Medical Sage

The Hong Kong Black Market is a powerful force renowned throughout the Eastern World. It stands shoulder to shoulder with the Tiger Leopard Hall and the First-Class Sect of Ancient Martial Arts, and can be considered the pillar and spiritual Holy Land of the underground world in both Hong Kong and Macau. Half-Step Innate and Innate Experts guard the area, looking down upon Xiangjiang with a might so boundless it seems to swallow the landscape.

Apart from its recognized founder and Elder, the Hong Kong Black Market has three other Deputy Heads, all of whom are either Innate Level Ancient Martial Arts Masters or S-Level Superpowered Ability Users. One of them was the gray-robed old man leaning on a crutch, who was known by a prominent moniker: Yama!

”So, the kid’s back in Hong Kong. It seems his relationship with the Chen Family is quite good...” The gray-robed elder held the report, his cloudy, aged eyes squinting as he chuckled and muttered to himself.

To this day, he still vividly remembered the scene outside the Black Market’s Ancient Castle. He, Yama, was a bona fide Innate Expert of Ancient Martial Arts, yet on that day, a mere ’youth’ in his twenties had managed to escape from right under his nose. It was quite ’embarrassing,’ and it had left a deep impression on him.

”I remember that old fellow’s stubborn temperament when he was young. I never would have thought that now, in his old age, he’d take a disciple who is the spitting image of how he used to be—so reckless. Sigh, it really is...” As the saying goes, birds of a feather flock together. He recalled all the unfair grievances he had suffered at that man’s hands in his youth, with his quirky and stubborn temper. He had truly had enough back then.

Yet now, after decades had passed, he had almost forgotten that sense of speechlessness and frustration, only for it to suddenly resurface because of this young man. And what a coincidence that he happened to be that stubborn old man’s disciple and successor.

Ah, it truly was fate.

After smiling to himself for a moment, the crutch-leaning elder suddenly asked in a soft voice, ”How long until the people from the Dark Angel Alliance arrive?”

”Reporting to the Deputy Head, we’ve confirmed by phone. They should arrive in Hong Kong in about two days,” a voice echoed from the shadows.

”In two days?” The crutch-leaning elder lightly caressed the carvings on his crutch and asked again, ”Has Elder Yue decided on his candidates? Also, I’ve heard that the Dark Angel Alliance has a new progenitor. Is that true?”

”Replying to the Deputy Head, Deputy Head Yue has already finalized the combat lineup. First is his own grandson, the twenty-four-year-old Thunder Element A-Level Ability User—Yue Kongchun. He will be joined by two of the organization’s top Four Star Level Members: the twenty-three-year-old Feng Hu and the twenty-four-year-old Xiang Chengdong. Both of them possess strength comparable to a First-Class Ancient Warrior.”

The voice from the darkness continued, ”As for the Dark Angel Alliance’s progenitor, the reports are true. Our people sent back confirmation earlier. The progenitor is currently twenty-two years old and is said to already possess the strength of an A+ Ability User.”

”A twenty-two-year-old A+ Level Ability User. Truly worthy of the name ’Chosen One’.” Hearing this, even a powerful Innate Level figure like the crutch-wielding elder couldn’t help but sigh in admiration.

When he was twenty-two, he was probably still ’playing in the mud,’ not even having reached the level of a First-Class Ancient Warrior. That was why these Chosen Ones and progenitors were so terrifying.

But when compared to that stubborn kid...

As this thought crossed his mind, the elder suddenly smiled like a sly fox. His eyes narrowed as he said, ”Go and tell Elder Yue to save a spot for me. I have my own arrangements to make.”

Meanwhile, far away in a luxurious villa in Hong Kong’s Shallow Water Bay, Chen Fei had no idea that he was being plotted against. By now, Chen Yaoyang had arranged a spare room for him and had also ’deported’ all non-essential servants, housekeepers, and bodyguards from the villa to ensure the environment was sufficiently quiet.

Inside the room, a nervous Chen Hao spoke, his voice tense with unease, ”Mr. Chen, we’ve troubled you.”

He couldn’t help it. Even though Chen Fei had stated that he held no grudge and had traveled all the way to Hong Kong to personally treat him, their statuses were worlds apart. Even someone of his father’s standing had to treat Mr. Chen with such respect and awe. How could he, a mere ’junior’ from the Chen Family’s fourth generation, dare to be presumptuous?

”Relax. I’m not that scary, and your illness isn’t that scary either,” Chen Fei reassured him, a helpless look on his face. ”Besides, we’re about the same age, right? Just act normal. Please, act normal, or this is going to be really awkward for me.”

What else could he do? He was truly at a loss. He was just a young man in his twenties, in the prime of his life where people admired him, flowers bloomed in his presence, and cars vied for his attention—the very picture of youthful charm!

