Urban All-Round Master

Chapter 153: Chapter 152: Let Birds Fly at Night

Chapter 152 When Night Falls, Birds Fly

In the middle of the day, a group of people rushed one after another to the restaurant across the road from Tianyu Group. It was called a small restaurant, but to be able to set up such a slightly luxurious dining place in the vicinity of Tianyu Group indicated the formidable skills of the owner. Everyone knows that in downtown, not everyone who wants to open a store can just open one. It involves string-pulling below the surface and complicated connections above.

But really, the business level of this small restaurant exceeded the imaginations of Lin Zifeng and the others. They had thought it was just a small restaurant and rarely did they come here to eat, assuming it wouldn’t be crowded. They didn’t expect that at noon, it would already be packed to capacity.

Seeing the dense crowd bustling and noisy, Lin Zifeng furrowed his brows.

”Damn! There are way too many people!”

A security guard beside him exclaimed.

Lin Zifeng was speechless.

”Let’s just go back to our company’s cafeteria. Who knows how long we’ll have to wait here.” Some people started to grumble, knowing that it was the peak of lunchtime, and just queueing could be deadly. They figured it was better to just go back and have a working meal and maybe catch up with Lin Zifeng in the evening.

”How can that be? We agreed today to make brother Lin pay up. The few of us haven’t had a good drink together for so long. Today, we must eat and drink well.”

Jia Zhenjing, that old slick oil, didn’t care about the crowd. He was set on swindling Lin Zifeng first, especially since he had managed to snag the company’s section manager for himself. Just the prestige and glory from that was enough for him to boast wherever he went.

”Then we’ll just wait.” Lin Zifeng didn’t mind; after all, they were all brothers from the security department.

The group stood at the door like idiots waiting, uniformly clad in security uniforms. They indeed made a fine scenery, with many diners, both men and women, eating and chatting comfortably.

Many mid-range cars were parked in front of the restaurant. Some so-called successful individuals who had finished their meals passed by Lin Zifeng and his group, displaying a hint of disdain with a cold huff, then strutted away.

At that moment, a rascal-looking guy with his beautiful girlfriend passed by Lin Zifeng and the others. Seeing them standing at the door like fools, the man showed a look of disdain, shook his head, and departed under everyone’s gaze, then headed towards his Buick.

Due to the excessive number of people queueing up, no sooner had someone left after eating than others rushed forward, making the business’s popularity hard to imagine.

”Idiot!”

Zheng Liang fiercely cursed. Having money isn’t everything. Do you think only you can afford to eat, and we security guards can’t?

But just as that foolish brother tried to start his car, he found it had a problem and couldn’t move at all. It was unknown who had played the prank, but his car was stuck right in a pothole, and no matter how much he tried, he couldn’t pull it out.

Even though white smoke was coming out the back of his car, it hadn’t moved an inch. The guy was sweating profusely.

The man’s girlfriend also became anxious. They both worked as white-collar workers at two different companies, and their lunch hours were limited. Since they were currently in a relationship, the man, in order to woo her, nearly always brought her to this restaurant for a quick meal. This not only allowed for more time together but also helped them get to know each other better.

However, whenever they had a date, the man would try every possible way to retain the woman a bit longer. Over time, every time after eating, they would take up space without actually using it, just chatting and talking about love.

But now, good grief, their car wheel was stuck in a hole, silent for ages. Even if it did make a noise, it still wouldn’t move. The man was so frantic, sweating profusely, and the woman was freaking out too. With only ten minutes left until work, if they were late, next month’s promotion dreams would be totally smashed.

They had always been the model of corporate learning at the company. If they were late today, it would be like sabotaging their own future! You know, the workplace is like a battlefield. For the same position, countless people would be eyeing it jealously. Give anyone the slightest chance, and others would use whatever means to drag you down.

But the most practical situation right now was to find someone to push the car out. But who would push a car for you in the middle of the day? Strangers meeting by chance don’t know each other. Who knows if you are a swindler or not? It’s like when an old person falls in the road, and nobody helps—it’s the same principle.

Meanwhile, Lin Zifeng and a group of security guards were standing less than five meters away from the man, snickering as if they were watching a monkey show. Weren’t you acting all high and mighty just now? Weren’t you swaggering as if you owned the sky? Why so timid now?

Seeing the man casting hopeful looks at them, the guys acted as if they hadn’t seen a thing, each pretending to point out a bird flying in the sky, which, in a big city during this summer, would hardly be a bird at all.

The woman couldn’t stand this torturous situation and hurriedly urged the man to get out and find help. But it was lunchtime, who would help? Now, their only hope was these security guards they had just scorned.

The man hurriedly scurried out of the car, all smiles, and fetched a soft pack of Zhonghua cigarettes from his pocket to offer to Lin Zifeng and his group.

He first offered one to Jia Zhenjing, but the old geezer simply ignored him.

Clasping his arms, he lightly bumped his companion’s shoulder and chuckled, ”See that? An eagle just flew by in the sky!”

His brother was no thrifty one either, bursting into laughter promptly: ”Yes, a bird did fly by just now, but it seems that the bird has stopped flying and is now wagging its tail begging at the restaurant.”

”Let the ’bird’ fly at night!”

The men’s conversation was all within earshot of the man, yet he still put on a smile and said, ”Guys, could you help a brother out here, huh?” The man tried his best to lower his arrogant demeanor, but deep down, he still disdained engaging warmly with these unrefined, uneducated, uncultured security guards. But he truly had no choice.

This guy bent over, speaking in a thick regional accent, looking like a crouching dog, constantly handing out the soft Zhonghua to the security brothers. In truth, he felt excruciatingly reluctant; after all, a pack of those was worth over sixty Big Money!

But it couldn’t be helped, now he was at the mercy of others, dependent on their goodwill, after all, he needed their help.

The security brothers weren’t shy either; seeing this guy pulling out the soft Zhonghua, they eagerly smoked it. Of course! Lin Zifeng wouldn’t save on his behalf either, might as well take two instead of one.

Seeing this, the man’s face twitched painfully, his facial muscles spasming.

Lin Zifeng found this guy amusing. If only you had been a bit more humble earlier, acted less pretentious, perhaps the guys would have lent you a hand. But now, it’s too late.

Lin Zifeng never thought of himself as a good person, let alone the type to gallantly step up for justice. If others punched him once, he would punch back twice. Rough words, but fundamentally true.

Real has to be realistic in the real world.
