Chapter 165: The Blue-Eyed Psychiatric Nurse

Watching her quasi-smiling, coy face, Lin Zifeng even began to suspect that this woman might harbor an unscrupulous conspiracy.

Women with the appearance of an angel and the heart of a demon are all too common in this world.

Nobody knows what she’ll do to Lin Zifeng later. The cliche of a sharp-tongued but soft-hearted character only exists in melodramatic movie plots; in reality, most are disappointing.

”Maybe let’s not do the injection?”

Lin Zifeng felt a bit helpless, realizing he had encountered a woman with a demonic heart.

Considering this woman boasted a title of genius, expert in scheming and maneuvers, Lin Zifeng wasn’t sure he could outmatch her.

Watching her alluring eyes without any attempt at disguise, Lin Zifeng chuckled, not bothering to respond.

But Zheng Mengdi was perceptive, her studies in psychology enabling her to see straight through the little devious thoughts in Lin Zifeng’s heart.

Slowly removing her mask, she said with a seductive smile, ”Do you like me, by any chance?”

To utter such words in full view of everyone, Lin Zifeng was rather surprised.

He instinctively replied, ”You’re very beautiful. Any normal man would have some thoughts about you.”

Lin Zifeng was honest—after all, she indeed was beautiful, with her mixed heritage providing exotic charm, and the detainee xx enhancing her allure.

”So, do you have thoughts about me?”

Without concern for those around, Zheng Mengdi’s steadfast gaze searched Lin Zifeng’s eyes, evidently eager to know something. Of course! With three years of employment experience, Lin Zifeng was more than capable of handling such rudimentary psychology.

Internally, he smirked coldly.

On the surface, however, he maintained the facade of a gentleman: ”Yes! Very much so!”

Under Lin Zifeng’s candid response, Zheng Mengdi was quite pleased, her own allure obviously not limited to this, suggesting her thesis for the year was nearly complete.

As a fashion model, lacking the ability to captivate an audience was tantamount to failure.

Just when Zheng Mengdi felt a flicker of joy, Lin Zifeng’s next words made her instantly alert.

Lin Zifeng slowly climbed up from the stretcher, resting one hand on the ambulance wall, then with a piercing gaze, he gradually leaned his head towards Zheng Mengdi’s face.

Ignoring the gazes of everyone inside the ambulance—gladly Fan Jian was taken to another vehicle—Lin Zifeng’s behavior would have certainly startled him otherwise.

Under Lin Zifeng’s undisguised bold gaze, Zheng Mengdi didn’t show fear. Instead, twirling her golden hair seductively, she locked eyes with Lin Zifeng, whose gaze never wavered, her face bloomingly peach-like and her heart calm, all the while smiling.

Lin Zifeng wore a mischievous smirk, edging his sharply defined face closer, then unwavering, he brought his mouth just within inches of Zheng Mengdi’s lips. Their mouths were mere centimeters apart. As Lin Zifeng’s mouth drew nearer, Zheng Mengdi’s calm demeanor remained, and her smile didn’t fade.

Ten centimeters!

Eight centimeters!

Five centimeters!

...

In the end, it was Lin Zifeng who retreated, not moving any further, stopping with their lips only three centimeters apart. He laughed, ”Aren’t you scared?”

By now, Lin Zifeng had realized that this blonde, blue-eyed girl was not as simple as he had imagined.

He had thought to tease her a bit, but he hadn’t expected to be the one teased by her.

”Scared? Why would I be scared? Besides, you have mental barriers, and I can see that actually, your heart isn’t as bad as you seem on the surface. In fact, you have a very kind heart.”

Zheng Mengdi, secretive and deep, fixed her gaze into Lin Zifeng’s eyes, as if searching for something she wanted, but sadly for her, Lin Zifeng’s eyes were as deep as water, calm as a flowing stream.

”Oh? You can read faces?” Lin Zifeng looked at her with interest.

”No.”

”Then how can you tell that I have a kind heart?”

”Eyes.”

”I haven’t noticed that.”

”Because you’ve been deliberately disguising yourself, hiding yourself.”

”You understand me?”

”Not at all, we’re not acquainted in the slightest.”

”Then how can you perceive my inner self? Just from the eyes?”

”I feel, my feeling tells me, you are not as bad as you appear,” Zheng Mengdi calmly stated.

”Heh, are you sure your feeling is right?” Lin Zifeng was indeed interested, not expecting that a few days after returning to the country, he would bump into a different kind of woman. He was indeed quite intrigued to learn more about her.

”I don’t know, I can’t see through you, but my intuition tells me you are not a bad person.”

The conversation between the two was as unfathomable as a conversation with a profound mafia boss, even the other nurses in the car exchanged puzzled glances, not understanding. They only knew that this Zheng Mengdi was a top student who graduated from a prestigious school in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and also knew that the dean of the hospital was her father, but they really didn’t understand much else because Zheng Mengdi often did things that didn’t make sense to them and weren’t the usual way of doing things, just to speak of her nurse’s attire.

The domestic nurse’s uniform is usually very plain and white, but she, once she returned to the country, established a team of beautiful nurses, each dressed provocatively, and even started something like a nurse uniform fetish, gathering all of the hospital’s best-figured, most beautiful girls together to form an emergency organization.

