pushed off with his hands, releasing the sack’s rope, allowing the whip to graze his chest and Bam against the bars.

Taking advantage of the momentum, Yang Yu rolled into position, half-kneeling on the grass, and looked toward the red-haired woman who approached as she retracted her whip.

Asuna’s serpent-like eyes were filled with fury as she proceeded to speak with an intent to devour Yang Yu, “Sneaky little rat, I’ve finally caught you!”
