Urban All-Round Master

Chapter 173: Chapter 176: That’s How It’s Done on TV

Chapter 176: That’s How It’s Shown in TV Dramas

What on earth is this guy thinking? Could it be that I, Nangong Bing, am more filthy than he is? Does he really see me as such a despicable image in his heart? Even if I took a huge step back, even if I were to fancy an idiot, how could I possibly fancy him? He doesn’t think about it. Me, invade a mere, not to mention extraordinary, security guard? What a joke. It’s downright laughable.

”You, you...”

Nangong Bing’s pale fingers trembled slightly as she pointed at Lin Zifeng, recalling what she had just said. She felt a surge of melancholy, but she couldn’t lose her temper. Instead, she forced herself to suppress the burst of emotions that she desperately wanted to release.

On the other hand, Lin Zifeng looked utterly wronged, as if he had just been violently manhandled by Nangong Bing. He was the picture of misery. If there were bystanders, they would definitely suspect that Nangong Bing had just done something to Lin Zifeng.

But that wasn’t the case at all.

”Lin! You’re ruthless! We’ll have plenty of time to battle it out later.”

Uh... Did I somehow offend this missy? She was the one who insisted I strip like a man, and threatened me. When I tried to be a bit modest, she still threatened me?

Sigh. It really is hard to be a man, even harder to be a good one.

”Boss, you’re really being unreasonable. It was clearly you who insisted I take off my clothes and even threatened me, saying that no one would care even if I screamed my lungs out. Even if we step back a thousand times,

if you really wanted to look, according to logic and following the plot, shouldn’t I be modestly playing pure? If in a TV drama a woman wants to take advantage of a man, don’t they start with resistance, and then act modest? Only later, when forced and unable to resist, do they give up, isn’t that how it’s shown on TV?”

Lin Zifeng felt greatly wronged inside. She was the one who forced me to take off my pants. At the very least, I should be allowed some modesty, right? Is that wrong?

”You... you! Lin, are you doing this on purpose to infuriate me? When did I provoke you or ask you to act all coy and pure with me? With that bear-like face of yours, do you even need to play pure? Did you even see what you look like, acting all pure in front of me, Nangong Bing?”

”Uh... If I don’t even act modest, that doesn’t seem right, does it?” Lin Zifeng said with a helpless look.

”You damned bastard Lin! Are you deliberately messing with me today? When did I ask you to take off your pants for me? When did I try to take advantage of you? Have a look in the mirror, if you dare, and look at your pathetic figure. Apart from having a good body, what other assets do you have to act pure in front of me? I’ll tell you, I, Nangong Bing, am standing right here, and I want to see if you dare to take a shower in front of me.”

What the hell! Has this woman gone mad today? It’s just a bath, is it worth getting so worked up over? It’s as if I owe her hundreds of thousands. It’s not that big of a deal. I might as well not shower today.

”Fine! Since you’re so interested, go ahead and stand there, boss, I won’t shower.”

Lin Zifeng, feeling frustrated, rolled his eyes and walked out, his body clad in only a pair of light blue boxer shorts. Everything that needed to be revealed was already exposed, so as long as Nangong Bing wasn’t afraid, why would he feel worried?

Seeing Lin Zifeng coming out in just a pair of underwear, Nangong Bing’s pretty face turned red, but considering she’d already seen everything, she decided not to care. In the past, when swimming at overseas beaches, didn’t everyone wear bikinis? And Lin Zifeng was wearing large boxer shorts, so it couldn’t count as peeping, right?

Nangong Bing leaned against the door curtain, her mind in turmoil, trying to justify her actions to herself.

As Lin Zifeng walked past Nangong Bing, he didn’t provoke her. This woman could be cold, fiery, or violent at times, and Lin Zifeng couldn’t afford to provoke her. But that didn’t mean he couldn’t avoid her, right?

But as he passed by Nangong Bing, suddenly she frowned deeply, her expression exaggerated as she gasped with her sexy little mouth, her fair hand covering it in shock, staring at the scars on Lin Zifeng’s back.

Because Lin Zifeng’s back was marked with dozens of significant, nearly full-coverage scars!

The scars looked like dragons coiling on his broad and sturdy back, resembling ancient behemoths or two serpents locked in combat.

Seeing the numerous deep scars crisscrossing Lin Zifeng’s back, Nangong Bing was completely shocked!

What was the background of this guy? To have so many scars on his body, she had thought he was just a security guard who got the job through connections and was waiting to die, but she hadn’t expected to see such noticeable scars! Could it be that he really was a soldier before?

While Nangong Bing was caught up in her speculations, Lin Zifeng suddenly turned around and said, ”Hey boss, about that full-attendance bonus you still haven’t given me... You’re not planning to cheat me, are you? Heh heh.”

Cheat you? Nangong Bing was stunned!

Would I, Nangong Bing, cheat you out of a thousand yuan? Did you bang your head in a door or get water in your brain from the shower?

”Don’t worry! I, Nangong Bing, have never owed anyone.” Initially still speculating about his past and contemplating whether he was as tough as the mercenaries shown in the movies, Lin Zifeng’s turn completely disrupted Nangong Bing’s train of thought, sending Lin Zifeng’s ugly image straight to the eighteenth level of hell.

