Chapter 185: Unexpected Encounter at the Airport

Seeing Lin Zifeng’s calm demeanor, Nangong Bingxin couldn’t help but wonder if he was just messing with her.

Just as she was about to step forward and give him a piece of her mind,

from nowhere, a filthy beggar holding an iron bowl approached them.

Under Nangong Bingxin’s puzzled gaze, the beggar slowly walked up to the car and knocked on the door with his dirty palm.

The inherently proud Nangong Bingxin felt an instant disgust upon seeing this. For such able-bodied beggars, she couldn’t feel more revulsion; with fully functioning limbs yet not seeking work, instead choosing to beg? There was nothing pitiable about such people.

If everyone in society were like him, then they might as well all start begging.

It was reported in the news not long ago that a beggar at a Nanjing subway station was rumored to have a monthly income over ten thousand; just imagine, if every one of the 1.3 billion people in Huaxia gave him a dime, he could become a millionaire!

”Boss, I haven’t eaten for several days, please be kind and give me some money.”

The opening line was cliché, and even the beggars nowadays lacked any skill in begging, seemingly unable to change anything beyond these traditional opening lines.

Lin Zifeng coolly lit a cigarette and threw a glance at Nangong Bingxin, which left her sitting in the car puzzled.

What the hell is this guy up to? Nangong Bingxin kept pondering, seeing Lin Zifeng handing a cigarette to the beggar made her even more confused.

”I can give you a cigarette to smoke, come take one.”

Lin Zifeng handed a cigarette to the beggar with a pleasant smile.

But the beggar’s expression stiffened, and he said somewhat displeased, ”Boss, I don’t smoke, please just give me some money.”

”Not enough? Then I’ll give them all to you.”

Lin Zifeng, feeling generous, handed all the cigarettes in his pocket to the beggar.

”Boss, I don’t know how to smoke, just give me some money instead.”

In such a busy street, beggars could almost be seen everywhere; hardly had the car stopped when a beggar would approach asking for money. This was a common sight in Zhonghai City, as many of these individuals were professional beggars, easily making over ten thousand a month.

”You don’t smoke? Then get in the car, I’ll take you to a massage parlor to have some fun.”

A smirk appeared on Lin Zifeng’s lips.

Nangong Bingxin quickly pinched Lin Zifeng’s waist with her hand and communicated her disgust, signaling him not to fool around.

The beggar glanced at Nangong Bingxin, whose expression inside the car was cold, startled at first and then he said, ”Boss, just give me some money.”

Lin Zifeng wasn’t offended and continued with a smile, ”How about this, I’ll take you for a drink? What do you say?”

Ugh... damn it! All I wanted was for you to give me some money, why are you beating around the bush like this? Driving such a fancy car, is it so hard to give out some money for charity?

The beggar was getting angry.

He cursed Lin Zifeng in his mind.

But Lin Zifeng just smiled, casually took out some money from his pocket, gave a little to the beggar, then leisurely drove away.

All the way, Lin Zifeng didn’t say much, just quietly driving his car.

Finally, Nangong Bingxin couldn’t help but ask Lin Zifeng, ”Why did you give him money?”

”What? Shouldn’t I have?”

Lin Zifeng chuckled.

”Didn’t you see that he was a scammer?”

”A scammer? Who isn’t deceiving people these days?”

”But you knew he was just trying to exploit your sympathy, why did you still give him money?”

”I just wanted to prove something to you.” Lin Zifeng still had a pleasant smile, even carrying a hint of sunniness.

”Prove something to me? Don’t tell me you let a beggar ask you for money just to show you have sympathy? If that’s the case, then sorry, but your proof today was really poor, and I, Nangong Bingxin, am not that foolish.”

Nangong Bingxin smiled inwardly, finding it ludicrous if he really tried to prove his compassion to gain her favor—that would be terribly mistaken. She also took pleasure in her own cleverness, internally praising her brilliance, even feeling somewhat vain about her self-proclaimed wisdom.

However, just then, Lin Zifeng bluntly said, ”I just wanted to prove what someone like him, who neither smokes nor drinks nor does anything else, ends up like. Didn’t you say that successful people don’t smoke or drink? Look! Isn’t that beggar just as you described?”

”You! What kind of crappy proof is this? How dare you compare a beggar to the successful people I talked about? Don’t you find your way of proving things utterly disgusting? And who said all successful people are like that?”

”Boss, don’t be mad, what I’m trying to prove isn’t to contradict your understanding of successful people, I just want to say that in this world, there are no absolutely successful people and no predestined failures as beggars; everyone is a potential stock. Didn’t you say I was good-for-nothing? Would you believe that the beggar just now probably makes more money a month than some white-collar workers at Tianyu Group? Work doesn’t distinguish between rich and poor, status doesn’t affect one’s character, boss, that’s really what I wanted to say.”

