Inside a KFC at Tongzhou City Airport in Jiangnan Province, Chen Fei and Miss Chu Yan were sitting in a corner, feasting.

”Hey, you ask me to treat you to something, and this is what you choose?” Chen Fei casually picked up a New Orleans grilled chicken wing and began gnawing on it. He gave a somewhat bemused look to Chu Yan, who was also eating heartily, her mouth slick with grease and sauce.

After all, isn’t this kind of high-calorie ’junk food’ usually despised by beauty-conscious women? He had thought that this young lady, upset and betrayed by a friend, would surely make him pay through the nose for a meal. Who knew it would be this...

”What? You don’t like it? If you don’t like it, then put it down and give it to me!” Hearing this, Chu Yan sniffled, pretending to be very displeased, and actually reached out to snatch the ’feast’ in front of Chen Fei.

”Hey, that’s mine! Stop! Are you part dog? Did you hear me? Stop it! I’m not full yet!”

This was too much. Chen Fei’s expression changed instantly. He fiercely guarded the meal before him, proclaiming his ownership. This is no joke. If this girl snatches it away, what will I eat? No way, absolutely not!

”Hmph, cheapskate! You have the nerve to fight a girl over food? Are you even a man?” After ’struggling’ for a moment, Chu Yan managed to snatch only two or three fries from Chen Fei’s iron-clad defense. She huffed unhappily, her face a mask of contempt.

”A girl? Besides your appearance, in what way are you like a girl? Hey, even though we’re in a corner, could you please pay a little attention to your image? Put your shoes back on. Don’t you see the strange looks people are giving us? They’re all looking down on you!” Chen Fei said irritably, gesturing at Chu Yan’s smooth, stocking-clad feet, which she had kicked out of her high heels. He covered his head, as if embarrassed.

”Pfft! I am graced with natural beauty. Those men are definitely stealing glances at me. What nonsense are you talking about?” Unhappy again, Chu Yan sniffled and huffed.

However, she still put her high heels back on. Then, she licked a trace of grease from the edge of her soft lips with a hint of longing. Her cheeks flushed slightly as her voice suddenly dropped to a whisper, ”Hey, you big jerk, I’m not full yet. Go buy me some more. I want fries, and chicken wings...”

”Still eating? Are you sure you’re not part pig instead of part dog? Is that why you’ve gotten so fat recently?” Chen Fei muttered.

”I have not! You’re the one who’s gotten fat! Your whole family is fat! You’re a big fatty!”

Hearing such a sensitive topic, Chu Yan couldn’t hold back any longer. She flared up, puffing out her chest—which was not massive, but perfectly proportioned—and demanded with a ’ferocious’ expression, ”I’m 171 cm tall and weigh only 51 kg! Where am I fat? You tell me, where?”

”Okay, okay... not fat, not fat at all. But, do you really want to eat more?” Chen Fei immediately surrendered, admitting his mistake before asking for confirmation one last time.

”Of course I... Ugh, forget it. No more. If I eat any more, I’ll really get fat again. I don’t want to go on a diet again, it’s so hard.” Chu Yan reflexively started to nod, but then a look of struggle and frustration appeared in her beautiful eyes. She viciously stirred her drink with her straw, ultimately giving up with a sigh of dejection.

She knew Chen Fei was joking when he called her fat, but she had indeed gained a little weight recently—three or four pounds. For a man, even double that amount might be insignificant, but for a girl, it was a huge deal. For a girl’s weight, even a one-pound difference was a world of difference. It could be very depressing.

”You’re not eating anymore? Then I’ll go buy some more. I’m not quite full yet,” Chen Fei suddenly said with a mischievous grin, which instantly made Chu Yan bristle.

”You big jerk, how dare you bully me! I’ll bite you to death, you big baddie! I’ll bite you, boo hoo...” At once, Chu Yan revealed her true fiery nature and started making a scene. She grabbed one of Chen Fei’s hands and bit down.

”Hey, I was just kidding! Are you for real? Let go! Did you hear me, you little dog! Let go!” Young Master Chen was in a tragic state once again, crying out while putting on a pitiful expression. Is this girl really part dog? Why does she love to bite people at the drop of a hat?

”Hmph! Just kidding? That’s even more reason not to let you off! How dare you bully me like that, you jerk!” Hearing this, however, only made Chu Yan angrier. How dare he say he was just kidding? Couldn’t you have just gone and bought more so I could sneak a few bites? He’s so hateful, so detestable!

