After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 2287: Chapter 2291: I’m Not That Timid

This outcome was already within Leng Zirui’s expectations.

Someone like Luo Ke couldn’t possibly be found so easily.

He walked back, sat in the car, but didn’t leave immediately. Instead, he studied the map, carefully observing the nearby terrain.

Although Luo Ke wasn’t in the car, the fact that the car appeared here proved that Luo Ke had been here. There must be a purpose for his visit.

Xu Xia, curious about what he was studying, leaned over to look at the map.

Noticing the blue sea under her eyelids, Xu Xia marveled aloud, ”It seems like we’re almost at the seaside, right?”

The seaside?!

Leng Zirui’s eyes lit up.

”Yes, it must be the dock.”

”What dock?” Xu Xia asked, puzzled.

Leng Zirui raised his face and kissed her cheek, ”Good wife, I always said you’re my source of inspiration. Indeed, I was right. Sit tight, I’ll take you to see the sea.”

Saying that, he put away the map, started the car again, and drove towards the nearest dock.

Shortly after, the car stopped at the nearest dock. As soon as Leng Zirui drove the car into the dock, a police car had already arrived.

Bringing Xu Xia out of the car, Leng Zirui immediately approached and showed his credentials to inquire about the reason.

”Here’s the situation!” The counterpart, after checking his credentials, immediately explained, ”We received a report that someone’s speedboat was stolen here.”

”I’ll go with you to take a look.” Leng Zirui said.

A few people walked to the edge of the dock, and a middle-aged man immediately came up to greet them.

Originally, he was the one who reported the case.

”I wanted to take my son out to fish, but when we arrived at the seaside, I couldn’t find my speedboat.” The middle-aged man patted the slightly dejected boy beside him, ”Our boat has a fixed berth here.”

”Where did you dock your boat?” Leng Zirui asked.

The middle-aged man pointed to a section of the sea not far away, and sure enough, there was an empty boat berth there.

Leng Zirui retracted his gaze, ”Then how do you know your speedboat was stolen?!”

”Because I had arranged to go with a friend, he went to refuel first, and now...” The middle-aged man wiped his eyes, ”He’s dead, just there, covered in blood.”

The group hurried to the edge of the dock, and sure enough, they saw a man with half of his body in the sea, his chest full of blood.

They all worked together to pull him out, and Leng Zirui conducted a simple examination of the man’s body; he was already dead, with a clear gunshot wound on his chest.

Two police officers seeing this, immediately requested reinforcements.

Leng Zirui saw Xu Xia frowning and quickly pulled her aside, ”Don’t look at these things. Be careful, you’ll have nightmares.”

”I’m not that timid...” Xu Xia pouted, but as she was speaking, she suddenly felt a churn in her throat and rushed to the sea’s edge.

Seeing a dead body for the first time, and such a bloody one at that, would naturally make any normal person feel uneasy, which was nothing unusual.

”I told you not to look, but you insisted.” Leng Zirui took out a handkerchief to wipe the dirt from the corner of her lips while taking out his cellphone to call Qiao, ”I found traces of Luo Ke at the dock. I estimate that he fled to sea on a stolen speedboat. I suspect he’s heading for his island. Send someone to meet Xu Xia, I’m going to find a boat to chase after him now.”

”Alright, I’ll come over personally.” Qiao immediately said.
