After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Seeing the Male God Again

With a soft pep talk to herself, Luo Xiaoqian tugged down her baseball cap and then mustered the courage to enter Empire Building.

As soon as she stepped into the lobby, a man clad in black strode toward her and asked with a polite yet emotionless voice, ”You are Miss Luo Xiaoqian, right? Please follow me upstairs!”

Knowing he was sent by Leng Zimo, Luo Xiaoqian suppressed her nervousness and followed him into the exclusive elevator for VIPs, heading straight to the thirteenth floor.

Upon opening door 1314, the man in black raised an arm.

”Mr. Leng is in the study!”

Inside, the lights blazed brightly.

Luo Xiaoqian felt a sting in her eyes.

Thinking about the man inside, cold sweat broke out on her palms and back and her heart started beating faster.

Taking a deep breath, she gritted her teeth and walked in, step by step moving past the living room to the closed door beside the bedroom, and raised her hand.

”Come in!”

Before she could knock, the familiar icy male voice she knew too well came from inside.

Even though she had only heard him speak a few sentences, she immediately recognized his voice.

Her heart trembled violently, and after three deep breaths, she finally gathered the courage to push open the door in front of her.

The study alone was almost as large as her entire rented apartment.

Leng Zimo sat behind a large desk, wearing a silver-grey shirt with the cuffs and collar unbuttoned, revealing a hint of his chest.

There was no overhead light in the study, but the floor lamp behind him was on, casting a faint golden halo around his figure.

The handsome young man sitting behind the desk, like a Heavenly God from Greek myth, was dignified and noble, exuding tremendous pressure.

Although he was only sitting, and his gaze was slightly below hers, Luo Xiaoqian felt as if she looked up to him.

His gaze seemed to pierce through her eyes, right into her heart, making her afraid to meet his eyes.

With her head down, she walked over and carefully set down the paper bag containing clothes on the floor.

”I’m returning these clothes to you, can you... please return my things?”

Leng Zimo sat in the chair, watching her.

She had changed out of the shirt and jeans he had prepared for her, now wearing only a very ordinary hoodie and sweatpants.

She was too thin; despite deliberately tightening the hoodie to cover up, an ambiguous mark was still visible on her neck.

Under the dim lighting, the contrast between her snow-white skin and the fiery kiss mark scorched his eyes.

His gaze naturally fell upon her lips.

Without receiving a response, Luo Xiaoqian licked her dry lips out of nervousness, ”About last night, sorry, I... I didn’t know things would turn out that way, actually I... I didn’t mean to... what I’m trying to say is...”

The man’s strong presence left her somewhat incoherent.

Little did she know, her subconscious actions seemed like a provocation to him.

Leng Zimo cut her off, succinctly spitting out three words.

”I want you!”

He wants her?

What does that mean?!

Luo Xiaoqian lifted her face to look at him, a bit dazed.

Leng Zimo sat up straight against the chair back, pulled open a drawer, and took out a gold-colored card, tossing it lightly onto the desk surface in front of her.

”Credit limit of one million, you can use it as you please before I grow tired of you!”

The gold card traced a short arc of light in the air before landing on the desk, the embossed gold letters sparkling like gold itself.