”If you don’t owe anything, that’s the best.” Lin Zifeng laughed.

”Hmph!”

Nangong Bing snorted coldly, raised her head proudly, and swaggered away in front of Lin Zifeng, preferring to leave with dignity in front of others rather than to bow her head in defeat.

Watching Nangong Bing leave with such insufferable arrogance, Lin Zifeng smiled helplessly to himself.

After going upstairs, the little girl Hua Buqi’s room door quickly ’snap’ closed, as if fearing Lin Zifeng would catch her peeking just moments before.

Lin Zifeng couldn’t help but smile bitterly. This mischievous little girl always liked to do inexplicable things. It seemed she might have overheard what happened in the bathroom just now. Luckily, he hadn’t brought up the matter of having a wife with Nangong Bing, otherwise, heaven knows what kind of frenzy this girl would have gone into.

After returning to his room, who knows when Nangong old man had already been waiting for quite a while.

”Old man, judging by your look, there must be some tricky business brewing, right? Come on, what is it this time?”

Lin Zifeng was dressing.

And there was Nangong Shui, chuckling while holding a purple clay pot, ”I say, Zifeng, could you stop calling me old man? It sounds so unpleasant. After all, I’m somewhat your future father-in-law, aren’t I? At the very least, you should call me Uncle Nangong, shouldn’t you?”

Whenever Nangong Shui showed up, it definitely wasn’t for anything good. For this crafty and unscrupulous old man, as soon as he poked out his hind end, Lin Zifeng could almost guess what sort of crap he intended to pull.

Being able to raise Tianyu’s reputation and notoriety overseas, even rivalling the world’s top 500 businesses, this guy definitely had some substantial backing. Although the once-glorious Tianyu had become history, it had still stirred up the whole of Asia, evidencing how exceptional Nangong Shui was and his decisive business acumen.

”Forget it, let’s skip the Uncle title, and definitely don’t mention father-in-law. Your precious daughter; I really can’t handle her. Find someone else for her, will you? As for this fiancé title, you can find someone else for that, too. If it comes to it, consider this me calling off the engagement.”

Truth be told, these past few days, Lin Zifeng really wasn’t winning over many people at the company, especially Nangong Bing herself. At home, he had to guard against her. At work, he still had to watch out for her setting him up. If he performed even slightly below par one day, she might actually have him thrown out.

The least of it being that she didn’t acknowledge their engagement. Why stick around pestering and being shamelessly obstinate about it? Although Lin Zifeng was thick-skinned, he wasn’t shameless to that extent.

”Don’t say that, let’s talk it over nicely. Don’t talk about leaving every time something comes up. How does that work? We had an agreement, how can you go back on your word now? That’s not your style, right? Besides, the matter of your marriage to her was arranged by our elders. How can you just change your mind on a whim? I can assure you, once you win over my Bingbing, I won’t say another word and will arrange your wedding, how about that?”

Hmph! Nangong old man, do you think you can fool me with all that talk? Others may not see through you, but can I, Lin Zifeng, be deceived so easily? Call off the engagement? What international joke is this? Given this ’fine’ arrangement from my parents, even if you kicked me out, I wouldn’t leave.

Lin Zifeng considered himself shrewder than Nangong Shui. If he didn’t say these things out loud, Nangong Shui would definitely believe he had unilaterally fallen for his daughter, putting Lin at a disadvantage. It was better to raise it himself and prompt Nangong Shui to take the initiative – wouldn’t that be the better choice?

The reason Nangong Shui had Lin Zifeng court his daughter was mostly out of consideration for Nangong Bing. He knew his daughter’s temperament very well; to see her paired up with Lin Zifeng was more unbearable to her than death.

Anyway, Lin Zifeng was pretty indifferent now as he had returned to the country, so he might as well continue enjoying his lazy days.

”Nangong old man, you can’t have come to my room today just to talk about this, right? This doesn’t seem like your style,” said Lin Zifeng.

”Hehe, you saw right through me. Since we’re both smart people, I won’t beat around the bush,” Nangong Shui dropped his playful facade and turned serious, ”You know, Tianyu had its days of glory as well as downfall. We’ve also offended quite a few business rivals. Now, Bingbing has taken the helm as the president of the group. I’ve offended many people in the past, and Bingbing, being somewhat green for the world of commerce, might not grasp things well enough. That’s why I’d like you to protect her, preferably up close, since you two have a marital connection. You wouldn’t let anything happen to your fiancée, would you?”

Just as Lin Zifeng predicted, this old rascal would never engage in a losing deal. In terms of combat power, in terms of intelligence, Lin Zifeng ranked quite high among mercenaries.

Nobody else could be a better pick than him.

”So what’s in it for me?”

Lin Zifeng asked with a smile.

”Eh... recently, I lost thirty million gambling on horses in Macau, another fifty million playing cards in Las Vegas, and in Tokyo, with the Japanese, I played...”

As soon as they got to benefits, the shrewd old man immediately brought up his troubles and started playing poor in front of Lin Zifeng.
