Chapter 170: Chapter 173: Once Good Brothers

Chapter 173: Once Brothers

”Lin, do you suspect me?”

Gao Yunchong, smoking a cigarette, was almost choked by the smoke due to Lin Zifeng’s unexpected question.

He asked, full of surprise.

”Heh...” Lin Zifeng had merely been testing him lightly, not expecting the guy to actually get agitated. His eyes sparkled, flickering with a hint of peculiarity.

”Lin, we are brothers, aren’t we? I wouldn’t possibly do such a thing. Besides, demolishing your old family home wouldn’t be of any use to me, right?”

”Why are you agitated? I was just saying, I didn’t say it was you.” Lin Zifeng said, puffing out smoke while staring intently at the pitch-black night sky, as if something was brewing in his eyes.

Confronted all of a sudden with this matter, Gao Yunchong swallowed hard. He hadn’t expected Lin to know about it. No wonder I sensed something was off in him in the car. Liu Laowu’s death must be related to him.

”By the way, Lin, about Liu Laowu’s death...” Gao Yunchong’s broad shoulders shrugged slightly.

”I killed him.”

Lin Zifeng answered bluntly and indifferently, leisurely blowing smoke rings and then gazing steadfastly at the ones he had just exhaled.

Gao Yunchong was shocked! He had long suspected that Liu Laowu’s death was somehow connected to Lin Zifeng, but he hadn’t expected such a direct answer with no beating around the bush.

”Lin, what are you saying...?”

At that moment, Gao Yunchong became frantic. If Liu Laowu was indeed killed by Lin Zifeng, then him bringing me to this remote fish pond today must definitely involve some hidden agenda.

He suddenly became wary. Money causes death, and food causes the demise of birds.

To Gao Yunchong, anyone threatening his life or wealth was an enemy, because they were no longer the naive and honorable youths of the past.

”He wanted to demolish my house to make it a ’drug’ storage, and he harmed many people. I had to kill him.”

Lin Zifeng’s tone remained calm, his face resolute yet smiling under the sunlight.

”So, what was your purpose for calling me here today, Lin?”

Gao Yunchong slowly stood up, his gaze unfriendly.

Having not seen each other for many years, to meet under these circumstances was truly painful for Lin Zifeng too. But despite the pain, he didn’t want to harm anyone nor did he want others to do harm.

They used to be brothers, but this so-called brother had taken all his money and even wanted to demolish his cherished old house to turn it into a ’drug’ den. Even if Lin Zifeng could tolerate much, his principles never allowed room for ’trouble.’

”Did you take my bank deposits?”

At that moment, Lin Zifeng turned his head back, his face still wearing a smile, and asked.

”That... When you suddenly disappeared, Lin, the brothers all needed to eat, so...”

”So you took my money to squander around? And had someone kill Zhang Hanming, who never got along with you? Then you and Liu Laowu teamed up for the drug trade? Seeing the profits in Zhonghai City’s market, you wanted to demolish my old house and turn it into your factory? Doing your deadly dealings unseen and undetected?”

Lin Zifeng stared coldly into Gao Yunchong’s eyes, each word striking directly at his heart, including guessing every true detail of the events.

His face turned deathly white.

Especially under Lin Zifeng’s penetrating and soul-stirring gaze, Gao Yunchong clearly had a guilty conscience, hastening to retreat backwards.

At last, he could not withstand the majestic authority emanating from Lin Zifeng!

He swung his head and rushed into the BMW, and Lin Zifeng did not stop him.

Under the night sky of August, a gentle breeze was blowing, and the pitch-black sky occasionally emitted a few cries of night birds. Within tens of miles, no fireworks could be seen.

The surroundings presented a scene of desolate wilderness, with weeds growing wildly all around.

Gao Yunchong, in a panic, drove the BMW, his gaze fixed on Lin Zifeng’s face illuminated by the nearby headlights. Under the glow of the headlights, Lin Zifeng, still lowering his head, deeply inhaled his cigarette as if he had paid no attention to Gao Yunchong’s departure.

However, after Gao Yunchong started the BMW, he did not leave immediately but instead, his face twisted ferociously, and sweat the size of beans started to slowly trickle down from his forehead.

”Haha! I took the money, what can you do about it? Demolishing your house was also my idea. It’s not like five years ago. Do you really think you’re still the top guy from back then? Now I respect you enough to call you Brother Lin. If you piss me off today, you’ll go to your death!”

Gao Yunchong completely lost his sanity and furiously stepped on the gas pedal. Instantly, the BMW car burst forth with a roar, rushing out with a howling sound.

The glaring headlights shone, and the high-speed sonic boom instantly filled Lin Zifeng’s eyes and ears.

When the BMW was less than one meter away from Lin Zifeng, filled with fear, excitement, thrill, and madness, Gao Yunchong recklessly charged forward almost hysterically.

Everyone thought that this time Lin Zifeng was surely dead.

But just as the BMW was about to strike Lin Zifeng, a white light reflected in Gao Yunchong’s eyes. When he opened his eyes again, he found that Lin Zifeng had disappeared without a trace!

Instantly, large droplets of sweat flowed down from Gao Yunchong’s forehead.

When Gao Yunchong looked back instinctively, he saw a refined face with a tinge of vicissitudes smiling intensely at him.

And his smile was so affectionate, like a father doting on his child, even Lin Zifeng’s gaze was incredibly soft!

Gao Yunchong thought he was dreaming. When he focused his gaze, he saw Lin Zifeng’s ghostly palm instantly attacking his head.

”Crack!”

Gao Yunchong did not even grunt; his entire being was lifeless, sitting in the driver’s seat still maintaining the driving posture, but his head had completely shifted position!

Lin Zifeng had brutally twisted his head, altering its position.

A pair of eyes filled with shock, helplessness, and fear still stared at Lin Zifeng.

But the blood flowing from his mouth like a creek created a sinister aura inside the BMW.

...

Ten minutes later, Gao Yunchong’s body was pushed by Lin Zifeng into the pond along with the BMW.

By the time people discovered him, his body would probably be eaten clean by the fish.

Moreover, even if the police investigated, it would be at most deemed a case of drunk driving.

For such a person, who was duplicitous and called a brother only in public, Lin Zifeng had seen through them. Having been abroad for many years, what kind of brotherly loyalty hadn’t he seen? Yet, who ultimately traded their life for another’s?

In the world of mercenaries, there are never cooperative partners, only eternal interests. Trusting your back to so-called comrades is undoubtedly courting death! Back then, he was too loyal, which resulted in life-threatening situations for two years. The old man told him, whatever you do, either don’t do it, or don’t leave any potential threats to your future.
