After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 1997: Chapter 2001: Resignation

”Xiao Bei, haven’t you returned to the company?”

”No, ever since you left, she hasn’t shown up either. Later, she made a phone call saying there was something very urgent at home and she had to leave immediately. She asked me to pass on a message to you, saying she’s very sorry for leaving without saying goodbye.”

With her personality, there’s no way she would irresponsibly leave just like that.

Could it be that her father took her away again?

It must be that; otherwise, why would she resign!

”President Jiao, there are so many things at the company waiting for you to handle. We’re about to go crazy, when are you coming back?”

Jiao Yang quickly regained his focus, ”I’m already buying a ticket, I’ll be back in Beijing within 24 hours.”

”I’ve sent a few urgent documents to your email. Could you take a look when you have time?”

”Okay.”

...

After giving a quick explanation to the other party, Jiao Yang hung up the phone and looked at Donnie again, ”I still need to borrow your computer.”

Donnie walked over to a tall cabinet and opened the door, ”What brand do you like?”

Inside the cabinet were various laptops, all kinds of brands.

Jiao Yang rubbed his forehead, ”I don’t understand why you’re doing this. Didn’t I introduce you to a company for work before?”

”If I leave here, these kids might be forced to sell drugs.” Donnie shrugged, ”Besides, you know I like freedom. Having to wear a tie every day makes me feel like I’m suffocating!”

In fact, Donnie isn’t truly a bad person. He’s very smart, even got a full scholarship to the University of Birmingham, but he stayed to care for his sick mother and opened this second-hand shop in the neighborhood.

The poor kids in the neighborhood often steal things to bring back, and his job is to help them process those items and post them online for sale.

Being a thief isn’t a glorious profession, but it at least sustains them. With Donnie around, these kids won’t be forced by others into selling drugs.

Looking at him, Jiao Yang didn’t say anything more. He just stood up and took a semi-used laptop from the cabinet.

Everyone has their own life. What is right and what is wrong, not even God can truly judge.

In Jiao Yang’s view, Donnie is the real angel.

Milan.

The door to the luxury hotel suite opened, and Xu Xia walked in holding Luo Jun’s small hand.

”Tonight, you’ll stay here with your godmother. When Uncle Xiao Jie and the others come, you can go back to Beijing with them, okay?”

”Uh-huh.” The little guy nodded.

”Are you sleepy? Godmother will take you for a bath and then have a good sleep.”

Lan Zi dragged her suitcase in and looked at Xu Xia’s clearly weary face, ”I’ll take him. You’ve been on the plane for over ten hours; you should rest for a bit.”

”It’s okay, I’ll do it. He’s not familiar with you and won’t be comfortable,” Xu Xia said, patting Luo Jun’s small face. ”Otherwise, my son will be shy. Let’s go, time for a bath.”

The two headed to the bathroom while Lan Zi pulled the suitcase to the living room. She noticed a newspaper on the coffee table with Leng Zimo’s photo on it. Curious, she picked up the newspaper and gasped after a quick glance.

”Xiao Xia, come and see, something happened to Leng Zimo!”
