”Damn it!”

The color in Chen Fei’s jet-black eyes, as clear as polished obsidian, instantly turned grim, swirling with a profound chill. He truly hadn’t anticipated a sneak attack, which had left him unguarded and caught completely by surprise. Most importantly, this was the second time. The first had left a thick, puckered scar on his neck; this second one had just carved a bone-deep mark into his shoulder, from which blood now gushed.

”An Easterner? Who are you?”

At that moment, an ice-cold voice, devoid of any emotion, rang out from nearby. Chen Fei quietly lifted his head, his cold eyes turning towards the speaker. It was a man in his sixties or seventies, with pale skin and curly hair the color of golden straw. However, like Old Brad and most others in the Brad Family Castle, his eyes were a deep crimson, making him resemble a monster steeped in the stench of blood.

”A vampire?” Chen Fei murmured, his obsidian eyes studying the man, a slight smirk suddenly playing on his lips.

At his words, the pale-skinned, curly-haired old man’s murky eyes narrowed, and a hint of sinister viciousness surfaced. ”Perhaps you should address us as the great Blood Clan,” he said, his voice cold, ”and not speak words that will invite disaster.”

”Is that so?” Chen Fei’s lips thinned into a dismissive line, his gaze suddenly flashing with ruthlessness. ”Whether my words invite disaster, I don’t know. But I think you should be more worried about yourself.”

Just as the pale-skinned, curly-haired old man let out a dismissive laugh, Chen Fei had already transformed into a crimson bolt of lightning, charging straight for him. As he moved, his right hand curled into a claw, wisps of pale red energy wrapping around his fingers as he tore viciously through the air.

”Xingyi Fist Eagle Form, Ripping Gold Claw!”

This claw strike seemed powerful enough to pierce metal and stone, carrying with it a scorching wave of heat that made the old man’s expression change drastically. The disdain on his face was instantly replaced by shock and utter disbelief.

After all, as a great member of the Blood Clan who had attained the rank of Duke, one of his proudest abilities was his keen sense of smell and perception. Yet, from this single claw strike from the young Easterner, he smelled a dangerous aura that made his skin crawl. How could he not be shocked? How could he not find it unbelievable?

”You… who in the hell are you?” he blurted out in a frantic panic.

”Can’t you tell where I’m from? Fine, I’ll tell you,” Chen Fei said coldly in perfect English, already appearing directly in front of the man. ”I come from Huaxia!”

His claws spread wide, he struck with immense force, tearing downwards like a hawk plunging for its prey, aiming directly for the old man’s shoulder.

BANG!

PFFT!

A muffled, grating sound, like metal striking flesh, erupted.

The pale-skinned, curly-haired old man raised his arm to block, but it trembled violently. His entire body shot backward for tens of meters as if shocked by a powerful electric current. Looking back at the spot where he had just been standing, two or three drops of dark red blood were strikingly conspicuous on the ground.

DRIP. DRIP.

Dozens of meters away, the old man stared daggers at Chen Fei before glancing in disbelief at his own left hand. From the tips of his fingers, dark red drops of blood were slowly falling. The sight shook him to the core, and he swallowed hard.

It was common knowledge that one of the greatest strengths of the revered Blood Clan was their physical body, their claws. He was not just any member but a great Blood Clan Duke, an existence equivalent to an Innate-level Ancient Martial Artist from the Eastern World. Yet even so, he had failed to block a single claw strike. What did that mean? Despite his status and age, his expression changed once again. His gaze, now fixed on Chen Fei, was filled with a stern coldness and… a deep wariness.

”Who exactly are you? Have you Easterners forgotten the non-aggression pact our Western and Eastern Worlds established?” he asked slowly, his eyes locked on Chen Fei as he brought up the treaty made long ago by the world’s most powerful figures.

”A pact? There’s such a thing?” Chen Fei murmured with a hint of surprise, but a cold sneer quickly formed on his lips. ”So what if there is? Does it mean you rats are allowed to run to our Huaxia to kill and cause trouble, but I’m not allowed to seek revenge? There’s no such logic in this world.”

”We went to Huaxia to kill and cause trouble!?” The old man was stunned for a moment, then frowned. ”What are you talking about? I don’t understand what you mean.”

