The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 554: Chapter 554: Nathalie Has Gone, Surely to Take First Place_1

Immediately, he took the hint and backed down, ”No worries, I’ll just hold onto this opportunity for now. If you go, I’ll accompany you; if you don’t, I won’t either.”

He wasn’t saying it out of spite, or using those words to bind or threaten Nathalie Quinlan.

He meant what he said.

The music exchange meeting that Stephanie Tanzil was leading this time was of an extremely high rank, and foreign musicians akin to piano masters like Stephan would be attending.

What they brought with them were all exceptional musicians of the younger generation.

Yet he didn’t have a single successor to bring forth. Putting aside personal embarrassment, he didn’t fear losing face, but he didn’t want people at home and abroad to think that traditional instruments, like the Konghou, were only upheld by the older generation like himself, fearing that once they passed away, the quintessence of the millennia-old heritage passed down by their ancestors would be buried along with them in the earth!

Among the younger generation, the only one who could represent them at such a high-level music exchange meeting and could bring glory to traditional instruments was one and only – Nathalie Quinlan!

If Nathalie Quinlan was unwilling to go, then it was unnecessary for him to attend.

”...” Nathalie Quinlan never expected him to say that. Feeling an inexplicable headache coming on, she pursed her lips, reined in the unruly look in her eyes, and said in a low voice, ”Well, we’ll see when the time comes.”

”Alright.”

Over the phone, Shawn Norton’s voice sounded robust and resounding.

However, Nathalie Quinlan was moved, recalling what he had just said. A trace of helplessness flitted across her eyes, and she added, ”I’ll try to make time.”

In the next three months, she planned to focus primarily on treating Uncle Cagwin’s health. Once Freddy Cagwin finished his high school exams, she would take Uncle Cagwin to Beijing, transferring him to a hospital there first. Then she would look for an opportunity for Mr. Avalon to give Uncle Cagwin a check-up.

Amadeus Yancey had the rare materials necessary for Uncle Cagwin’s surgery, and now she lacked not materials but some academic issues related to the surgery.

She had mentally rehearsed this surgery many times, only needing to sort out some minor details. Once she worked through these details, she could operate on Uncle Cagwin. After that, he could get off the sickbed and the encumbering machinery. Once recovered, he could gradually gain the ability to care for himself and lead the life of a normal person...

This had always been her goal.

It was a promise to Aunt Cagwin, made a long, long time ago.

”It’s just that I might not have the time.” Nathalie Quinlan’s eyes flickered, feeling as though she had too much on her plate for the next three months.

The school had also sought out Nancy Sullivan to discuss the high school exams with her, hoping that she would participate.

If she agreed to this, she would need to find time to hit the books.

She couldn’t just go to the exam hall with a pen in hand, not even knowing what was being taught in the current textbooks.

That said, it wasn’t entirely impossible.

Nathalie Quinlan was aware that even without much studying, having attended several classes throughout the half-year, she had a rough idea of what would be on the exams.

But if the school was asking her to participate, they certainly wanted her to score well. If she couldn’t secure first or second place, attending would be pointless.

Of course, the idea of securing the second rank didn’t exist in her vocabulary.

If she went, she would have to aim for the top spot.

Shawn Norton agreed readily, ”No worries, we’ll see when the time comes then. After all, your schedule comes first!”

Nathalie Quinlan suppressed the emotions in her eyes, hummed in acknowledgment, and walked back to her desk. She casually opened her laptop and said to him, ”Let’s leave it at that, I’ve got some things to take care of, so I’m hanging up now.”

”Mhm, bye.”

Nathalie Quinlan set the phone on the desk, pulled out a chair with insouciance, and sat down. Her line of sight landed on the laptop.

She opened the Red Alliance software and sent a message to @ilovebeingskinny and others.
