Medical Sage

Jack the Blade was revered as one of the top three figures in the global Assassin World. He possessed the fearsome reputation of a legendary killer, and the murderous intent radiating from his body—honed by countless kills—was so potent it was almost tangible.

Ordinary people would likely faint just from sensing it, let alone being completely locked in its center as Chen Fei was. To be submerged and relentlessly washed over by it… the experience was undoubtedly horrifying.

Even Chen Fei couldn’t stop his eyelids from twitching, but he couldn’t afford to care. In the next moment, the silver gleam lurking in the darkness struck again, making his scalp tingle.

”Condense!”

However, since he had made this choice himself, he certainly couldn’t back down now. So, as the fearsome assassin Jack the Blade attacked once more, he forced himself to suppress the trembling and palpitations in his heart.

With a defiant, low growl, he extended his palm. Instantly, the stream of fire in the air converged into his hand like a shower of stardust, letting out a low, scorching roar. It abruptly solidified into the form of a Yanf Sword.

Wielding his silver blade, Jack the Blade emerged from the shadows, aiming for Chen Fei’s neck. The feeling was like being targeted by an emotionless Grim Reaper, and the shock that rocked his heart was indescribable. However, the attack was blocked.

CLANG!

Chen Fei shifted his body to the side. With the searing, blazing Yanf Sword in his hand, he pressed down fiercely, colliding directly with the silver flash that came from the darkness, producing a deafening clang.

Jack the Blade’s murky old eyes narrowed slightly. He was surprised Chen Fei could block his strike. The coldness on his aged face grew even more merciless. Wrapped in an exceedingly dense killing aura, the silver blade in his hand became a blur that slashed and stabbed three times in the space of a single breath.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

Yet, this time, Chen Fei intercepted the blows even more smoothly. He seemed to grow excited, his strength and expression brimming with newfound energy. His muscles tensed as he slashed with the scorching Yanf Sword, launching his first-ever counterattack.

”Perhaps you aren’t as strong as I imagined, not so difficult to deal with,” Chen Fei said, a thrill in his voice. A corner of his mouth curled into a smile. Under this insane pressure, he could feel his own power and techniques growing at an astonishing rate.

This was clearly an exhilarating development, and it certainly took Jack the Blade by surprise.

This lad…

In Jack the Blade’s eyes, Chen Fei’s importance had just doubled, then tripled. Even he had never expected his opponent to be able to improve, step-by-step, in the middle of their fight. It was an extremely terrifying state to be in, a sign of unbelievable talent.

He must die, or he will be a disaster in the making.

At this thought, the murderous intent in Jack the Blade’s eyes intensified, erupting with uncontrollable ferocity. He couldn’t imagine what kind of monster this young man would become if given a few more years. By then, the outcome would be unthinkable. Even he, Jack the Blade, hailed as a legendary, world-class assassin, refused to leave such a dangerous threat to fester.

HUM!

With this thought, an overwhelming murderous intent exploded in his eyes. He hesitated no longer. With a stomp of his foot, he vanished into the darkness like a specter. A chill ran down Chen Fei’s spine, and his scalp prickled with dread.

What kind of ability is this?

Watching Jack the Blade’s eerie disappearance, even Chen Fei couldn’t help the cold sweat beading on his forehead. His expression darkened. This ability was too bizarre and terrifying, like the deadliest viper lurking in the shadows, ready to deliver a fatal strike at any moment.

SIZZLE!

Just then, his acute senses detected a faint disturbance behind him. Without a flicker of hesitation, he thrust the Yanf Sword backward. In a situation like this, any delay was foolishness—it was a death wish.

The scorching, blazing Yanf Sword shot out, projecting startling heat into the area. In the next breath, it illuminated the faint shadow of a silver blade.

He actually discovered me?

Jack the Blade’s expression shifted slightly, shocked that Chen Fei could sense his movement. Nevertheless, his stabbing motion didn’t slow or pause in the slightest. In that instant, the silver blade struck like a death god’s scythe, unleashing a terrifying burst of power.

CLANG!

