After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 12: Chapter 12 Passing the Preliminary Selection

”Hypocrisy,

your deep promises have drifted away with the west wind.

Idiot’s babble,

the reliance of my love is like a withered and falling flower.

A spark can start a prairie fire,

My passionate eyes once lit up the brightest sky.

Thunder from a clear sky,

you heartlessly let go,

at the time I needed you most

...”

As soon as she began, the entire audience was stunned.

Even Xu Wen, who had been languidly leaning back in her chair, ready to stop the audition at any moment, couldn’t help but sit up straight and listen attentively.

In Huaxia Idol’s auditions, all performances are a cappella solo singing, a format that places extremely high demands on the singer. Without instrumental accompaniment, any pitch errors are completely exposed to the listener’s ear, to say nothing of the audition judges who have exceptionally professional ears.

Besides Xu Wen, the other two men were no ordinary people either.

The middle-aged man was a well-known vocal coach in the industry, while the young man wearing glasses was a sound engineer with ears even more sensitive than machines.

Generally speaking, for a woman to cover a man’s song is more difficult due to the differences in vocal range caused by gender. Although Zhang Yusheng was known for his high notes, ”Hypocrisy” does not have many high notes, but rather a deep, sorrowful undertone, which poses a great challenge for female singers.

Standing in front of the microphone, Luo Xiaoqian sang softly.

From a young age, she loved music. Before her father passed away, her family was well-off. Her mother bought her a piano when she was very young. She inherited her mother’s talent, who had been in a cultural troupe, and showed extraordinary musical talent from an early age.

Luo Xiaoqian truly loved music.

But when her father died and their family’s fortunes declined, she couldn’t afford to attend a music academy. To take care of her mother, she dropped out of school without taking the college entrance exams, naturally putting aside any thoughts of a music academy.

To raise money, she sold her piano and sang in bars.

Several years of singing in bars did not wear down her edge but honed her sense of music instead.

Her original childlike voice also changed as a result, from its original smoothness to a slightly deeper tone, giving her singing a slight huskiness.

When she sang, she would naturally forget everything around her.

So when she really began to sing, she had forgotten all about becoming famous, earning money, and getting revenge on Lu Hao; she was singing from her heart.

A decade of being childhood sweethearts, only to be betrayed, that pain was all in her song.

The girl without makeup, standing in front of the microphone, sang softly. Without rage, she sung of anger, without tears, she stirred sympathy in the listener.

The song ended.

Xu Wen’s eyes were involuntarily moist.

She had a feeling—this girl had a story.

Her story was in the music, in her song.

”I think you must have your reasons for wanting to become famous and make money!” Xu Wen took a breath, her tone already changed a lot, ”But I still want to remind you, never betray your true heart!”

Then, she raised her placard on which ”Passed” was written in dazzling red.

The same was true for the other two judges, who also raised their ”Passed” placards.

According to the rules of Huaxia Idol, as long as a contestant gets two ”Passed” placards from the three judges, they can move on to the next round. Luo Xiaoqian got three, passing the audition with ease.

”Thank you!”

Only at this moment, did Luo Xiaoqian come back from the reminisces of the past, and bowed to the three judges. She turned and left the room.

Outside the door, Xu Xia saw her come out and immediately came up to her, ”How was it? How did it go?!”
