The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 178: Chapter 178: McKinney’s Doctor Wants the Same Thing_1

Why on earth did she suddenly decide to buy clothes for herself?

With a cool lift of her chin, Nathalie Quinlan retorted, ”Wrong.”

”?”

”It’s not just buying clothes for you, it’s for you and Edric!”

Edric Yancey, upon seeing Nathalie leading him into the men’s clothing store that his uncle frequented, felt a surge of jealousy bubbling in his heart.

But then he heard he was included as well.

The sourness turned into sweet satisfaction.

Twisting the hem of his uncle’s shirt in his hands, his cheeks flushed, he stuttered in a childish lilt, ”I, I will buy clothes for my sister first.”

Nathalie’s mood lifted at his words, and she agreed with alacrity, ”Alright.”

”No problem. We’ll look at your clothes first, and then, if we come across something suitable for me, we’ll consider it.”

The clothes she was currently wearing had all been picked out for her by Audrick Zachmann and Amadeus Yancey.

While they looked nice, there were simply too many dresses.

She preferred simpler styles like shirts with jeans and sweaters, finding them easier to wear than dresses and the like.

She had brought her card today anyway, so she could buy whatever she wanted!

Nathalie Quinlan had a swift approach to shopping for clothes.

Being a designer herself, she had an exceptional eye for fashion.

With the help of a store assistant, she quickly picked out three or four pieces, including shirts and a trench coat that she might need for the changing season.

Alfred Garland stayed at a distance near the shop entrance, watching Ms. Quinlan hold up various items against Amadeus, who was cooperatively posing like a happy clothes rack, which made Alfred nearly sick with envy.

You’d think Amadeus hadn’t even won over Ms. Quinlan’s heart yet, so why did it feel like he was being force-fed dog food?

Just then, the sound of his phone chimed twice.

Alfred Garland stepped into a corner to retrieve his phone.

One look, and he saw it was a call from Mr. Yancey.

He quickly stepped aside to answer.

”Hello.”

His expression was one of respectful urgency, not daring to be the slightest bit slow.

”Mr. Yancey.”

Giordano Yancey’s voice boomed like a bell, his presence felt through the phone with an enduring oppressiveness.

”I saw the photo you just sent me. You said that girl’s name is Nathalie Quinlan? The child recovered by the Zachmann family?”

With deference, Alfred Garland replied, ”Yes. Ms. Quinlan is indeed the person the Zachmann family has found.”

He had expected Mr. Yancey to say at least two sentences, especially considering Ms. Quinlan’s background, which, even as Amadeus’s fiancée, seemed somewhat inadequate.

Unexpectedly, the person on the other end spoke with unusual steadiness, simply responding, ”I understand. Let them get along well.”

”...”

In Beijing, many high-born ladies aspired to marry Amadeus, and the Yancey family’s threshold was extraordinarily high, unattainable even for certain families in the city.

Did Mr. Yancey mean he was acknowledging Ms. Quinlan?

”Send me more photos of Edric from now on.”

Coming back to his senses, Alfred Garland’s gaze shifted, and he felt reassured, ”Certainly, Mr. Yancey.”

”Alright, if there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up. Take good care of Amadeus and Edric, and let them worry me less. By the way, have you found that doctor from McKinney yet?”

”...Not yet.”

Lately, the doctor had taken the initiative to reach out to them, albeit with a strange condition.

He wanted rare materials.

There’s been a high demand for rare materials recently.

Again with people from the Red Alliance.

And people from the Black Market.

All after the rare materials.

Amadeus had suggested looking further into the issue to see what was going on.

Alfred Garland also thought it wise to investigate.

...

The clothes in this store weren’t cheap; they were from international brands, costing five figures for a single shirt.

If it was a piece from a designer collaboration, the price would be much higher.

Yet Nathalie Quinlan went on a spree as if money were no object, picking out one piece after another.

After selecting seven or eight items, she turned to the man beside her and said, ”This should be enough for a change of outfits. Do you want to try them on?”

She had noticed that ever since the day she bought him a shirt, he had worn it for three to four days straight without changing.