”You don’t understand? Are you trying to say I’m being unreasonable? Fine. Why don’t you take a look at this? Tell me if this is reason enough for me to be here.” Chen Fei’s lips curled dismissively, but his tone suddenly turned fierce as he yanked open his collar, revealing the scarred bullet wound on his neck.

”That’s…”

Seeing the thick scar, the pale-skinned old man’s pupils shrank. His expression turned ugly as he said in a grim voice, ”...Sir, perhaps this is a misunderstanding. Our organization has never accepted any assignments related to that nation in the East!”

”And yet, someone did, didn’t they? If I recall, his name was something like the Child of Light. I haven’t come to the wrong place, have I?” Chen Fei said coldly. The name he uttered made the old man’s expression change abruptly.

Damn it! He did it? The old man couldn’t help but feel a surge of anger. He couldn’t believe the Child of Light would violate the organization’s rules to take a private job—and a job to assassinate someone in that Eastern nation no less. Isn’t he just asking for trouble for the organization?

”Sir, I apologize. This may have been an error on our organization’s part. We can offer you sincere compensation…” Since the incident had already occurred, it had to be resolved. He adopted a conciliatory tone as he looked at Chen Fei.

”You think I crossed half of the Eurasian continent just to listen to you talk about compensation?” Chen Fei cut him off, a menacing aura emanating from his eyes.

”Then what do you want, sir?” Hearing this, the old man straightened his back, his voice turning ominous. ”I admit you might be stronger than me, but don’t forget, we of the Crimson Fang are not just me alone. Are you trying to start a war with us?”

Indeed, they were the Crimson Fang. Including himself, they had four ace-level assassins, making them one of the most formidable dark forces on Earth. For Chen Fei to come alone to their headquarters and stir up trouble was provocation enough, even if they were in the wrong first. Was that not enough?

Does this kid really think the Crimson Fang is an easy target? If he truly thought so, he was gravely mistaken!

But what he heard next was something he found hard to believe. Chen Fei said indifferently, ”Why else would I travel thousands of miles to this foreign land? For the scenery?”

”You!” The old man’s face changed again, his expression growing increasingly grim. ”Sir, some things shouldn’t be taken too far. Otherwise, the ending might not be pleasant for anyone.”

”Is that so? You seem quite confident… In that case, shall we test that confidence?”

ROAR!

A clear, resonant howl echoed like a clarion call to slaughter. Chen Fei transformed into a crimson streak of light. As if a mysterious power within him had awakened, he extended a hand that pulsed with a milky radiance invisible to the naked eye. A stream of mystical energy shot out, taking the form of a hissing serpent.

”Oh, no! What the hell is this thing?” Seeing this, a shiver ran down the old man’s spine. A guttural, beast-like roar escaped his lips as his face began to distort. His skin turned deathly pale, and sharp fangs grew from his mouth.

”DIE!” he shrieked hoarsely. A nauseating, bloody aura coalesced around his hand, forming a claw that tore viciously towards Chen Fei’s Heavenly Spirit Cap.

Chen Fei, however, remained expressionless, a faint hint of disdainful mockery visible on his lips. The next moment, he threw a punch. The force was as overwhelming as the bursting banks of the Yellow River, instantly shattering the thick, bloody aura before smashing heavily into the old man’s body.

However, the punch felt as if it had struck empty air or a wad of cotton. The clothes the old man wore went limp, and a chorus of shrill squeaks erupted from within as a swarm of bats burst forth, flapping their wings and scattering at incredible speed.

”You’ll regret this, boy! The Crimson Fang isn’t so easily provoked!” The old man’s sinister voice echoed from the departing swarm. Realizing the gap in their strength, he had abandoned all thought of fighting and was attempting to flee and call for reinforcements.

”Did you really think I couldn’t see through your little trick?” Chen Fei showed no surprise. Instead, a mocking sneer spread across his face.

”AH! What is thi—”

A piercing scream ripped through the air. The swarm of bats was suddenly engulfed by the milky-white glow that Chen Fei had prepared in advance, completely and utterly consumed.

In terms of raw power, the milky Spiritual Energy of the ”Scripture of Meditation” might not have been a match for the Sword Qi of Sanyang True Fire, but against an utterly unprepared opponent, it was more than enough. After all, even Chen Fei had fallen for such sneak attacks twice. His opponent was just an ordinary Duke, hardly a top-tier powerhouse.
