Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

63: Chapter 63: Iron Bones Clanging 63: Chapter 63: Iron Bones Clanging He Meng left 10 pills with Yang Yu, handing over the rest to Drue for emergency use and to rescue more enchanted black workers.

Yang Yu also gave Drue an Explosive Magic Scroll.

To pry open the sealed iron door, the power of this type of scroll was indispensable.

The appearance of the scroll was almost identical to the Detonator in Naruto.

By directly striking the center of the Magic Array with magic, it could trigger the Magic Energy contained within and cause an explosion.

This Magic Scroll was specially provided to Yang Yu by Tela.

It was difficult to preserve and even more dangerous than imagined, as a slight mishap could harm the user as well.

That’s why, initially, Tela had only given Yang Yu one scroll.

With the System, Yang Yu wasn’t worried about storage issues for this item.

Such a valuable item was not something he allowed Tela to hide away, so he outright said that if he didn’t get more, he wouldn’t cooperate.

Left with no choice, Tela had to hand over two more Explosive Magic Scrolls to Yang Yu.

Upon receiving the scrolls, Drue was immensely grateful to Yang Yu.

“Your commanding ability is clear for all to see, Lord Yang Yu.

With you here, we can definitely pin that woman down and grind her into the ground!”

Yang Yu patted Drue on the shoulder, his eyes sincere, his words filled only with concern.

“I would love to stand on the same front line as you, but I have important matters to attend to.

I made a trip to the data storage room and didn’t obtain much useful intelligence.

I still need to stay here and gather more.

Don’t talk about staying to fight alongside me—it’s a foolish notion.

I appreciate your kindness, but it’s extremely dangerous to act together with me.

I’m here to choke their throats.

To put it bluntly, compared to me, you guys seem insignificant.

I can escape on my own.

But with you, once in danger, even I might find myself helpless.

In that case, I can only escape alone, watching helplessly as you become emotionless tools once more.

If you really want to help me, follow your thoughts, rescue the black workers here, create as much chaos as possible!

Then, escape before help arrives.

If you encounter strong enemies, remember, never confront them directly.

Staying alive is your only hope.

Don’t worry about me.

As long as I obtain the information I need and expose their malevolence, I can escape amidst the chaos you leave behind.”

Yang Yu could have exploited them, letting them fight Asuna relentlessly to buy a lot of time, but he seriously told Drue that there might be reinforcements on Asuna’s side and reminded him not to engage and preserve their forces even if it meant abandoning him.

How could Drue not be moved?

“Thank you for the reminder, Lord Yang Yu.

My life was saved by you.

Once we’re out, if there’s any way I can be of use, don’t hesitate to say so.”

“Alright, there’s not much time left.

We need to move now.”

“I wish you great fortune in battle!”

Following Yang Yu’s advice, Drue led the angry black workers, boldly advancing upward along the spiral staircase, heading straight for the iron door.

When most of the people had left, Yang Yu placed an Explosive Magic Scroll on an iron door.

When a deafening noise came from the entrance, Yang Yu had Bai Jin fire magic straight at the center of the Magic Array, resulting in a double blast.

The door to the underground second floor pharmacy research department collapsed with a bang, and chunks of debris rolled down the winding staircase, making a crisp sound.

Watching the huge hole in the wall, Yang Yu wiped the sweat from his forehead and breathed a sigh of relief.

“At last, I’ve tricked those black workers away.

After giving them so much good stuff, it’s time to make my money back.”

Tela had said that since the Silver Orchid Commerce was involved in unspeakable dealings, as long as Yang Yu could secure the evidence, he wouldn’t be blamed even if he took some items from the research institute.

Faced with such a great opportunity, how could Yang Yu be polite?

He made a quick decision to clean out everything from the pharmacy research department, taking as much as he could fit into the system.

It wasn’t that Yang Yu didn’t want to share some spoils with the black workers and break out of the research institute with them; it’s mainly because the black workers were likely greedy.

Having barely united them, if they went down with him and saw too many precious treasures, they might harbor evil thoughts…

A zero-sum game was inevitable, and dealing with scheming and backstabbing was too troublesome; it was simpler for him to monopolize everything, once and for all.

Yang Yu was confident enough to fully utilize those resources, which was much better than the black workers simply selling them for money.

Before entering the pharmacy research department, Yang Yu waved to He Meng at the ventilation duct.

“He Meng, Bai Jin and I are going down to find medicine.

There are some items in the Secret Weapon Research Institute that we haven’t taken yet, go get them.”

The Dark Research Materials, this item yielded less than the previous two, Yang Yu assumed that as long as he acquired the Dark Research Materials, he wouldn’t need to worry about their quality and quantity.

Since Yang Yu was busy emptying the enemy’s warehouse and had no time to blast open another door to search for the Dark Research Materials slowly, he could only ask the nimble He Meng to sneak into the Secret Weapon Research Institute and bring out the materials.

He Meng didn’t immediately agree, but instead peered down at Yang Yu from the ventilation duct with a “beg me, and I’ll go!” attitude.

“That little rascal has been freeloading and leeching experience, really ungrateful.

Asking you to do something and yet you dither and delay, wanting to continue freeloading.”

Looking at He Meng’s nearly level 30 experience bar, and then at Bai Jin, who was now on par with him, Yang Yu helplessly spread his hands.

After fighting off that many Steel Dragon Wolves, Yang Yu didn’t gain any experience due to the level cap and remained stuck at level 20.

Sometimes, Yang Yu really felt like he was just a tool for helping others level up, and even the type that early on helps others, and late is guaranteed to end up in the storeroom as a low-star tool.

So, to avoid the fate of becoming a perpetual toolman, raising the level cap and increasing skills and attributes became of utmost importance.

Now, hope was finally in sight.

Without saying much more to He Meng, Yang Yu took out a flowerpot and planted several clover seeds, digging a little pit, burying a bit of soil, counting one-two-three-four-five.

A pot of clovers sprang directly from the flowerpot.

He Meng looked disdainful, “Hmph—thinking you could buy me off with that, how naive.

Before, you let me snack before work, and I’m still relishing it.

Now, to think you could buy me off again with just a few clovers, naive!

Way too naive!

Unless you bow your head and beg me properly, no way am I listening to you again.”

He Meng had iron-clad integrity; a mere pot of clovers could not shake her dignity.

But, what Yang Yu had for her wasn’t just a pot of clovers; it was a large pot of clovers.

After the clovers grew to the amount He Meng usually consumed, they continued to expand, leaf by leaf, growing continuously upwards, eventually forming a Christmas tree made up of clovers.

As he frequently fed He Meng, Yang Yu gradually discovered that the Clover Cultivation skill could adjust the output of clovers by controlling mana consumption.

A pointless skill with a pointless setup seemed to have found a little bit of utility.

Upon seeing the mountain-like clovers, He Meng was instantly dumbfounded.

Without a word, she pounced to the top of the clovers and started gnawing her way down.
