”Bringing trouble on yourself? What a load of crap! Who the hell do you think you are? How dare you threaten…” In response to Chen Fei’s obviously provocative and threatening tone, Young Master Liu, Liu Yuanding, couldn’t help but explode with rage, shouting furiously.

Fuck, does he really think he’s something special? What role does he think he plays? So what if he’s a good fighter? This is my turf, Tongzhou City. A complete unknown like you, someone who’s never even shown his face in our circles, thinks you can bluff your way through this? You think you can put on an act and turn the tables?

SLAP! SLAP!

However, once again, before he could even finish his sentence, two crisp slaps were his only reply.

”…You motherfucker! You actually dare to hit me again? Do you have any idea who I am? Do you know who my uncle is? You, you, you… Fuck, Wang Quan, what the hell are you still standing there for? Didn’t you see me get hit right in front of you? Arrest him! Arrest him now!”

Clearly, Young Master Liu truly hadn’t expected Chen Fei to be so outrageously bold as to strike him in front of so many police officers. He clutched his stinging face, his expression turning livid as he bellowed. The muscles on his face contorted with pure, unrestrained anger.

SLAP! SLAP!

To the utter shock of everyone present, that familiar sound rang out once more, and that familiar sensation returned… Ahem. Instantly, the faces of the Two-Bars-Two-Stars officer and the policemen behind him turned extremely ugly. They couldn’t believe Chen Fei would act so brazenly right in front of them.

But because he was so audacious, none of them dared to step forward to apprehend him, let alone put him in handcuffs. After all, the men who had clawed their way into positions at the city’s district police department were no fools. The man’s attitude made it clear he wasn’t afraid of them in the slightest, even daring to assault someone in their presence. What did that imply? It meant this kid definitely had powerful backing!

Otherwise, who would dare to so casually assault the nephew of the deputy director of the City Finance Bureau?

”Damn, this…”

Witnessing the scene, Miss Chu Yan, Niuniu, and her brother Chen Qun couldn’t help but stare wide-eyed, their faces filled with the kind of shock one would have upon seeing a ghost. They gazed at the unfazed Chen Fei. Although they knew Chen Fei probably had powerful backing and wasn’t afraid, wasn’t this a bit too incredible?

”Sir, don’t you think your actions are making things very difficult for us?” At last, the Two-Bars-Two-Stars officer, Wang Quan, seemed to have figured something out. He addressed Chen Fei with a tone that was nowhere near as domineering as before.

This change caused the expression of Young Master Liu, who had just received a few more slaps, to darken drastically. ”Wang Quan, what the fuck do you mean?” he demanded, his face clouding over completely.

This police officer, Wang Quan, was someone he, Young Master Liu, had personally called over. Wang Quan’s failure to immediately take forceful measures to arrest Chen Fei was already a huge loss of face for him. In his eyes, Chen Fei was just an oblivious mutt, whereas he, Liu Yuanding, was a person of status! His uncle was a leader at the City Finance Bureau—the deputy director! And now Wang Quan, who was supposed to be on his side, was spouting such words of weakness. Didn’t you motherfucker see me get hit? I was slapped four times, are you fucking blind? How could this not make Young Master Liu feel utterly humiliated and burst with fury?

”Young Master Liu, please, calm down.”

Hearing Liu Yuanding’s furious questioning, the Two-Bars-Two-Stars officer’s expression also soured. For him to become the deputy captain of the Xicheng District Public Security Bureau’s Public Order Division at such a young age meant he wasn’t without connections himself. But now, being yelled at by Liu Yuanding in front of so many of his subordinates, he naturally felt stifled and annoyed.

Even so, the thought of Liu Yuanding’s identity as the nephew of the Finance Bureau’s deputy director made him forcibly suppress his dissatisfaction. Instead, he turned to Chen Fei and, in a routine manner, presented his credentials. ”Sir, this is my ID,” he said, his face impassive and his voice cold. ”I am Wang Quan, Deputy Captain of the Xicheng District Public Security Bureau’s Public Order Division. Now, will you please come with us?”

”Oh, the Xicheng District Public Security Bureau, huh?” Chen Fei stroked his chin, the name sounding vaguely familiar. Unbothered, he reached a hand into his pocket.

”You motherfucker, still not surrendering? Trying to resist arrest? What are you all standing around for? Didn’t you hear Aquan? Take him away! Fucking take him away!” Seeing Chen Fei reach into his pocket, Young Master Liu panicked and began shouting, his face a mask of rage.

