Medical Sage

”Elder Du, I’ll have to trouble you with the rest.” After completely reviving the woman, Chen Fei wiped the fine sweat from his forehead and spoke.

”Of course, that’s no problem. But Mr. Chen, you…” Elder Du agreed instantly, but his expression turned grave as he looked at Chen Fei and lowered his voice. From their earlier conversation, he understood that the shooting at the high-speed railway station today was not so simple. Someone had been trying to assassinate Doctor Chen.

”I need to handle my own affairs. After being provoked like this, how can I just sit back and wait for death?” Chen Fei narrowed his eyes, a flicker of lethal intent flashing through his dark, glaze-like pupils.

Clearly, today’s incident had successfully awakened a terrifying emotion within him. When the Grim Reaper I can’t control finally descends, perhaps... that will be very interesting.

”I understand. Leave the patient to me.” Hearing the subtle killing intent in Chen Fei’s voice, Elder Du’s aged body trembled slightly before he nodded.

”Then I’ll leave it to you, Elder Du. Thank you so much.” Chen Fei offered his sincere thanks, then stood up and vanished into the crowd. About half an hour later, an unlicensed military vehicle departed from Northern Mountain, heading toward the secret base of a certain department.

「Several hours later, at the Special Military Base of Jiangnan Province, where the Flying Leopard was stationed.」

The moment Chief Luo Yuanzhi saw Chen Fei, his face contorted with fury. ”You were attacked? What happened?” he demanded urgently.

It was understandable. Chen Fei was the nominal Chief Instructor for their Flying Leopard, the special department of the Three Provinces of Lingnan, and a high-ranking national official. Yet now, he had been targeted for assassination in a public place like the Northern Mountain City High-Speed Railway Station, right within their jurisdiction. How was this any different from someone delivering a vicious slap right across their faces? How could he not be furious?

”It was likely a foreign assassin. Very professional, and it seems he was also an Ability User,” Chen Fei replied slowly, his face filled with wrath.

”A foreign assassin? An Ability User?” Director Wang Dashan was taken aback. ”Chief Instructor, was he very strong?” he asked instinctively. In his eyes, Chen Fei was the ’little monster’ who could even slay Yuann Liegang, an Early Stage Peak of Innate Realm fighter from the Blade Forge of Evil Dragon Pool. But now, he had been covertly targeted. Although he survived and seemed largely unharmed, the fact that it happened at all was immensely shocking. Could it be that the kings of the international Assassin World had come to Huaxia? But why would they specifically target Chief Instructor Chen?

”His strength wasn’t that great; he was at the level of an A+ Ability User at most,” Chen Fei said, shaking his head. ”It was my own fault for being careless. I never expected someone to try and assassinate me, especially in a place like that.” Otherwise, how could someone merely at the level of an A+ Ability User have injured him so easily? In the end, he had been far too careless.

”An A+ Ability User? These Westerners are getting too presumptuous. Do they really think our Huaxia is so easy to bully?” Hearing this, Wang Dashan relaxed slightly, though a chill still crept across his plump, round face. Just a single A+ Ability User dared to wreak havoc in Huaxia, right under the Flying Leopard’s jurisdiction in the Three Provinces of Lingnan... Wasn’t that a bit too audacious? Thinking of this, he looked at Chen Fei and asked slowly, ”Chief Instructor, what are your orders?”

”Investigate! I’ll give you one day. I don’t care what methods you use, but you must find out who was behind this,” Chen Fei ordered, his face dark. ”Damn it! They dared to try and assassinate me? If I don’t burn their entire organization to the ground this time, then my name isn’t Chen Fei!”

”Burn their entire organization to the ground?” Hearing this, Director Wang Dashan and Chief Luo Yuanzhi exchanged a look. They could feel the intense, murderous rage in Chen Fei’s words, and a jolt of shock went through them.

It was obvious. Chief Instructor Chen was truly enraged this time. He was dead serious.

Director Wang Dashan immediately snapped to attention. ”Yes, sir!”

A day and a night later, Chen Fei finally had a file on the perpetrators. Staring at the document, he said with an expressionless face, ”The Strongest Assassin Organization in Italy… Crimson Fang?”

”Yes,” Director Wang nodded, a strange light in his eyes. ”This Crimson Fang is not only known as the most powerful assassin organization in Italy, but it’s also ranked fourth among the world’s top five assassin organizations. According to our investigation, the one who attacked you was a Silver Badge Assassin from Crimson Fang, with the moniker ’Child of Light’.”

”A Silver Badge Assassin? Child of Light?” Chen Fei murmured.

