After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Forgot the Wallet

Buzz!

From the side of the bed, the vibration of a cellphone sounded.

Luo Xiaoqian was startled, sure that the noise was coming from beneath the bed, she hurriedly bent down to reach for her phone.

Glancing at the caller ID, Xu Xia’s name displayed, she slid the screen to answer the call.

”Hello?”

”Hello your big head ghost, check the time, I’m giving you half an hour, get to the Hilton Hotel immediately!” As soon as she connected, Xu Xia’s voice exploded like popping beans.

Luo Xiaoqian grabbed the clothes on the dresser and threw them on, ”The Hilton Hotel, what’s going on over there, is there money to be made?”

”Don’t tell me you forgot, today is the last day for the ’Huaxia Idol’ preliminary auditions, get over here fast. Once this opportunity is gone, it’s gone for good!”

Luo Xiaoqian was shocked; how could she have forgotten such an important event? Immediately grabbing her phone, she jumped out of bed, barefoot.

”I’m on my way!” she said as she pulled on her jeans, which fit as if tailored just for her.

”I’ll line up first, you hurry over, I’ve got an insider, we’re numbers 12 and 13. Get over here quickly, if we miss our turn, we’ll have to queue up all over again, I’m filling out the form, gotta hang up now!”

On the other end, Xu Xia hung up the phone promptly.

Luo Xiaoqian did not dare to delay, having mishandled the scandal, she couldn’t afford any further delay for this audition.

She swiftly got dressed, and seeing a baseball cap and sunglasses beside her, she did not hesitate to put them on.

Moving quietly out of the bedroom and ensuring the suite was empty, she walked cautiously to the door, listened for a moment, then carefully opened it a crack to make sure no one was outside, before dashing out and into the elevator.

Upon arriving downstairs, the elevator doors dinged open, and seeing two security guards standing outside, she froze, feeling guilty as if caught in an act.

”Hello!”

Unexpectedly, the two guards greeted her with respect and stepped aside.

One of them politely asked, ”Do you need help hailing a cab?”

They...mistook her for a hotel guest?

Relief washed over Luo Xiaoqian; she put on a stern face, ”No need, thank you!”

She carefully exited the hotel, making sure no one was paying attention, then once clear, she bolted down the street to the roadside and hailed a taxi, stating the name of the Hilton Hotel.

The car sped along, but just before arriving, Luo Xiaoqian remembered she hadn’t brought any money with her. In her rush, she had forgotten her wallet, and now she had nothing but her phone.

”I’m sorry, driver, but I forgot my wallet. Just give me a second...”

The taxi driver’s face fell upon hearing that, ”Forgot your wallet? You playing me? If you’ve got no money, don’t flag down a cab. Thought you were some rich kid with how pretty you look...”

Luo Xiaoqian leaned over the seat to apologize sincerely, ”I’m really sorry, I truly forgot...”

The driver glanced at her in the rearview mirror, ”Cut the crap, pay up now. Don’t think you can use your pretty face as currency, I’m telling you, I have no respect for women like you!”

Luo Xiaoqian was instantly infuriated.

It’s just a taxi fare, was there any need to be so venomous? She hadn’t said she wouldn’t pay!

”You’re the chicken, your whole family is a bunch of chickens! Rest assured, I won’t shortchange you a cent for the fare, and you can keep the meter running for the waiting time. Don’t worry, there will be no shortage, if there’s one thing I have, it’s money!”
