Medical Sage

”I wouldn’t dare call myself an expert, but I do indeed work at the Harmony Hospital of Capital City right now.”

As exclamations of surprise emanated from the crowd, and their eyes filled with growing admiration, the arrogant middle-aged man, Lvv Mingyuan, raised his head and smiled as if he were someone of great importance. Then, he furrowed his brow and swept his gaze toward Chen Fei, looking down on him as he said coldly, ”Now you know who I am? You think you understand medicine better than I do?”

Just then, several police officers pushed through the crowd with hurried expressions. Lvv Mingyuan immediately shouted at them, ”Officers, take this kid away! I am Lvv Mingyuan from the Harmony Hospital of Capital City. The patient’s condition is critical, and even I am not confident about intervening, let alone a greenhorn like him. Don’t let him cause trouble here!”

”You can’t save her because your medical skills are abysmal. Get out of my way!” At that moment, however, Chen Fei was in no mood to waste words on him. With a grim expression, he simply shoved the man aside.

”You—you dared to push me? Do you have any idea who I am? Officers, did you see that? This kid is unbearably arrogant, completely unreasonable! What are you waiting for? Take him away!” Lvv Mingyuan staggered, his face twisting with rage.

”Young man, why don’t you step aside and rest? We know you mean well, but this is Doctor Lvv, an expert from the Harmony Hospital of Capital City... You should listen to him. Don’t end up harming this poor woman,” the previously kind-hearted woman said hesitantly as the crowd began to murmur.

Clearly, although she believed Chen Fei had good intentions, the ’expert’ from the Harmony Hospital of Capital City seemed far more persuasive in her eyes. It only made sense to listen to an expert from such a prominent hospital.

Instantly, many others in the crowd began to buzz with agreement, the vast majority echoing the kind-hearted woman’s sentiment and siding with the so-called expert, Lvv Mingyuan. After all, he was an important figure from the Harmony Hospital of Capital City; his credibility was naturally stronger than that of an inexperienced young man like Chen Fei.

”Sir, please don’t cause a disturbance here...” Seeing this, the police naturally chose to go with the flow. Two or three officers immediately approached Chen Fei, attempting to lead him aside to rest.

”Wait!”

Just then, one of the policemen, who clearly appeared to be the leader, caught sight of Chen Fei’s unfamiliar yet incredibly familiar face. His expression changed dramatically as he quickly stopped his subordinates, stammering, ”You… you’re Mr. Chen!?”

”You know me?” Chen Fei’s expression was dark, but he was still taken aback by the question.

”I was with Director Zhu once and had the honor of seeing you… Hah— what happened to you? Are you alright?” The police leader had once worked under Zhu Qianye and had seen Chen Fei before. He knew very well that this was a man whom even their director had to treat with the utmost care, so how could he be negligent?

When his eyes fell on the terrifying wound on Chen Fei’s neck, his expression froze, and he began to stammer in alarm.

A dignitary of this stature was hurt on my watch. If they investigate, how could I possibly escape responsibility?

Relieved to be recognized, Chen Fei said immediately, ”I’m fine. Get everyone to disperse. Don’t let them crowd around. I have to give her emergency treatment right now, or the consequences will be unimaginable.” He had no time to get tangled up with that arrogant fool; he had to treat the woman immediately.

”Yes… What are you all crowding around for? Disperse, all of you, disperse! What are you standing there for? Hurry up and move the crowd back!” The police leader nodded at once and ordered his subordinates to clear the area.

”Hey! Officers, what are you doing? That kid is an intern at best. What right does he have to treat someone? If something goes wrong, who will vouch for him? Who will take responsibility?”

When Lvv Mingyuan from the Harmony Hospital of Capital City saw the police dispersing the crowd instead of driving Chen Fei away as he had demanded, his expression grew grim. He felt humiliated that these local police officers were ignoring his words. It was simply preposterous.

”Sir, if you continue to cause a scene, don’t blame us for taking necessary measures!” Hearing the man from the capital daring to question Mr. Chen, the police leader’s expression hardened. He produced a pair of handcuffs and spoke coldly.

What a joke. How could just anyone question a man of Mr. Chen’s status?

”You—you’re abusing your power! You’re being irresponsible with a citizen’s life!” Lvv Mingyuan’s face paled, and he grew even more furious.

”Irresponsible?”

Just then, an authoritative, elderly voice grew louder as it approached from a distance. ”Doctor Chen is the best doctor in Northern Mountain City! If he says emergency treatment is needed, then it is absolutely needed!”

”Bullshit! On what grounds do you say that? Don’t tell me the medical skills of a young punk like him are superior to mine, Lvv Mingyuan’s?” Upon hearing this, Lvv Mingyuan reflexively spat a curse. Pah! What nonsense. The best doctor in Northern Mountain City? Who does he think he is?

