The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 570: Chapter 570: Tsk, One Million Turns Into Three Million_1

City Hospital Lan Garden Ward.

Nathalie Quinlan had just seen Uncle Cagwin out of the ward.

Freddy Cagwin followed her out as well.

After closing the door behind her, Nathalie led him to the corner of the corridor before leaning against the wall, lifting her head, and asking him with a hint of accusation in her eyes.

”When are you planning to go back to school?”

”I don’t know yet, I’ll just stay like this for now, I’ll stay in the hospital to take care of my dad first.”

Freddy, still unaware that the issues with Jecksen Wilmar were mostly resolved, looked awkward when she asked about his school, his glance inadvertently catching sight of the man standing nearby waiting for Nathalie.

He had seen him with Nathalie several times.

Amadeus Yancey.

He came from Beijing, seemingly a good friend of Nathalie’s brother.

But he was a man, and even though not yet fully mature, he knew the way men look at women was different.

Thinking of this, Freddy felt a bitter taste in his heart; he had long resigned himself to giving up, but it still hurt to look at the girl in front of him. He dropped his gaze and said in a low voice, ”...When he gets a little better, I’ll try to find a way to see if I can attend an adult university.”

Upon hearing this, Nathalie’s brows furrowed tightly, and with a rather irritable look, she glanced at him before retorting, ”Aren’t you going to take the college entrance exams?”

”I...” Freddy hung his head, at a loss for words.

Of course, he wanted to take the exams, but he had signed the confession before, and with a disciplinary sanction on his record, no university would accept him even if he did take the exams. Why bother wasting three months?

”Hmm?” Noting that Freddy trailed off without explaining, Nathalie seemed to realize something. Her frown slowly relaxed as she straightened up and walked over to stand face to face with him, her voice somewhat hoarse, ”Is it because of what happened with Jecksen Wilmar?”

Freddy lifted his head, lips pressed together, not saying a word.

But his eyes betrayed his inner turmoil.

Nathalie could see at a glance that it was because he was coerced into signing that confession by people from Jecksen Wilmar, believing that the disciplinary action he faced meant he couldn’t take the college entrance exams and thinking about an adult university instead.

After all, Freddy and Aunt Cagwin shared the same temperament, preferring to swallow broken teeth than to speak out, lest they burden her.

In reality, for her, many things were merely a gesture of help, far from any trouble.

Besides, since Aunt Cagwin’s family had been so good to her in the past, she would be happy to deal with any trouble!

Nathalie’s frown conveyed a trace of impatience as she patted his shoulder, saying softly, ”The matter of your disciplinary action has been resolved. Hasn’t anyone from the Wilmar family contacted you?”

Reminded of the visit from the group last night, Freddy shook his head and looked at her, ”Some people came and brought a check for three million. I didn’t take it.”

Nathalie withdrew her hand, responded with an ”Oh,” not surprised in the least. One million had turned into three—it was clear someone had intervened. She looked at Freddy, her expression indifferent, ”Next time they offer it to you, take it. They should give it anyway; taking it doesn’t mean you’re taking advantage of them!”

Freddy shook his head, his youthful face resolute and brave, stating simply, ”I don’t want their money, nor do my parents.”

Taking that money would mean forgiveness, and neither would owe the other anything.

Upon hearing that Aunt Cagwin also didn’t want the money, Nathalie didn’t press further, especially since at that moment, her phone rang.

Nathalie took out her phone and saw that it was a call from Nancy Sullivan. She didn’t answer, her upward-tilted eyes showing a low pressure as she ended the call.

She looked up at Freddy, ”Remember to go to school tomorrow.”

After speaking, she didn’t linger, waving the phone in her hand, ”I’m off.”

Then she turned and walked with cool allure down the corridor...