But now, this guy was making him feel like some sort of ancient patriarch, a man in his seventies or eighties that everyone had to fear and revere.

Honestly, that feeling isn’t pleasant at all, is it? The awkwardness of the past couple of days has been almost unbearable.

”Oh, uh, alright then.” Chen Hao was clearly a sharp young man. Hearing the resentment in Chen Fei’s tone, his eyes lit up. ”To be honest, I’m not used to this either, especially calling you Mr. Chen. It makes you sound so old. How about I call you Brother Fei from now on? What do you think?”

In fact, it was just as uncomfortable and awkward for him to be so formal and respectful, especially toward someone his own age.

”Alright, it’s a deal,” Chen Fei agreed instantly, nodding without hesitation. ”Lie down first so I can begin the treatment.” He then instructed Chen Hao to lie down and proceeded to check his pulse.

In reality, with his current level of medical skill, he wouldn’t need to check a pulse for a common ailment; a single glance would suffice. It was the same principle that had allowed him to spot the tumor in the man’s brain at a glance. However, the situation now was more complex. The tumor had become malignant, and cancer cells had begun to spread. Even he found this degree of illness somewhat troublesome, so it was better to be cautious to prevent any mistakes.

As his hand hovered lightly over Chen Hao’s wrist, the Spiritual Energy inside his body was already in motion. It slowly entered Chen Hao’s body, gradually spreading to every corner.

”It really has started to spread,” Chen Fei murmured, his brow furrowing slightly. He could indeed feel that the cancer cells had spread.

Lying on the bed, Chen Hao’s heart clenched when he heard this, but he remained silent, clenching his jaw. His body, however, began to tremble uncontrollably. Seeing this, Chen Fei swiftly chopped the side of his neck, knocking him unconscious. ”Sorry, but I need you to take a nap.”

Clearly, Chen Hao’s anxious state was not suitable for the treatment. Furthermore, the methods he was about to use were rather unconventional, even world-shocking. He didn’t want any witnesses, as that would only lead to trouble.

For a severe case like Chen Hao’s, where the cancer cells had already begun to spread, the simplest approach was to first eliminate all of them. Then, he would use Spiritual Energy to envelop the malignant brain tumor, healing it and gradually restoring it to its pre-cancerous state. That is, to revert the malignant tumor back into a benign one. Once it reached that stage, completely eradicating it would be much simpler.

”Alright, let’s do this,” he said to himself, and with a clear plan, he got to work.

With his current cultivation at the peak of the Qi Refining Third Layer, he could just barely manage to shape his Spiritual Energy into a ’scalpel’ to excise and destroy the cancer cells within the body. However, the task was still incredibly taxing for him. Before long, his forehead was beaded with sweat.

”Looks like I have to find a way to break through to the Qi Refining Fourth Layer soon. I’ve really been feeling like my cultivation level is insufficient lately,” Chen Fei muttered, wiping the sweat from his brow.

At his current level, the peak of the Qi Refining Third Layer, he was only half a step from a breakthrough. All he lacked was an opportunity; otherwise, he could advance at any moment.

Once he broke through to the Qi Refining Fourth Layer, he would be able to strut around almost anywhere without a care. A cultivator at the Qi Refining Fourth Layer was on par with an early-stage Innate Ancient Martial Artist, with no half-step levels in between. That’s what made the stage so formidable. Each breakthrough was like entering a new realm, creating a vast, world-altering difference in power.

About half an hour later, Chen Fei dragged his exhausted body out of the room. His face was pale, and his fingers were trembling slightly. The sight made Chen Yaoyang and the others tense up, their expressions tinged with panic.

”Mr. Chen, are you alright?” Dong Shuxian asked with concern. She had seen this before—the last time at the Dong Family Villa, he had looked just like this.

Her words snapped Chen Yaoyang back to reality. ”Mr. Chen, would you like to rest? Your room is ready,” he said, equally concerned.

Until now, neither of them had asked about their son’s condition. It wasn’t that they didn’t want to; they just felt it was more important to show their concern for Chen Fei. After all, seeing him suddenly become so weak, it was obvious it was a result of treating their son.

”Okay, I’ll go sleep for a bit. I’m exhausted,” Chen Fei said listlessly, too tired to be polite. ”Um, Uncle Yaoyang, Ms. Dong, Chen Hao is fine now. I’ve cleared out all the cancer cells in his body. As for the tumor in his head, I’ll write him a prescription tonight when I wake up. Two or three months on that medication should be enough to eradicate it completely.”

”Really? Thank you, Mr. Chen! Thank you so much!” Dong Shuxian exclaimed, overcome with excitement.

A look of pure joy spread across Chen Yaoyang’s face. He stepped forward to support Chen Fei toward the prepared room. ”Mr. Chen, let me help you to your room to rest. It has a private bathroom, so you can take a shower. You’ve worked so hard. We are so incredibly grateful...”
