After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 2285: Chapter 2289: Is It Really That Soft?

Seeing Leng Zirui take out his phone, Xu Xia obediently stopped and quit fooling around with him.

”Hello?!”

”Rui, it’s me. I’ve already returned to the city and I’m on my way to Luo Ke’s villa now.”

”Okay, I’ll be there right away.” Leng Zirui hung up and immediately grabbed Xu Xia’s arm. ”Come on, let’s get out of here first.”

The two went downstairs together. When they saw the two henchmen Leng Zirui had shot dead lying below, Xu Xia merely flinched, her face showing a jolt of shock.

”Don’t look around. I don’t want you having nightmares.” Leng Zirui raised his hand to cover her eyes, held her close as they walked out through the villa’s front door, then helped her into the car, carefully fastened her seatbelt, shut the door, and only then walked around to the driver’s side, got in, and drove the car toward Luo Ke’s castle.

”How did it go? Did everything go smoothly?” Xu Xia asked in a low voice.

”We didn’t catch Luo Ke or Lei Qingqing. They’re both still on the run.” Leng Zirui replied.

”Those two bastards...” Xu Xia gritted her teeth to herself. ”They actually managed to get away.”

”Don’t worry, I’m not going to let them slip off. Unless they can run all the way to outer space, I’m definitely going to drag them back.” Leng Zirui said.

”When we catch that Lei Qingqing, I am so going to give her a good beating.” Xu Xia said angrily.

Leng Zirui shot her a wicked grin. ”What, still jealous?”

”Tch, as if!” Xu Xia rolled her eyes at him. ”It’s because of what she tried to do to me.”

Thinking about it now, Xu Xia still felt a lingering fear.

Thank god ROY hadn’t really been ROY, but Leng Zirui instead.

If that night it had been the real ROY, what would she have done?!

It was a question she hardly dared to keep thinking about.

At a red light, Leng Zirui brought the car to a halt. He glanced at her profile, guessed what was on her mind, then reached over, brushed her hair and gently turned her face toward him.

”Look at me properly.”

Xu Xia turned her eyes and looked at him.

His gaze was soft on her as he spoke, his tone unusually serious. ”No matter what’s happened, you’re my woman, Leng Zirui’s woman. That’s a fact no one can change... Stop overthinking it. Even if that night it hadn’t been me, I wouldn’t hold it against you. So remember this... whatever happens in the future, don’t go doing anything stupid, because I don’t want anything happening to my wife, got it?”

Heat welled up in Xu Xia’s eyes. She couldn’t get any words out, only nodded lightly.

”Silly girl.” Leng Zirui brushed the corner of her eye with his fingertip, his heart aching, though his mouth deliberately teased, ”People always say women are made of water. I used to think you were made of stone, that you couldn’t cry. Turns out you’re made of water too.”

”Drop dead!” Xu Xia burst out laughing. ”You’re the one who’s made of stone. Is there a stone as soft as me?”

”Soft?” Leng Zirui swept a mischievous glance over her chest and reached his hand toward her. ”Is it really that soft? Let me feel.”

Xu Xia’s face flushed red as she slapped his hand away. ”Just drive!”

Hearing the lightness back in her voice, Leng Zirui only chuckled, pulled his hand back, and drove on.

They drove to the outside of Luo Ke’s castle, where they saw several police cars around the castle, lights flashing and sirens blaring, and helicopters whirring in the sky above.

Leng Zirui got out with Xu Xia, and Qiao, who was directing the operation, immediately came over to greet them.

Leng Zirui took the initiative to speak. ”Let me introduce you.”

”No need, this must be Xu Xia, Miss Xu.” Qiao said with a smile, reaching a hand out to her. Leng Zirui had entrusted him before to look into Xu Xia, so he had already gone through her file and naturally recognized her.
