The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 158: Chapter 158: Already Blacklisted_1

Ghania Quinlan’s heartbeat accelerated, thudding so loudly she felt it might burst from her throat. She held her fingers tightly, blurting out unintentionally, ”How could it be her?”

”Who is it?” Jeff Quinlan was desperate, gripping anyone like a lifeline, and immediately clamped down on her wrist to ask.

”Dad, you’re hurting me.” Ghania’s wrist felt like it was going to be crushed.

”Do you know something?” Jeff Quinlan was only thinking about saving the company.

Emilia Sullivan was equally anxious, pressing her, ”Ghania, do you know something? Tell your dad quickly, he’s almost out of his mind with worry.”

Ghania recounted her encounter with Nathalie Quinlan at the hotel that day, and also relayed the angry words Nathalie had said to her.

With her heart in turmoil and mind unsettled, she asked, ”Dad, could it be Nathalie?”

”Her?”

Jeff Quinlan’s first reaction was disbelief.

What was Nathalie? Nothing but a fake daughter living with their family. Even if she found her biological father and he had a decent job, Nathalie didn’t have the power to throw their company into crisis with just a few words.

Yet, the image of Nathalie he had unwittingly seen at Pinecone Group rose in his mind again.

After returning to his room, he sat uneasily on the bed, took out his phone, thought for a long time, and opened the phone book to the entry ”Nathalie Quinlan.”

He pressed dial.

After one beep from the phone,

a mechanical and cold female voice came through, ”I’m sorry, the number you have dialed has rejected your call.”

Jeff Quinlan’s face turned pale as he remembered, frustrated, that because of the police station incident, Nathalie had already blocked his number!

He couldn’t get through at all!

...

Meanwhile, Nathalie, after soothing the little one to sleep, returned to her room.

Just after taking a shower.

Coming out with her hair dried.

Her phone on the table lit up.

She hung the towel around her neck and walked over, picked up the phone, and cast her eyes down to light it up.

It was a message from Owen Yapiter.

[Girl, don’t worry about your friend’s matter, I’ve already spoken to the people below.]

Her dark eyes grew thoughtful, her lashes slightly curled, the phone’s light flickering on her side face, alternatively bright and dim, yet couldn’t hide her stunning face.

[Thank you.]

Suddenly, there was knocking on the door from outside.

Nathalie set the phone down.

Who could it be this late?

She called toward the outside, ”Come in.”

Having just showered, her voice was soft, a bit lazy, and slightly raspy.

Amadeus Yancey turned the doorknob and entered, holding a glass of orange juice.

Seeing the girl, who was only wearing a long T-shirt after her shower, his pupils contracted sharply, gripping the glass tighter in his hand.

He walked in, casually closing the door behind him, his voice low and magnetic, ”Edric’s already asleep, I squeezed you a glass of orange juice. Want some?”

Orange juice again?

”...Just put it there,” Nathalie said, her beautiful hand resting on her forehead, unable to understand why everyone assumed she liked oranges because she made the small pills into orange flavor.

Just because she flavored the small pills with orange, they thought she loved oranges?

Amadeus’s eyes were like a dark abyss, harboring a smolder of secret flames, as if he had seen through a truth no one else had noticed, despite Nathalie saying nothing.

”I added half a spoon of sugar, so it won’t be too sour or too sweet,” he said.

He placed the glass on the table and inadvertently noticed her laptop open on her desk. The computer’s page was clean, aside from a few essential applications, and he was surprised to see stock trading software. She played with stocks too?

He was somewhat surprised.

Yet felt that nothing that happened to her could be called ’unexpected.’

Perhaps it was just that they didn’t understand her well enough.