The dean was very much against it at the time, but she was adamant, saying that the medical teams in China were just too poor and far behind those emergency organizations in Europe and America.

According to Zheng Mengdi’s proposal, multiple international experiments have shown that by the time the hospital’s medical team arrives, the patient’s condition has usually already deteriorated, especially those with malignant conditions. Most of the time is wasted on the way, and experiments have shown that nearly thirty percent of the world’s critically ill patients waste the best time for rescue in the ambulance journey.

But ever since Zheng Mengdi changed the nurse uniforms in the ambulance, and replaced the staff with a group of strong and beautiful women, the number of lives saved by emergency personnel in Zhonghai City has significantly decreased. This has proven that most people requiring emergency services share a commonality—they suffer from insufficient cerebral blood supply and a heartbeat close to stopping. During these times, it is necessary to stimulate their blood circulation to re-oxygenate the brain, maintaining life for a short time.

Since Zheng Mengdi’s scientific view was established, it has stirred up a huge storm in the entire medical field!

But the ultimate problem was, what if the patient in the car was a woman?

Should they enlist male models?

As a scholar of psychology, Zheng Mengdi faced a new challenge.

She was hailed as the genius girl of the East.

It’s just a pity she preferred to keep a low profile, so her fame within the country was never that loud.

She would rather pursue what she liked than to make a public spectacle of herself.

”Intuition? Haha, do you think your intuition is very accurate?”

Lin Zifeng chuckled dryly.

”You want to sleep with me,” Zheng Mengdi stated simply with a calm, placid smile.

”...”

While she remained calm as water, Lin Zifeng was somewhat speechless; this woman was truly not simple. Eyes are the windows to the soul as well as the enemies that betray us—good or bad are both easily exposed. As of now, Zheng Mengdi might not have guessed entirely accurately, but she was more or less spot-on.

”You’re right, I did want to sleep with you, but now I’ve changed my mind. A poor little security guard like me, even if I threw myself at you, you probably wouldn’t want me,” he said.

”If I’m not mistaken, the bracelet on your wrist should be one of the Black Jade varieties produced in Africa, right? Without a market value of six million, it would probably be hard to acquire,

If it’s the purest type of Black Jade, it would be priceless. And the shirt you’re wearing must be a limited-edition piece fought over by the rich and powerful from several countries at the fashion show exhibition in France a few years ago by a master from South Africa. To be clad in such attire, you dare to stand in front of me pretending to be poor?”

An expert can tell at a glance, and sure enough, as she said, Lin Zifeng felt completely exposed in front of her, without a shred of cover; this woman was not just sharp-eyed,

but also particularly intelligent. Her seemingly simple and helpless smile was, on the contrary, filled with cunning wisdom. No wonder she hid so deeply. Last time in the hospital, in their hurried parting, he hadn’t even noticed.

The longer he spent in her presence, the more Lin Zifeng felt as if he were naked, transparent to her sight.

Simply smiling without speaking, as soon as the car stopped, Lin Zifeng scrambled away swiftly.

But soon after Lin Zifeng had departed, Zheng Mengdi’s blue pupils showed a hint of confusion and incomprehension as she watched his retreating figure.

Because Lin Zifeng’s figure was too similar to a person she knew, and that person was the man shrouded in mystery whom she had always known...

In the morning, receiving a phone call from Li Lin, and now the sky was also growing dark, Lin Zifeng, without even changing his clothes, rushed to Nangong Bing’s villa, and without a word, drove out a BMW 7 series from the warehouse.

He had to take advantage of the fact that the young lady Hua Buqi was out to be able to drive it away; otherwise, she would definitely settle accounts with him. Not only would he end up without the car, but he would also get tagged as a car thief.

After all, Nangong Bing had not yet gotten off work, and with so many cars in the garage, even if one were driven out, what could she possibly notice?

Besides, isn’t it natural for a husband to drive his wife’s car?

As for Fan Jian’s matter, someone would solve it for him; he didn’t need to worry about it, especially since it wasn’t trouble he had caused. Dealing with those fools who think too highly of themselves, Lin Zifeng had seen many; letting them gain some experience might not be a bad thing.

Soon, after about an hour’s drive, Lin Zifeng, taking a shortcut this time, arrived in front of the decrepit old house he’d lived in for twenty years. Recalling the past scenes, tears involuntarily started to well up in Lin Zifeng’s eyes.

Five years! A full five years! Every time he thought of the past, Lin Zifeng’s heart felt especially sad, particularly his eyes, which often revealed a trace of emotion; this was also the link that allowed the little nurse Zheng Mengdi to see through some of it.

With heavy steps, Lin Zifeng wanted to enter and see once again, but feared arousing his most painful past. He opted to stand at the doorway, motionless for a long time. The BMW also stopped nearby.

But not long after, a middle-aged man in his forties passed by Lin Zifeng’s side. He slowed his pace, with a mix of suspicion and perplexity.

When he approached to say hello, he discovered that this man was actually his nephew who had mysteriously disappeared five years ago!
