”Brother, what did you just say? Chen... Chen Fei... he beat up Liu Yuanding?”

Before Chen Fei could even explain, Niuniu’s brother, Chen Qun, rushed into the private room. He was clearly worried and annoyed as he scolded Chen Fei. This finally allowed Niuniu to understand what had happened, and her pretty face went pale. She nearly leaped off the sofa.

The name Liu Yuanding was certainly familiar to her; he was the one who had stolen her third-place spot on the civil service exam for the Municipal Landscaping Bureau. More importantly, his uncle was a director at the Municipal Finance Bureau. How could they possibly contend with someone of that stature?

But now, Chen Fei had actually hit him. Even though Niuniu despised the man with every fiber of her being, she couldn’t help but panic.

After all, a scion from a family of high-ranking officials was not someone ordinary people like them could afford to provoke.

Damn it, how could something like this happen out of the blue!?

”Chen... Chen Fei, we should get out of here! If we wait for that guy to come back with more people, we’ll be in big trouble,” Niuniu said, unable to contain her panic. She frantically grabbed her coat and handbag from the sofa.

”Leave? You think you can just leave after hitting my brothers? Pah! Not a chance! You’d all better stay right here, or you’ll face the consequences!” Just then, an angry, arrogant voice echoed from the doorway. It was one of the men Chen Fei had kicked away earlier.

”Face the consequences, is that it?”

BANG!

A cold glint flashed in Chen Fei’s eyes upon hearing the threat. In the next instant, his figure blurred. The man who had spoken felt a heavy impact on his chest, and his entire body was sent flying as if he weighed nothing. Chen Fei had kicked him again.

Hiss… this…

Even Young Master Liu’s underlings, who had already seen this once, couldn’t help but shudder. They gasped, their eyes filled with terror and disbelief as they stared at Chen Fei.

They knew the man he had just kicked weighed well over two hundred pounds, yet he had been tossed aside as if he were made of paper. He was sent flying just like that.

Who the hell is this kid? Is he even fucking human?

If even those who had witnessed his strength before were this shocked, it was nothing compared to Miss Chu Yan and Niuniu, who hadn’t been present for the first encounter. Their eyes nearly popped out of their sockets, and they forgot to cover their gaping mouths, their faces etched with pure astonishment.

Chen... Chen Fei is actually this strong!? That’s just too fierce!

However, Chen Fei couldn’t be bothered with these small fries. His icy gaze swept across their faces as he said flatly, ”Get out.”

At his words, Young Master Liu’s underlings felt a jolt of terror. They scrambled out of the room in a panic, not stopping until they were at least ten meters away.

Once the annoying pests were gone, Chen Fei turned back to Niuniu and the others with a casual smile. ”Don’t be afraid,” he said, grinning. ”They’re just a bunch of scum.”

”You... you big bad guy, I had no idea you were so skilled! Where did you learn to fight like that?” After a long moment of stunned silence, Miss Chu Yan finally found her voice, her cheeks flushing with curiosity. I’ve known this big bad guy for so long, but I never knew he was this formidable. Seriously, that kick just now was incredibly cool!

”It’s an ancestral secret technique. Over twenty years of virginity-powered kung fu! Something a little girl like you can’t hope to match,” Chen Fei replied cheekily.

”Pah! Who’d be envious of that!” Miss Chu Yan blushed slightly and huffed. Then, a worried look crossed her face. ”Hey, big bad guy, is this going to cause a lot of trouble? I heard from Niuniu that the despicable scum has powerful connections. Is he going to...”

”She’s right, Xiaofei,” Niuniu’s brother, Chen Qun, interjected. ”Liu Yuanding’s uncle is a director at the Municipal Finance Bureau. He’s a very powerful man in Tongzhou City, but you just...”

He couldn’t help but worry. Even Brother Wei, a man he greatly respected, was just one of Young Master Liu’s lackeys. That fact alone spoke volumes about Liu Yuanding’s influence. And now, Chen Fei had assaulted a princeling like that. How could he not be terrified?

”Relax, Brother Qun. His uncle is a director at the Finance Bureau, not him,” Chen Fei said with an unconcerned smile.

It was laughable. With his current status and power, did he really need to cower before the nephew of some city-level bureaucrat? They weren’t even in the same league.

