Medical Sage

Meanwhile, Chen Fei had just stepped out of Slickhead’s room. He had gone there to deliver two things: the apology video he recorded for Junn Yuanyi and the nearly four hundred million US dollars he had won at Nine Heavens of the Milky Way. He had won this for his brother; otherwise, he wouldn’t have bothered.

As he often said, he wasn’t short on money, nor did he enjoy hoarding wealth like some tycoon. For the man he was today, making money was far too simple, too easily accomplished—and therefore, it had lost its appeal. Of course, there was an even more important reason: the things he pursued now were completely different. His goals had been elevated to a much higher plane. So, money? It was just paper. As long as he had enough, it was fine.

However, when faced with a colossal sum approaching four hundred million US dollars, even the mentally-prepared Slickhead Hua Zhinan was still utterly shocked, almost stupefied. After all, that was nearly $400,000,000! Converted to RMB, it was at least two billion. In his entire life, he had never seen, let alone dared to dream of, such an astronomical amount of money. Yet now, it was right there in front of him. It felt like a dream, an absolutely staggering one.

Despite this, Slickhead ultimately refused to accept the money. Firstly, the sheer amount terrified him. Secondly, he felt he had no reason to accept it. Not everyone is willing to go with the flow, to be paralyzed by the sight of money and accept a handout. Perhaps this was the last shred of integrity and pride he could cling to. He had always considered Chen Fei his brother, and no matter how vast the distance between them had become, he refused to let that bond turn into something else. Besides, deep down, he truly, desperately wanted to catch up on his own merit.

Just as Chen Fei was returning to his room, he spotted Chen Yaoyang pacing anxiously outside. ”Eh? Uncle Yaoyang, what are you doing here? Are you looking for me?”

Upon hearing Chen Fei’s voice and seeing that he had finally returned, Chen Yaoyang’s face flooded with excitement and anxiety. With a THUMP, he suddenly knelt before Chen Fei. Biting his lip with reddened eyes, he kowtowed and apologized, ”Mr. Chen, you’ve returned. Previously, my wife and son were ignorant. I beg you, Mr. Chen, please be magnanimous and don’t hold their actions against them.”

”Hey, what are you doing? Get up, get up!” Chen Fei was startled and immediately waved his hand, using an unseen force to pull the man to his feet. ”If you have something to say, just say it. What is all this?”

Honestly, this is absurd. Sure, the man was respectful, but he was still technically his uncle by generation. They had no grudges; in fact, their relationship was quite good! For him to suddenly kneel like this was baffling. Doesn’t he know this kind of gesture shortens the lifespan of the one receiving it? After all, despite my formidable martial arts and medical skills, I’m just a promising young man of the new era, no different from my peers. This sudden drama is way outside my comfort zone. Can’t people just talk things out normally? Why do they have to be so damn scary about it? Seriously...

Chen Yaoyang felt an invisible force lift him up, leaving him completely unable to resist, even though Chen Fei hadn’t moved a muscle. This only served to deepen the awe he felt for the young man.

Even so, Chen Yaoyang clenched his teeth and pressed on, ”Mr. Chen, I apologize. I was just too anxious. Right now... you are the only hope I can see.”

”Stop, that’s enough! Just tell me what’s wrong,” Chen Fei interrupted, a headache already starting to form.

Honestly. I’m Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, a guy so devastatingly handsome that people swoon and flowers bloom in my wake. Can you please not act like I’m about to eat you? I’m not the final boss of some story. Is it so hard to just talk things out?

In fact, his overwhelming power had a strange tendency to make simple things bizarrely complicated. Just like now, with Chen Yaoyang struggling to say something that could have been explained in a single sentence.

Seeing that Chen Fei was so easy to talk to, Chen Yaoyang finally let out a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding. He began to speak slowly, his expression still tense. ”It’s like this, Mr. Chen. Do you remember how you noticed there might be a problem with my son Chen Hao’s headaches? Well, Shuxian just called me. They found out what it is at the Hong Kong Hospital...”

”A tumor?” Chen Fei cut in.

I knew it. Back at the Hong Kong Airport, I saw that something was wrong with the kid’s health, like a tumor in his head. But they dismissed me because I was young, so I didn’t press the issue. I remember thinking the tumor wasn’t a big deal, probably benign. But now... has there been a malignancy?

”Yes, a tumor in his brain. And... it seems to have already spread.” Seeing that Chen Fei actually knew about it—that he’d seen the tumor in his son’s brain from the very beginning—Chen Yaoyang’s eyes lit up as a sliver of hope ignited within him.