”That’s right,” Wang Dashan continued. ”Crimson Fang has twelve Silver Badge Assassins, and almost every one of them is capable of assassinating anyone below an S-rank Ability User. This particular operative, the Child of Light, was mentored by a legend in the Dark World—Jack the Blade.” He paused, his gaze flickering. ”...Jack the Blade is one of Crimson Fang’s four current aces. He once infiltrated the Vatican Holy See Church alone and came back with the head of a vice bishop.” A vice bishop of the Holy Church of the Divine Holy Church would be at least S-rank, to say nothing of being in a stronghold filled with fanatical believers.

”So where is he now? This ’Child of Light’,” Chen Fei asked, his lip twitching. He didn’t care about some Jack the Blade or anyone else. As he’d said, if he didn’t tear their organization down this time, his name wasn’t Chen Fei.

”About that...” Director Wang Dashan paused, a hint of self-reproach in his voice. ”I’m sorry, Chief Instructor. He vanished as if into thin air.”

”Vanished into thin air?” Chen Fei stroked his chin, muttering expressionlessly. It seems he truly is a professional, if even the Flying Leopard’s investigative capabilities can’t track him... ”Alright then. Do we have specific information on where this Crimson Fang’s lair is located?”

”We couldn’t find that either. Elder Luo personally called the Capital City to request files on Italy’s Crimson Fang but was told we didn’t have sufficient clearance,” Director Wang Dashan said, his expression strained.

”Insufficient clearance?” Chen Fei’s eyes narrowed, a sharp edge to his tone. ”Is it really a matter of insufficient clearance, or... is someone deliberately making things difficult for me?”

”Well, while it’s possible our Flying Leopard’s clearance is insufficient... the higher-ups shouldn’t have any reason to deny us on this matter. So…” Director Wang trailed off hesitantly.

”Is that so?” A cold smirk touched Chen Fei’s lips, and his pitch-black, lucid eyes glinted. It seems there are quite a few people who have a problem with me, Chen Fei, he murmured to himself. Fine. We’ll play their little game once I get back from Italy.

With that thought, he fixed his cold gaze on Wang Dashan again. ”Director Wang, one last question. Do you know who hired the assassin to come after me?”

”We don’t know,” Instructor Wang said, shaking his head. ”These types of organizations are extremely meticulous about protecting their clients’ confidentiality. We can’t even locate the assassin, let alone extract information about his employer. It’s incredibly difficult, if not impossible.”

”Alright, I understand. You may go now, Director Wang. I’d like some time alone,” Chen Fei said, his dark eyes flickering for a moment.

”Very well, Chief Instructor. I’ll take my leave.” Seeing this, Director Wang Dashan didn’t hesitate and promptly left the room.

”Crimson Fang? Child of Light?” After Wang Dashan left, Chen Fei slowly rose and walked to the window. He pulled back the curtains and gazed at the tranquil mountain scenery under the pale moonlight. A cold, mocking smile appeared on his face, tinged with a faint killing intent. As the saying goes, a dark, windy night is perfect for killing. Especially after what just happened to me... an assassination attempt. How could I possibly suppress the restless killing intent in my heart? Do they really think I, Chen Fei, am a pushover? An easy target?

At this thought, he pulled his phone from his pocket and dialed a number he had saved but never once called.

RING... RING...

”Hello.” The call connected, and a hoarse, elderly voice filled with surprise came through the receiver.

”Uncle Master Yan, it’s me, Chen Fei,” he said, his eyes narrowing into a smile.

The call wasn’t for just anyone. It was for his Uncle Master Yan, Yama himself, one of the three vice presidents of the Hong Kong Black Market. Needing to investigate something, he had naturally thought of him. After all, given the Hong Kong Black Market’s status throughout the Dark World of Southeast Asia, it was perhaps more reliable in certain matters than official channels.

”It really is you. I never thought you’d call an old man like me. What is it you need?” Uncle Master Yan asked, his voice conveying a mix of laughter and curiosity.

”Yes, I do have a favor to ask, Uncle Master. Have you ever heard of an organization called Crimson Fang?” Chen Fei asked directly.

”The Crimson Fang from Italy? Why are you asking about them?” Uncle Master Yan’s tone shifted on the other end.

”I want to know where their lair is,” Chen Fei said, his own tone unwavering as he maintained an expressionless smile.

”Why? Don’t tell me… How did you get entangled with them?” Uncle Master Yan demanded solemnly, ignoring the question. Even he tried to avoid those rats from the Dark World. Why would Chen Fei suddenly get involved with such troublesome people?

”It’s nothing much. Someone they sent just tried to assassinate me. I figure if I don’t teach these rats a lesson, they’ll never learn their place. So, I’ve decided to take a trip to Italy... and destroy their lair!”

A brilliant light flashed in Chen Fei’s dark, glaze-like eyes.