Seeing the indifferent expression on Chen Fei’s face, Miss Chu Yan was suddenly reminded of something. Even Young Master Zhang Quan, the son of the powerful Secretary Zhang of the Tongzhou Municipal Political and Legal Affairs Commission, had ended up miserable before him. Not only had he been slapped three times, but he hadn’t dared to utter a peep before scurrying away in defeat. What did that imply?

It meant this big bad guy must have an extraordinary background, one that made even people like Young Master Zhang Quan seem insignificant. His current nonchalance wasn’t arrogance; it was genuine confidence. He truly wasn’t afraid of any retaliation from Liu Yuanding.

The thought calmed Chu Yan’s heart a little. Pouting, she said, ”...Alright, fine. I’m leaving this whole matter in your hands. That, and Niuniu’s civil service exam issue.”

”Don’t worry. As long as Niuniu is genuinely qualified, I’ll take care of it,” Chen Fei nodded with a smile, though his tone held an underlying chill. ”I’d like to see who’s bold enough to treat us common folk like idiots.”

He might have let it go if it was a matter of skill, but he couldn’t stand by and watch a clear case of someone throwing their weight around. Officials were supposed to serve the people, not abuse their positions to falsify records and secure backdoor deals for their friends and family.

”My sister is definitely talented and qualified! Her major is a perfect match for the Landscaping Bureau, and she won many design awards in university,” Chen Qun declared with pride. He wasn’t stupid; he could see that Chen Fei truly didn’t seem to care about Young Master Liu. A glimmer of hope sparked within him. His sister was so outstanding, and he desperately wanted to see her achieve her dream of working for the Municipal Landscaping Bureau.

”That’s right, big bad guy, I can vouch for her! When Niuniu was in college, she had a whole stack of certificates from all sorts of garden design competitions. Her professional skills are amazing,” Chu Yan added emphatically.

Hearing this, even Niuniu, who had all but given up, felt a stir in her heart. She looked at Chen Fei and whispered timidly, ”Chen... Chen Fei, do you really have a way to help me?”

”You can rest a hundred percent assured...” Chen Fei was about to nod with a smile when he was cut off by a loud noise from behind.

BANG!

Someone had kicked the door to the private room open.

A familiar figure stormed in, his face a mask of savagery. His gaze swept fiercely across the room before landing on Chen Fei. He pointed a trembling, menacing finger and roared, ”That’s him! That’s the son of a bitch who dared to hit me! Aquan, what are you standing around for? Get your men in here and arrest him!”

A knot of dread tightened in the chests of Niuniu and Chen Qun.

Trouble had arrived.

The moment Young Master Liu’s roar faded, a police officer with a two-bar, two-star insignia on his shoulder—a Second-Class Superintendent—stepped impassively into the room. Followed by seven or eight officers, he approached Chen Fei and stated coldly, ”Sir, this gentleman, Young Master Liu Yuanding, has reported you for public assault inside Caesar Splendor KTV. Please come with us.”

He then gestured to one of his subordinates and added dismissively, ”Cuff him and bring him back to the station for questioning.”

”Hmph! Son of a bitch,” Young Master Liu sneered, finally looking like he’d gotten his revenge. ”Now that you’re in my hands, we’ll see just how I’m going to deal with you.”

”Are you just going to take his word for it? Is that how this works?” Chen Fei asked, a corner of his mouth twitching in disdain as he looked the superintendent straight in the eye.

”Sir, I must ask you to cooperate with our investigation! We will certainly determine right from wrong. Cuff him!” the superintendent snapped. His cold gaze swept over Chen Fei, and a mocking, derisive glint appeared in his eyes, though his tone remained official. This kind of nobody dares to challenge Young Master Liu? Has his head been kicked by a donkey?

”Alright, then.” Chen Fei shrugged, a chill passing through his dark, crystal-clear eyes. His tone became light. ”But first, could you tell me which bureau you’re from?”

”What are you implying? Are you planning to resist arrest?” the superintendent’s brow furrowed, his voice hardening.

”Aquan, why are you wasting so much time talking to him? Just drag him back to the station! Then we’ll see how arrogant he can be!” Liu Yuanding spat impatiently.

”Rest assured, I’m a law-abiding citizen. I wouldn’t be foolish enough to resist arrest; there’s no need. You, on the other hand...” Chen Fei suddenly broke into a grin. ”I’d advise you to watch yourself and answer my question. It wouldn’t be a wise decision to blindly walk into trouble you know nothing about.”

The content of his words caused the expression on everyone’s face to shift.

This kid... what does he mean by that!?
