Miss Chu Yan snapped back to reality, realizing what her dear friend and colleague was worried about. After all, a good job like this was hard to come by. It was prestigious and well-paid. Even she had paid a steep price and pulled some strings to get hired. Losing it for no reason just wasn’t worth it.

Aqin really did it this time... Gambling of all things. And on top of that, racking up so much debt with loan sharks. These guys are the type to swallow you whole and not even spit out the bones... At that thought, Miss Chu Yan couldn’t help but silently curse her good friend, Wang Qin.

What was she thinking, getting mixed up in gambling? She not only lost all her salary and savings, but she’s also in debt for hundreds of thousands to loan sharks. I even had a hard time scraping together some money for her, and instead of paying off her debt, she gambled it away and ended up losing even more. Now she wants to run and hide, but they got wind of it and cornered her at the airport. This is just... ugh.

Still, she couldn’t bear to watch her friend fall into the wolves’ den. Plucking up her courage, she stepped up to the tattooed man in the suit. ”Brother Dao, is it? The money... could you give us a few more days? Aqin will definitely find a way to pay you back.”

”A few more days?” Brother Dao’s face darkened. ”Are you fucking stupid from being a flight attendant?” he sneered. ”Do you think we’re the Red Cross, just throwing money around for fun? This little bitch was about to run off with our money, and you’re asking for an extension? An extension, my ass!” As he spoke, he glared viciously at Wang Qin, the woman in the tank top, his eyes pinning her in place to keep her from escaping.

”No, Brother Dao, you’ve got it all wrong! I wasn’t going to run, I really wasn’t...” Wang Qin shivered, her face turning pale. Still, she forced an obsequious smile and bowed repeatedly.

”Fuck off! Who gives a shit what you think!” Brother Dao cut her off brusquely and continued, ”I’m telling you, 600,000. Today. Right now. Otherwise, you little bitch are going to have some fun with me and my boys tonight. *After that*, we can talk about an extension!” As he spoke, he flashed a lewd smile and reached a hand toward Wang Qin’s ample chest.

”Stop! What are you doing!” Miss Chu Yan paled and screamed.

”What the fuck are you yelling for?” Brother Dao’s expression darkened again. ”Are you trying to welsh on the debt? Fine. Go get your boss. The IOU is right here, written in black and white. Let’s see what they have to say.”

”No, please, Brother Dao, don’t! Please... I’ll get the money right now, I swear! Just give me a little time! Please, give me some time!” Hearing Brother Dao bring this up again, Wang Qin’s face, which had flushed with shame and anger from being groped, instantly turned white with panic. She hastily begged for mercy.

As she spoke, tears welled in her eyes. She turned to Chu Yan with a pitiful plea. ”Little Yan, you have to save me this time! Please! If I can’t pay them back, I’m finished!” A look of terror crossed her face.

”Can’t pay? If you can’t pay, I’ll throw you in a brothel to earn it back! You can fuck off when you’ve made enough money for me!” Brother Dao’s face darkened once more as he spat out fiercely, muttering curses under his breath, ”Motherfucker... You have no money, but you still act all high and mighty borrowing from loan sharks? Did you think we were a fucking charity?”

”Let’s just talk this out calmly...” Hearing Brother Dao’s threat, panic flared on Miss Chu Yan’s face. She knew these loan sharks were capable of anything. Seeing her friend’s pitiful state, she hesitated. Finally, she gritted her teeth, stomped her foot, and said, ”Fine. Aqin, I’ll help you get the money.”

”Really? Little Yan, thank you so much! I’m so grateful! Don’t worry, I promise I’ll pay you back on time every month as soon as I get my salary,” the woman in the tank top exclaimed, her heavily made-up face flushed with excitement.

”You’ll help her get it? Heh, now that’s a loyal friend!” Hearing this, Brother Dao cracked a triumphant grin. ”Alright, then. I’ll give you half an hour. 600,000! You have thirty minutes!”

”What!? Half an hour? Where am I supposed to get that much money in thirty minutes?” Miss Chu Yan exclaimed in shock.

”I don’t care where you get it. Weren’t you the one who wanted to help her?” Brother Dao’s expression soured, and he said with a cold smile that didn’t reach his eyes, ”Let me tell you, I don’t give a damn how you scrape the money together. But if you two can’t come up with it in half an hour, don’t blame us for being rude. This little bitch here will be coming with us, quietly. Heh heh.”

