After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 26: Chapter 26 EM’s Contract

Luo Xiaoqian felt helpless but managed to muster a smile, ”You’re right!”

Since Xu Xia’s house was in the locality, she didn’t have to worry about not having a meal even without a job, unlike her who was living from one meal to the next, unable to find a reason to be optimistic.

”Stop thinking about it—since we’re free so early, let’s go for some late-night snacks!” Xu Xia pulled her along.

”I won’t go. I want to get back early and rest!” Luo Xiaoqian hurriedly waved her off.

She hadn’t yet repaid the money she borrowed, and she didn’t feel right about letting Xu Xia spend more on her.

Seeing her disinterest, Xu Xia didn’t insist. She hailed a car, and practically shoved her friend inside, ”Then I’ll take you home!”

Once they arrived at the complex where she lived, Xu Xia left.

”Let’s talk on the phone later!”

As she watched her good friend walk away, Luo Xiaoqian turned back to her own little nest.

Exhausted, she slumped into the sofa, gazing at the ceiling, and sighed deeply. Then she stood up and rushed to the computer to turn it on.

She had to find a job quickly if she didn’t want to starve.

After jotting down several addresses and phone numbers in a notebook, she finally got up from the chair and stretched.

As she lay in bed, her thoughts naturally drifted to Leng Zimo.

Curiosity began to rise in her heart.

Just who was that man, that even Lin Shaocong, one of Capital’s Four Young Masters, was so afraid of him? Could it be that he was really from a prestigious family?!

Though she had been angry at the time, she now realized that without him, she definitely wouldn’t have escaped Young Master Lin’s clutches today.

Amidst her scattered thoughts, she fell into an exhausted sleep.

The phone by her pillow rang while Luo Xiaoqian was having a nightmare.

In the nightmare, she was endlessly running, but Young Master Lin was right behind her, about to grab her arm...

Fortunately, the ringing of the phone woke her up.

When she answered the phone, she was drenched in cold sweat.

”Is this Miss Luo Xiaoqian? My name is Ailin. I am the person in charge of the ’Huaxia Idol’ production this time. I have something I’d like to talk to you about. Do you have time?”

The woman’s voice on the other end was polite and gentle.

”Of course!” Luo Xiaoqian instantly became fully alert, ”Just tell me when and where?”

Ailin provided the address of a cafe, ”If it’s convenient for you, could you come now?”

”Of course!” Luo Xiaoqian threw off her covers and got out of bed, ”I’ll be there in half an hour!”

Half an hour later, Luo Xiaoqian, panting for breath, dashed out of the subway station and arrived at the cafe where she had arranged to meet Ailin.

As soon as she entered, a young woman in a smart suit standing by the window stood up and waved at her.

”Miss Luo, hello!” Ailin extended her hand with a smile.

”You know me?” Luo Xiaoqian asked with a curious face.

”Of course!” Ailin chuckled, ”Isn’t there a photo on your application form? Besides, I’ve seen your audition tapes.”

”I forgot!” Luo Xiaoqian stuck out her tongue in self-mockery.

The two sat down on opposite sides of the table.

After some brief small talk, Ailin got straight to the point and took out a document from her bag and handed it over, ”Actually, the reason I wanted to meet you is for you to sign this!”

”A contract?” Luo Xiaoqian glanced at the document, ”This...”

”The thing is,” Ailin continued, ”our team reviewed your singing video and unanimously agreed that you have great potential. Our audition is meant to discover new talent, and naturally, we wouldn’t let a promising candidate like you slip away!”
