After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 1989: Chapter 1993: Are There Any Corpses?

All the food and other supplies on the island need to be purchased from outside since it’s impossible to shop every day. The storage here contains some food, alcohol, and other necessities.

Because everyone here is familiar, the place isn’t locked.

This late, there shouldn’t be anyone coming to retrieve things. Confirming it’s temporarily safe, the extremely exhausted Leng Zimo cautiously clutches his gun, leaning against the wall beside the door, and raises a hand to press the wireless mic on his collar.

”I’m in the storage room on the right side of the villa.”

These past few days, he barely slept at all. This time, he followed Leng Zirui onto the island, then went through hours of trekking in the mountains, causing significant physical exertion.

Sitting on the ground, back against the wall, Leng Zimo holds his gun with his left hand, carefully listening to any sound outside the door, daring not to relax even slightly.

On the other end of the signal.

Leng Zirui listens to his brother’s voice coming through the earpiece, feeling both helpless and distressed.

”Hurry, there seems to be activity near the dock; he must be trying to escape from the dock.” Knowing he is temporarily safe, Leng Zirui immediately picks up speed and leads the way towards the dock, ”Everyone hurry, don’t let him take Sissi away!”

Luo Ke also speeds up upon hearing him mention Sissi.

The group rushes to the vicinity of the dock, and sure enough, a speedboat is heading far out to sea.

In the dark of night, it’s hard to see clearly how many people are on it.

Bang!

The speedboat, because it was unmanned, was just controlled by Leng Zimo using a knife to jam the throttle. It was only charging ahead recklessly; now it’s night, the wind on the sea is strong, and the speedboat quickly veers off course, entering the reef area, crashing onto the rocks and immediately exploding.

In the darkness, on the sea, it blooms like a firework on the water.

”Catch up and see if there are any bodies!”

Luo Ke stops at the dock and orders, looking at the faint light from the fire on the distant sea.

Immediately, men jump onto other boats at the dock, rushing toward the sea.

Luo Ke doesn’t hesitate and immediately turns, hurrying toward the villa. Leng Zirui also worries whether Luo Xiaoqian might, due to not knowing Leng Zimo’s identity, say something causing Luo Ke to be suspicious, so he follows Luo Ke towards the villa.

...

...

Third floor, master bedroom.

Luo Xiaoqian stands on the balcony, arms crossed, looking out at the dim night, her brows tightly furrowed.

Though she doesn’t know who the man is, she still worries about Leng Zimo’s safety.

Hearing the door open, she hurriedly turns from the balcony and walks into the room, just as Luo Ke enters with Leng Zirui from outside.

Seeing her still safely in the room, Luo Ke clearly breathes a sigh of relief.

”That man... was he caught?!” Luo Xiaoqian immediately asks him.

Luo Ke catches the concern in her tone, his brow slightly furrowing, ”Are you very worried about him?”

”I...I’m just curious.” Luo Xiaoqian covers up.

No matter who that man is, from his stealthy entry into the villa, it’s evident his relationship with Luo Ke is definitely unfriendly.

”Don’t worry.” Luo Ke, unaware Leng Zimo and Luo Xiaoqian have interacted, assumes she’s afraid, reassuringly smiles as he walks over, ”His speedboat crashed into the rocks. By now, he should have perished at sea.”

Luo Xiaoqian’s heart aches inexplicably.

That man, dead?!