Lin Zifeng shrugged his shoulders, guessing that his words probably fell on deaf ears as far as Nangong Bingxin was concerned, as if he had spoken to the wind.

Unexpectedly, this usually unprincipled guy could actually grasp the concept of allegory; she truly hadn’t seen it coming! She had thought he was just a shameless freeloader, using her for food, drink, and lodging, yet today he spoke words that seemed profound. Had she really underestimated him before?

Feeling a somewhat painful sensation in his chest, Lin Zifeng stopped paying attention to her and drove straight to the airport at full speed.

After asking Lin Zifeng two consecutive questions and seeing that he seriously ignored her, Nangong Bing then noticed that something was off with Lin Zifeng’s complexion.

Seeing his grave expression, Nangong Bing asked with concern, ”What’s wrong with you? Are you alright?”

Seeing Lin Zifeng still ignoring her, Nangong Bing became a bit anxious.

”Hey! Mr. Lin, what’s wrong with you? It can’t be that you’re going to fall out with me just because I spoke a few words, right?”

Nangong Bing looked at him with disdain.

Seeing him still maintaining a cold expression, Nangong Bing began to worry, wondering if this guy was really so fragile.

Was he now playing a cold war with her?

Just as Nangong Bing attempted to find out what was really wrong with him, who knew Lin Zifeng would suddenly turn his head back and chuckle, ”What’s the matter? Boss, you can’t play like that! Even if I’m handsome, you can’t just sexually harass me while I’m thinking!”

”Go to hell! With your kind of character, who would be interested in you?”

But to tell the truth, having been with this guy for so many days, Nangong Bing’s ability to endure his provocations had definitely not just increased a little.

Their battles almost never ceased, especially with Lin Zifeng’s shameless nature, which both disgusted and pleased Nangong Bing.

She despised him because he always opposed her, but she was pleased because he was pretty good at creating an atmosphere. What if one day he wasn’t around? Would she, Nangong Bing, feel lonely?

For a moment, the two fell into silence. Nangong Bing was internally tumultuous, unsure whether her father had done the right or wrong thing by bringing this guy into the picture.

Meanwhile, Lin Zifeng spent more time thinking about what he should really do in the future, as he couldn’t just keep muddling through.

Most importantly, he had still not figured out the secret of this bracelet.

The events of today felt like he had just had a massive dream.

With his mind full of questions, Lin Zifeng temporarily set aside these concerns and continued driving straight to the airport.

...

About half an hour later, they finally arrived at Zhonghai City International Airport. The moment Nangong Bing walked out sporting sunglasses, it was hard to say how many lustful, undisguised stares she attracted.

Seeming already accustomed to such elevated attention, Nangong Bing simply ignored it.

However, the moment Lin Zifeng stepped out, more masculine jeers erupted at the roadside, directly ruining the scene!

Even some people secretly fantasized about Nangong Bing’s irresistibly seductive body.

Seeing Lin Zifeng sticking close to Nangong Bing, the passing pedestrians’ minds turned even more crooked.

Nangong Bing raised her wrist, checked the time, and it seemed it was almost time. She smiled at Lin Zifeng, ”Okay, I should board now.”

”Let’s go,” Lin Zifeng didn’t quite catch the meaning behind her words.

”Hey! Why are you following me?”

Nangong Bing turned her head and spoke disdainfully to Lin Zifeng.

Seeing her somewhat impatient expression, Lin Zifeng felt somewhat helpless. How come this woman’s face changes so fast? She was fine just a moment ago, and now she’s giving him the cold shoulder again? Does she die if she doesn’t toy with Lin Zifeng?

”I, who else would I follow if not you? Didn’t you ask me to be your personal bodyguard?”

”Yes, that’s right. But I’m going first, you follow later. Understand?”

Lin Zifeng was even more confused now.

”What? There’s a sequence to boarding now?”

”Sorry, Mr. Lin, but I don’t like walking with you, so I booked your flight ticket for the evening. This flight is mine, and the next one is yours. Call me when you get to Yanjing. That’s it, 886!”

Nangong Bing pointed to the flight ticket in Lin Zifeng’s hand, then turned away without looking back, and strutted off before Lin Zifeng.

Completely disregarding Lin Zifeng’s feelings.

Had this woman gone mad? Booking tickets for two different flights? Was she doing this to play him?

Forget it. Since she wanted to leave first, he would let her. Lin Zifeng thought to himself.

Watching Nangong Bing’s beautiful silhouette fading into the distance, Lin Zifeng simply decided to find a spot to wait. This woman was definitely playing him, but there was nothing he could do. He could only hope for the best.

Lin Zifeng, carrying a large bag of luggage, began to back away when he noticed an empty seat behind him, just about ready to sit down when.

He had just touched the chair, when a crisp, pleasant voice nearly shattered his eardrums!

As his buttocks landed, Lin Zifeng distinctly felt a particularly soft elasticity...
