After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 2277: Chapter 2281: The Sooner the Better

After finally managing to track down Leng Zirui, Shangguan Feng was absolutely unwilling to just let this lead go.

Feeling his way toward Leng Zirui’s position, Shangguan Feng pulled out his phone and dialed Randy’s number.

”Sir?!”

Randy’s voice was trembling.

Although he didn’t know exactly what was happening, he had naturally heard that dense gunfire.

”Call the police immediately,” Shangguan Feng ordered in a low voice. ”The faster the better!”

”Okay.” Randy hung up, his hand shaking.

Shangguan Feng shoved the phone back into his pocket and immediately jogged quickly down the mountain.

He had already made up his mind: this time he was going to keep Leng Zirui in sight no matter what, and absolutely could not let him slip away again.

Randy’s fingers trembled as he pressed the emergency number. Once the call connected, he hurriedly blurted out, ”Quick, there’s someone shooting and killing people in XX Cemetery. I’m not lying to you, they’ve got guns and they’re firing right now.”

It was the first time he’d ever run into something like this, so his level of fear was obvious. He had no heart to go into detail about the situation; he just wanted the police to get there fast, so even his report was extremely simple and direct.

The police took such a call very seriously, and immediately asked Randy for the precise address. ”Just find somewhere safe to hide. We’re heading over right away.”

Randy hung up and ran back into the car, while the police side had already started rapid deployment.

Behind the rockery, Leng Zirui’s cigarette was about one-third finished.

In the woods, the fight between both sides was still going on.

This time, in order to wipe out both Luo Ke and Leng Zirui, those two major heavyweights, Lei Qingqing had practically mobilized most of the elite forces in Rome City. There were at least fifty or sixty people, all extremely well-armed.

Luo Ke had brought a little over forty men, while Leng Zirui had transferred in roughly thirty of Rui’s former subordinates from the United States, including Mount Tai. Added together, their numbers weren’t that far off from Lei Qingqing’s forces. With the complex terrain in the woods, Qin Shan and the others had the upper hand at the start thanks to the ambush. But once Lei Qingqing’s men reacted, Qin Shan and the others’ advantage became much less obvious.

As Lei Wenting’s top lieutenant, Lei Qingqing’s skills were anything but ordinary.

With a sniper rifle in her hands, nearly every shot she fired took down a man. Casualties were heavy on both sides.

Up on the slope, Qiao watched Leng Zirui behind the rockery through his binoculars, his hands clenched tight.

”Hoo!”

Leng Zirui lazily blew out a cloud of smoke, still not throwing the phone out.

He was still waiting.

The gunfire was still very dense, which meant both sides’ numbers hadn’t been drastically reduced yet. This was not the best moment. Leng Zirui wasn’t just a bedroom schemer; he was a General. Command was what he did best. In his eyes, victory and minimizing his own side’s losses were equally important.

He was never someone who would stop at nothing just to win. He cared about the life of every one of his men. So he waited, waited for the optimal moment to act, to cut his side’s casualties down to the minimum.

Just then, sirens suddenly wailed at the foot of the mountain.

Because of Randy’s report, the police had responded quickly, diverting every unit they could spare. This patrol car happened to be working nearby, so it arrived especially fast.

”Sir, the police are here!” the bodyguard said urgently.

”We leave here first,” Luo Ke ordered at once.