”Surely you’re not this timid, are you? I just want to make a phone call,” Chen Fei said, a faint, mocking smile touching his lips. ”Officer Wang, I can make a call, can’t I? After I’m done, you can beat me or arrest me, whatever you wish. How about it?”

”Make a call? Who the hell do you think you are? Who said you could make a call…” Hearing this, Young Master Liu grew even more anxious, his roars becoming more ferocious.

But just then, the Two-Bars-Two-Stars officer, Wang Quan, simply waved a hand and said, ”Alright. Make your call.” His words instantly made the bellowing Young Master Liu’s expression freeze, his face turning incredibly gloomy.

”Wang, what the hell… what do you mean by this today?” Perhaps due to rage or nervousness, Liu Yuanding’s voice trembled as he questioned the officer.

This time, Officer Wang Quan merely let a flash of anger cross his eyes and didn’t bother to reply.

Seeing this, everyone present—especially the junior officers behind Wang Quan and the anxious Miss Chu Yan and her group behind Chen Fei—felt the atmosphere grow tense and heavy, a profound unease settling over them.

”Thank you.”

Chen Fei’s lips curved into a small smile. He pulled his phone from his pocket and dialed a number.

Since Tongzhou City is Secretary Dong Wencheng’s territory, the person to call is naturally his secretary—Shen Kai. I remember he helped resolve that incident with Murong Shan and Young Master Zhang Quan. All in all, he’s pretty reliable.

「On a congested overpass in Tongzhou City.」

Shen Kai was sitting in a black Audi, flipping through a binder of important notes he had compiled over the last few days. Just then, his personal phone rang.

Who could it be? he muttered to himself, retrieving the phone from his briefcase.

The moment he saw the name on the caller ID, however, his heart skipped a beat, and his expression shifted. The call was from Mr. Chen Fei.

Of course, he knew exactly who Chen Fei was. He especially remembered a time recently when he’d had too much to drink with Secretary Dong, and the Secretary had let slip some information. The details suggested Chen Fei was a monumental figure, someone completely beyond anything Shen Kai could imagine. And now, that person was calling him.

Could it be that he needs my help? Or is he in some kind of trouble?

At this thought, even as Secretary Dong Wencheng’s dedicated secretary, Shen Kai felt cold sweat bead on his forehead. He quickly answered the call. ”Hello, Mr. Chen, this is Shen Kai,” he said respectfully. ”What are your instructions?”

His deferential words startled the driver, who had been cruising along comfortably. Good heavens, what kind of big shot is this?

”Hello, Secretary Shen, it’s Chen Fei. Sorry to trouble you again,” Shen Kai heard Chen Fei’s light chuckle from the phone. ”Do you have any contacts in the Xicheng District Public Security Bureau? I’ve run into a bit of a situation here.”

Hearing those words, a jolt went through Shen Kai. He replied urgently, ”Mr. Chen, has something happened? Do you need me to come over right away?”

”No need for that. You can continue with your own business. Just find someone at the Xicheng District Public Security Bureau who can speak for me and have them call me. That’s all. I’m hanging up now,” Chen Fei said with a smile before ending the call.

Staring at the phone after Chen Fei had hung up, Shen Kai felt no anger at all. Instead, the beads of cold sweat on his forehead grew more numerous. Even the car’s air conditioning couldn’t cool the feverish heat that washed over him.

Xicheng District Public Security Bureau, Xicheng District Public Security Bureau…

He immediately dialed the number of Bi Zhengwei, the director of the Xicheng District Public Security Bureau. Forgetting all formalities, he barked into the phone in an urgent, agitated voice, ”Hello, Old Bi, where are you? I’m giving you a phone number. Call it immediately. And remember, whatever the person on the other end asks you to do, you agree to it without hesitation… Alright, don’t ask what’s going on. Do you remember that Mr. Chen Fei from last time? Yes, it’s him! It seems he’s run into some trouble in your jurisdiction again… Okay, I’m hanging up. Call him now.”

The moment Secretary Shen hung up, Bi Zhengwei, the director of the Tongzhou City Xicheng District Public Security Bureau, was already drenched in sweat. With a panicked expression, he dialed the number he had just received from Secretary Shen at twice his usual speed. It was Mr. Chen’s number.

This was no joke. Of course, he knew who Mr. Chen Fei was. This was a great personage whom even the esteemed Secretary Dong Wencheng had to treat with the utmost respect! Not to mention, given his own position, he had previously received a special communique from that certain department within the organization. Mr. Chen was a big shot from that special department! How could he dare to be negligent?