After they had been playing around like this for a while, most of the people in the KFC were casting strange glances their way. Only then did a blushing Chu Yan finally stop. Looking like a victorious female general, she held her head high and looked at the ’pitiful’ Chen Fei, saying smugly, ”Serves you right for daring to bully me!”

”So fierce. We’ll see who dares to marry you in the future. Such a tomboy,” Chen Fei muttered under his breath.

”What did you say!?” Chu Yan’s eyebrows shot up.

”Nothing, nothing! I said I deserved it, I deserved it...” Chen Fei shook his head vigorously and said with a placating smile.

”Hmph! That’s more like it. If you dare to bully me again, don’t blame me for biting you again!” Chu Yan nodded in satisfaction, adding one last little threat.

But as soon as she finished speaking, a blush crept onto her face, and she looked away shyly, whispering, ”Hey, you big jerk... thank you for today. If you hadn’t been there, I don’t know what I would have done.”

”It’s fine, don’t mention it. Do you really think I went through all that trouble just to hear you say ’thank you’?” Chen Fei shook his head, speaking casually.

”That’s a separate matter. In any case, I have to thank you. And about the money, don’t worry. If Aqin doesn’t pay you back, I’ll definitely get it together as soon as I can and bring it to you,” Chu Yan said earnestly.

”You’re not the one who owes me, so what’s it got to do with you? Besides, you heard me earlier. I’m not short on cash right now, so don’t be such a stranger,” Chen Fei stated his position clearly when Chu Yan brought it up.

It was only six hundred thousand. To him now, that amount was nothing. Besides, from the moment he had taken the money out, he never expected to get it back. Expecting repayment from a gambling addict who betrayed her friends was, while possible, highly unrealistic most of the time. If it hadn’t been for Chu Yan, he wouldn’t have bothered with such a mess.

”No, that won’t do. You’ve already helped me so much. I can’t let you spend your own money on top of that. What kind of person would that make me? I will pay it back,” Chu Yan insisted firmly. Though she could be capricious and careless at times, she possessed a strong moral compass and personal integrity.

”Alright, then. We can talk about it later.” Hearing her firm tone, Chen Fei hesitated for a moment but ultimately didn’t press the issue.

He understood this was a matter of principle and character. Pushing too hard would be counterproductive and unnecessary. With that thought, he decided not to dwell on the topic. His eyes, dark and clear as glass, rested on Chu Yan as he suddenly asked, ”So, are you feeling any better now?”

”Much better. It wasn’t a huge deal anyway. After all, Aqin is my friend,” Chu Yan said, pausing for a second before a smile touched her lips. She smoothed a strand of hair that had escaped from under the brim of her uniform cap, her voice gentle.

Yes, at the end of the day, she’s still my friend. I can’t just stand by and watch her suffer, can I?

Watching this subconscious, feminine gesture, Chen Fei felt his gaze waver, and he looked away as his ears grew warm. His heart inexplicably began to beat faster.

There’s no helping it. Even though I keep calling her a tomboy... the truth is, this girl possesses every quality a woman should have, and she’s at least a ninety out of a hundred at that. Her curvaceous body, wrapped in a flight attendant uniform, is brimming with vibrant, youthful beauty. Her long, jade-like legs and delicate feet are made even more attractive by her high heels. Her fair skin is as smooth as warm jade, and her exquisite face practically glows...

When she so suddenly acted in such a womanly way, it caught Chen Fei completely off guard, sending an undeniable ripple through his heart.

RING, RING, RING...

Just as Chen Fei’s mind was starting to wander, a cell phone began to ring from inside the small handbag Chu Yan was holding.

”Who could be calling at this hour? Don’t they know I’m at work?” Chu Yan muttered to herself as she grabbed her bag, unzipped it, and pulled out the latest Apple 8s. But when she saw the caller ID, she froze for a second. ”Niuniu?” She immediately pressed the answer key on the screen.

”Hello, Little Yan, where are you? Come drink with me, I feel awful! Hurry up and come keep me company, boo hoo hoo...” Before Chu Yan could even get a word out, she was stunned by a string of sobbing sounds coming from the phone.

”Hey, Niuniu, what’s wrong? Why are you crying? Where are you right now? I’ll come find you right away, just stop crying!” Chu Yan shouted into the phone.
