After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 1998: Chapter 2002: The Fall of a Superstar

In the bathroom, Xu Xia had just adjusted the water temperature and was preparing to help Luo Jun undress. Hearing Lan Zi calling her from outside, Xu Xia replied loudly and then gently touched the little one’s soft hair, ”Godmother will step out for a moment, I’ll be right back. Don’t move around, okay? Be good!”

Luo Jun nodded, and Xu Xia stood up and walked out of the bathroom into the living room.

”What’s wrong?!”

The sound of water from behind the closed door meant Xu Xia hadn’t clearly heard what Lan Zi said.

Lan Zi was already holding a newspaper and walked near the bathroom. Seeing Xu Xia come out, she immediately handed the newspaper to her.

”Look at this!”

Noticing Lan Zi’s unusual expression, Xu Xia took the newspaper from her with some confusion.

On the newspaper’s international section, the front page featured a photo of Leng Zimo.

Seeing Leng Zimo, Xu Xia curiously looked at the headline, which was written in bold English—”The Fall of a Genius Superstar”?!

Her heart tightened.

Anxiously, Xu Xia looked at the news content below. It reported a shooting incident that took place in the luxury hotel where Leng Zimo was staying in Rome City. Such a significant case naturally had major ramifications, and the media had already flocked to the scene upon catching wind of it. Someone seemed to have leaked internal information, which the media immediately exposed.

Of course, as the details were unclear, the report was speculative and did not confirm that the victim was definitely Leng Zimo, but such news was enough to make Xu Xia’s fingers tremble.

Others might not know, but she was well aware of the dangerous people Leng Zimo was involved with. Could it really be that something had happened to him?!

Xu Xia’s heart was in turmoil.

Panicking, she walked over to the coffee table, fished her phone out of her handbag, and with trembling fingers, pulled up her phonebook, yet she didn’t know who to call.

Leng Zirui?

There was no way to reach him on his phone right now.

Call Leng Lin?

That wouldn’t work either!

If this were true, could the elderly bear such a blow?!

...

Holding the phone, Xu Xia was filled with helplessness and confusion.

”Godmother?” The bathroom door was pushed open, and Luo Jun poked out his little head, ”The water’s almost full, should I turn off the faucet?”

”Oh!” Xu Xia hurriedly hid the newspaper behind her, ”Is it... okay, godmother will be right there!”

She shoved the phone and newspaper into Lan Zi’s hands, giving her a look to indicate she should put the newspaper away, then quickly walked into the bathroom. Sure enough, the water in the bathtub was more than half full, and she hurriedly turned off the faucet.

”Did something happen?!” Luo Jun followed her in, curiously asking.

”Nothing.” Xu Xia said in as relaxed a tone as she could muster, squatting down to unbutton his short-sleeved shirt, ”Come on, let’s take a bath!”

Since she couldn’t confirm whether the news was true or not, she didn’t dare tell the little one.

The disappearance of Luo Xiaoqian alone had already saddened the little guy a lot. If he knew something happened to Leng Zimo as well, how could such a young child bear it?!

After helping the little one undress and carefully testing the water temperature to ensure it was suitable, Xu Xia gently placed him into the bathtub.

”How is it, Mo Mo, is this temperature okay?!”

”Mm.” Mo Mo nodded.

With an extended palm, Xu Xia carefully bathed the little one.

”Haha... it tickles, godmother, be gentle...”

Being scrubbed by her hands made the little one giggle and giggle in the bathtub.