BOOM! RUMBLE…

The collision between Jack the Blade’s silver weapon and Chen Fei’s Yanf Sword was like a blazing meteorite slamming into the earth. An incredibly viscous killing aura, as dense as could be, erupted like a spray of blood-red blossoms. It pulled the scorching heatwaves and sharp Sword Qi along with it, creating a ripple-like shockwave. Even the ground beneath their feet trembled and caved in, shattering the stone in a terrifying display.

This time, Chen Fei was thrown back several meters by the colossal shockwave. He spat out a mouthful of blood.

However, in the next instant, he shot forward again like a bolt of lightning, his expression defiant!

”Again!”

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Following a roar that threatened to burst their eardrums, two ghostly figures—one hot, one cold—began flickering across the battlefield. One wielded the Yanf Sword while the other gripped a silver blade, clashing and slashing without restraint in a primal, bloody form of combat.

Before long, the ground was stained with the blood from their many wounds.

”How is this possible!?”

Witnessing this, the assassins of Crimson Fang, including Amotig, turned pale. They stared dumbfoundedly at the young man from the East who was locked in a brutal struggle with their greatest and most legendary King of Assassins, Jack the Blade. They felt a sense of panicked shock so great their hearts threatened to leap from their chests.

What in the world was happening!? How was this Eastern Lad qualified to fight such an intense battle against their greatest and most legendary King of Assassins, Jack the Blade? And from the looks of it, he wasn’t at a disadvantage! This was simply unacceptable!

To think he’s already reached this level… what kind of monster is this kid! Even Yama couldn’t help but sigh in amazement. He truly hadn’t expected Chen Fei to be capable of such a feat. And yet… it still seemed like it wasn’t enough.

BANG! BANG! BANG…

RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE…

In just over ten minutes, the two had exchanged hundreds of blows. From Jack the Blade’s lethal attacks from the shadows to Chen Fei’s wide, sweeping, and utterly ferocious counterattacks, every exchange added another layer of brutal, ruthless bloodshed to the fight.

But in the next moment, a dull, deafening BOOM echoed out. Both figures were thrown backward, their feet scraping long marks into the blood-soaked ground.

By then, their appearances were a far cry from what they had been. Both Chen Fei and the legendary assassin Jack the Blade were in tattered clothes, their bodies and arms covered in wounds of varying depths. Some cuts were so deep they revealed the peeled-back flesh and bone beneath.

Clearly, this was a battle to the death.

However, it seemed Chen Fei was at a slight disadvantage, as his breathing had become extremely heavy. His opponent, on the other hand, appeared to be barely affected.

”No wonder you were confident enough to come here. You do have some skill. But it seems your decision was too hasty and foolish, don’t you think?” Jack the Blade said emotionlessly, glancing at a wound on his own arm. His cold, dreary eyes locked onto Chen Fei as he spoke, his voice trembling slightly with a sinister edge.

Clearly, although he was loath to admit it, the threat Chen Fei posed had become undeniable. It had taken all his concentration just to slowly gain the upper hand in their duel. But how old was this Eastern Lad? Until now, he had only felt such wariness and threat from his own peers, but now…

”Hasty and foolish? Sorry, but I don’t think so. On the contrary, I’m glad I was crazy enough to come here. If I’d missed such an exciting battle, it would have been a real pity, wouldn’t it?” Chen Fei’s entire body was trembling, yet his tone was exceptionally spirited.

Yes, he was glad he had come to Italy on a whim. It wasn’t just for his pride, but also for this blood-pumping battle. At the very least, fighting a so-called legendary assassin had allowed him to improve a great deal.

”Is that so?”

Hearing this, Jack the Blade’s expression grew even more somber and stern. After a short while, a sinister grin spread across his aged face. ”Cough, cough,” he said, his voice trembling. ”I wasn’t planning on using that thing. But now… it seems necessary.”

As his words fell, he shakily retrieved a palm-sized box from his robe and opened the lid. Instantly, a terrifying aura of light burst forth, causing Yama’s expression to change dramatically.

”This—this is the Nuo Deng Family’s Holy Artifact of Light, the Book of Glory! Why do you have it!?” he exclaimed, his eyes fixed on the white pages inside the box in utter disbelief.