As he spoke, he lecherously reached for Wang Qin’s wrist.

”Ah, no! Brother Dao, please don’t! Little Yan, save me! Please!” Wang Qin screamed, stumbling backward with a pale face, her eyes filled with tears as she begged for help.

”Don’t, Brother Dao! Wait! Please, just let us think of a solution. We’re not rich girls, we’re just ordinary flight attendants. It’s a huge amount of money; we have no idea how to get it so quickly.” When Miss Chu Yan saw him reach for Wang Qin, she panicked. Fearing he would drag her friend away to do something horrible, she gritted her teeth, forced a smile, and quickly stepped forward to plead their case.

”Cut the crap! Half an hour, 600,000! Otherwise, we’ll see who’s sorry! Hmph!” The tattooed man didn’t buy it for a second, snorting coldly.

”Brother Dao, don’t worry, we’ll get the money right now. Right this minute.” Forcing a smile onto her pale face, Wang Qin pulled Chu Yan aside and whispered, ”Little Yan, you have to help me this time. Please! These guys are gangsters. If I can’t pay them, the consequences will be unimaginable.”

”Why did you have to go to an underground casino and borrow from loan sharks?” Chu Yan complained, but her heart softened when she saw her friend’s pale, tear-streaked face. ”But this is 600,000, not 60,000 or even 6,000. Where are we going to get that kind of money?” she said, completely at a loss.

That’s right. It was 600,000. Not 60,000, not 6,000. Even for someone from her relatively well-off family, it was impossible to come up with that much money on such short notice.

”How about... Little Yan, how about you call Zhang Quan? Young Master Zhang?” the tearful Wang Qin suggested hesitantly. ”He’s always had a thing for you, his family is rich, and his father is Secretary Zhang of the Municipal Political and Legal Affairs Committee. If you ask him for a loan, 600,000 is nothing to him! He’ll definitely lend it to you.”

However, as she spoke, a sly, mocking glint flashed in her eyes, and in Brother Dao’s as well. The loan shark even subtly gestured to one of his lackeys, signaling him to notify someone that it was time to make his grand entrance.

”Zhang Quan? No, absolutely not.” Chu Yan didn’t notice these subtle details. She just shook her head in disgust at the mention of his name. ”That guy’s a total scumbag. He’s tricked so many girls from our airline, all while putting on a respectable front. Just looking at him makes me sick. I’m not borrowing money from him. No way.”

”But, Little Yan, this is 600,000!” Wang Qin said, panicking. Her crying grew more intense, her face a mess of tears. ”Besides Young Master Zhang, do you know anyone else who can come up with that much money on the spot? Please, Little Yan. Just swallow your pride this once and help me, please!”

”But...” Chu Yan was still extremely hesitant and conflicted.

She knew that Young Master Zhang Quan was a notorious scumbag in Tongzhou City. He was a rich kid who used his father’s position as a secretary on the political and legal affairs committee to trick countless young, beautiful flight attendants from their airline. A few had even gotten pregnant. But that scumbag would just play with them, toss them aside with a bit of cash, and walk away without a second thought.

Recently, he had set his sights on her, trying all sorts of tricks to get her attention. She, however, wanted nothing to do with such a disgusting person.

But now... this was 600,000. None of her friends could possibly produce that much money at a moment’s notice. If she couldn’t get the money, did that mean she’d have to stand by and watch her best friend get thrown into a pit of fire? Dragged away by these loan sharks?

At that thought, her resolve crumbled. She stamped her foot and said through gritted teeth, ”I... I... all right. Aqin, don’t worry. I’ll make the call.”

”Really!? That’s fantastic! We’re saved! Thank you, Little Yan, thank you so much!” Wang Qin said excitedly. A triumphant glint, visible only for a second, flashed in her eyes. ”With your charm, Young Master Zhang will definitely lend us the money!”

”Well, well, if it isn’t Little Yan and Miss Wang. What are you two doing here?” A hypocritical voice rang out. ”And who are you lot? Why are you cornering my friends? Are you up to no good?”

Just then, a short, stout man dressed in an expensive suit appeared before them. He had his hair slicked back and held his head high, his eyes full of arrogance. His gaze lasciviously devoured Chu Yan’s tall, voluptuous figure, which was accentuated by her flight attendant uniform. He gulped, yet his tone was one of stern, moral righteousness as he spoke.

As if he knew Chu Yan and Wang Qin well.