”Spread... so it’s become malignant,” Chen Fei muttered to himself, rubbing his chin. Tumors are always troublesome, especially once they spread and turn cancerous. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have earned the reputation of being a terminal illness.

Hearing Chen Fei’s muttered tone, Chen Yaoyang’s heart clenched with anxiety. Still, he chose to place his trust in Chen Fei unconditionally. ”Yes,” he said nervously. ”Mr. Chen, can you treat my son?”

Chen Fei was exasperated. ”Why aren’t you asking if I *can* cure him?” Seriously, this is a tumor, cancer! Who starts by asking if you’re *willing* to treat it instead of if you *can*? That puts a lot of pressure on me, you know?

”I might not trust anyone else, but if you’re willing to help, Mr. Chen, I believe that even the most terrifying illness would be no problem for you!” Chen Yaoyang immediately replied, shamelessly sucking up.

Clearly, the man wasn’t a fool; otherwise, he never would have been appointed as Chen Fei’s proxy guardian. The fact that Chen Fei could speak with such a casual, exasperated tone meant he was unconsciously confident. He wouldn’t speak like that if he wasn’t sure. This means... I really have found the right person!

”Alright, since you put it that way,” Chen Fei said with a chuckle, deciding not to argue the point. ”Don’t worry, Uncle Yaoyang. Tumors are troublesome, but they aren’t untreatable. I can cure it.”

*I can cure it.* That simple statement was packed with absolute confidence, steeped in the dignity and pride of Chen Fei, successor to an expert from the Cultivation World. To him, so-called cancer and malignant tumors were indeed troublesome, but they were far from incurable. They were not beyond his abilities.

”Really?” Chen Yaoyang exclaimed, overwhelmed with excitement. ”I knew it! With your incredible medical skills, Mr. Chen, not even cancer could possibly stump you!” He quickly composed himself and bowed deeply. ”Regarding the incident at the airport, I apologize on behalf of Chen Hao and Shuxian. They were blind and failed to recognize your greatness...”

”Alright, alright,” Chen Fei interrupted with a smile. ”I’m not that petty. Besides, I understand his reaction. If some random person came up to me and said I was sick, I’d also think they were a lunatic.”

”Still, thank you very much, Mr. Chen. Should I arrange for Chen Hao to come to Macau right away?” Chen Yaoyang asked carefully, his thoughts consumed by his son’s condition despite his immense gratitude.

”There’s no need. Let him rest at home. I’ll go to Hong Kong with you tomorrow,” Chen Fei said with a smile.

As a doctor with at least a shred of medical ethics, I can’t just make a cancer patient travel thousands of miles to see me. Besides, my business in Macau is finished anyway. Might as well take a trip to Hong Kong.

”You’re going to Hong Kong?” Chen Yaoyang was thrilled. ”That’s... thank you so much! I won’t disturb your rest then. I’ll head back to my room.” He hadn’t expected Chen Fei to be so accommodating, so willing to personally travel to Hong Kong to treat his son. His heart filled with overwhelming gratitude.

”Alright, see you tomorrow,” Chen Fei replied with a smile as he entered his room. Going to Hong Kong again, huh? I’m actually looking forward to it... the black market...

「A few minutes later」

Back in his room, Chen Yaoyang dialed his wife, Dong Shuxian. The call connected instantly, and her anxious, eager voice burst through the phone. ”Yaoyang, how did it go? What did Mr. Chen say? Is he willing to treat Chen Hao?”

”Relax, everything is fine.” Chen Yaoyang’s tone was completely relieved as he sighed. ”We were overthinking things. Mr. Chen might possess terrifying power, but he’s actually very easy to talk to. It doesn’t seem like he held the incident at the airport against us at all.”

”Really? That’s wonderful!” Dong Shuxian sounded both embarrassed and relieved, but her main concern was still her son. ”Then, what about Chen Hao’s illness...?”

”Didn’t I just say everything is fine? Mr. Chen said that although the illness is troublesome, he can cure it!” Chen Yaoyang stated with certainty.

”He can cure it? Really? That’s incredible! If he says he can cure it, then he definitely can! This means our son can be saved!” Dong Shuxian’s eyes widened, and she was so overcome with emotion that she nearly burst into tears.

She remembered hearing those exact same words back at the Dong Family Villa in Tongzhou City: *I can cure it!* And right after, he had single-handedly pulled her father back from the brink of death.

So now, that phrase meant more to her than just a few words; it was an absolute guarantee. It was like magic.

Her son, Chen Hao, could truly be saved! Thank the Bodhisattva! Thank the Bodhisattva!