”On the grounds that I am Du Yuansheng! Is that qualification enough for you?” a white-haired elder said coldly as he pushed through the crowd. It was Elder Du.

”Du Yuan… Gasp, isn’t that Elder Du from the Affiliated Institute of Traditional Medicine? They say he’s the most incredible traditional medicine practitioner in all of Northern Mountain. Even national leaders have come to him for treatment. He’s here in person?”

”That’s right, it’s Elder Du! I went to the Affiliated Institute of Traditional Medicine for treatment once, and Elder Du personally saw to me.”

”Gasp! Elder Du said that young man is the best doctor in Northern Mountain City. Could it be that even he admits defeat?”

...

The crowd erupted into a frenzy. Elder Du was one of Northern Mountain City’s signature figures, the top doctor at the Affiliated Institute of Traditional Medicine. Even many national leaders had personally made the trip to Northern Mountain to seek his medical advice. A prominent figure like him naturally had far more clout than the so-called expert, Lvv Mingyuan. They weren’t even on the same level.

”As for you!”

At that moment, Elder Du’s gaze fell on the stupefied Lvv Mingyuan. ”Your medical skills, I’m afraid, don’t even amount to one-ten-thousandth of Doctor Chen’s. Step aside.” With that, he pushed the man aside and walked toward Chen Fei, who was still crouched on the ground.

”You, you, you…”

Staggering from the push, Lvv Mingyuan’s face alternated between green and purple, but ultimately, he didn’t dare act rashly in front of an imposing figure like Elder Du. He recognized the elder; even his own teacher, a renowned master of traditional Chinese medicine in the Capital City, would defer to Elder Du as a junior. Naturally, Lvv Mingyuan had even less right or courage to be presumptuous in his presence. Squeezing through the crowd, he skulked away in disgrace.

Seeing Elder Du arrive, Chen Fei asked, taken aback, ”Elder Du, what are you doing here?”

”I was about to head to Tongzhou City on business when I ran into the shooting. Mr. Chen, are you alright? And this patient…” Elder Du explained briefly, his expression grave. With his medical expertise, a single glance was all it took to see how dire the situation was for the woman lying in a pool of blood.

”I’m fine, but she needs emergency treatment immediately.” Chen Fei shook his head and took out a Silver Needle he carried with him. His eyes flashed, and after taking a deep breath, a faint crimson glow appeared on the needle, making it exceptionally striking.

”This is…” Elder Du’s eyes narrowed slightly, for he had never seen such a technique before.

”It’s a method of an Ancient Martial Artist. The bullet in this woman is unusual. She was caught up in this because of me,” Chen Fei explained briefly before his hand moved like lightning. With incredible speed, he inserted seven or eight Silver Needles into various acupoints on the woman’s body.

Such a formidable needling technique. Seeing Chen Fei’s fingers gently flick and twist the tips of the needles, even a grandmaster of traditional Chinese medicine like Elder Du couldn’t help but gasp in shock.

Not only had Elder Du never seen or even heard of such a technique, but its effects were also astonishingly potent. It was utterly unlike any needling method he knew—truly astounding.

THWIP!

Suddenly, Chen Fei slapped the woman’s shoulder. A black object shot out from the wound and landed in his hand.

But that wasn’t the most shocking part. Elder Du actually saw a faint white light arc from the edge of the black object. It hit the ground with a series of sharp CRACKLES, causing a small explosion on the stone pavement.

A superpower? Elder Du’s expression changed. He was aware that such things existed. But then, his expression shifted again as he suddenly recalled something Chen Fei had said earlier.

This woman got involved because of him…

Could it be that someone is trying to kill Doctor Chen?

”Hah!”

At that moment, Chen Fei had no time to notice the changes in Elder Du’s expression. He took another deep breath, circulated the Spiritual Energy in his body to his palm, and shouted forcefully as he applied the last of nine needles in succession. Instantly, the woman’s entire body seemed to tremble.

”...Cough, cough, cough.” The next moment, a weak cough broke the silence. The woman lying in the pool of blood actually awoke, her eyes slowly fluttering open.

At that moment, nearly everyone present gasped, their faces frozen in shock and utter disbelief. They were completely dumbfounded.

They truly hadn’t expected a young man like Chen Fei to possess such incredible medical skills. With just a few needles, the patient—the woman—had actually regained consciousness. A Divine Doctor! It was simply inconceivable.

Seeing the woman awake, Chen Fei finally let out a sigh of relief. ”Ma’am, are you okay? How are you feeling? It’s alright, speak slowly…”

As long as she woke up, it meant there were no major issues left. Besides, the bullet hadn’t hit any vital organs.
