After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 1974: Chapter 1978: Take It Slow

”I’m sorry, Luo Ke.” Luo Xiaoqian lifted her face apologetically. ”I... I can’t do it...”

Even though he said he was her lover, even though he said the two of them had once been deeply in love, even though she was carrying his child in her belly... to her, the Luo Ke in front of her was completely like a stranger. To get intimate with him was something she simply couldn’t do.

Luo Ke was a little disappointed, but looking at her like this, he couldn’t bring himself to get angry.

”It’s okay, Sissi. I’m not in a hurry. We can take it slow.”

”Sir, dinner is ready.”

Outside the door, a maid’s voice came through.

”Let’s go eat. I’d originally planned to bring a Chinese chef over, but he hasn’t arrived yet, so you’ll have to make do with tonight’s dinner. But Tomorrow morning, I promise you can have the most authentic Chinese-style breakfast.” Luo Ke lifted his hand, wanting to take hers, but when he saw her instinctively shy away from his movement, he could only withdraw his hand, turn around, and lead her downstairs.

The two of them went downstairs together. Dinner was already laid out on the dining table.

In order not to get thrown into the sea to feed the fish, the chef had practically served the vegetables and fruit in their raw, original state, not even daring to add salad dressing.

Luo Xiaoqian frowned at the raw vegetables and white rice on the plate, but thinking of Luo Ke’s feelings, she still lifted her face to give him a smile and forced herself to start eating.

Seeing that she was finally willing to eat and hadn’t thrown up, Luo Ke also quietly let out a breath of relief.

He picked up his cutlery and ate raw along with her. For him, a dinner like this was simply a form of punishment. Luo Ke took only one bite before putting down his knife and fork, merely holding his wineglass and watching Luo Xiaoqian eat from across the table.

...

...

In the mountain forest.

Catching the strong stench of blood in the air, Leng Zimo abruptly halted, turned, and pushed aside the shrubs diagonally in front of him to look toward the outer edge of the woods.

In a clearing amid the shrubs, on a crooked-neck tree beside a large rock, hung a beautiful blonde woman.

The girl looked to be in her early twenties. Her chest had been pierced through by a broken, forked branch jutting from the tree trunk, bright blood running all over her body and pooling on the ground.

This girl was Roselia, the one who had died earlier in the fight with Leng Zirui.

Leng Zimo didn’t know who she was. Seeing her delicate features, he simply assumed she was another of Luo Ke’s playthings. Looking at the brutality of her death, he grew even more worried for Luo Xiaoqian.

Withdrawing his gaze, he continued forward.

Qiandao Villa was already not far away.

The two of them edged their way to the forest’s edge. Leng Zimo slowed down, pulled the binoculars from his backpack, and quickly surveyed the surroundings.

By now it was already dusk. Only the main house of the villa was lit; the exterior paths were still dark.

Because the earlier short circuit caused by Leng Zirui had also burned out the villa’s generator, workers were now rushing to repair it. To conserve the backup power, Luo Ke had only ordered the lights in the main house to be turned on.

After carefully observing the mansion and the bodyguards patrolling the area, Leng Zimo handed the binoculars to Ah Sang at his side. ”Cover me from here.”

”Okay.” Ah Sang took the binoculars, pulled a sniper rifle from the gear bag slung over him, quickly assembled it, then checked that the earpiece radio line was working. He immediately leapt up and climbed a large tree not far away. ”Sir... be careful!”

”Got it.”

Leng Zimo took a mask from his pants pocket and pulled it over his face. He then fished a handgun out of his bag, screwed on the suppressor, and after checking the gear and weapons on him, he bent over and slipped out of the woods, carefully closing in on the back of the villa.

Because of the power issue, the villa’s security system had also been affected. The darkness provided Leng Zimo with the best cover. Skirting around a flowerbed, he quickly reached the corner at the rear diagonal of the villa.
