Medical Sage

Chen Fei had made it clear he was here to fish, so if he didn’t catch his desired quarry, he naturally had to continue. With a chuckle, he started playing cards again. It had to be said, the feeling of cheating at Golden Flower with hacks was simply exhilarating, leaving him almost unable to stop.

After leading Sixth Lord Hee out of the top-tier VIP room, Chen Yaoyang glanced at the sweat beading on the man’s forehead and couldn’t help but say earnestly, ”Sixth Lord, it’s a good thing you reacted quickly back there. Otherwise, if you had provoked Mr. Chen, it would have turned into a major incident!”

”A major incident?”

At those words, Sixth Lord Hee trembled, his fingers clenching so hard they turned white. He suddenly grabbed Chen Yaoyang’s shoulders, his expression grave. ”Yaoyang, we’re old friends, and we’ve had many successful collaborations. Can you tell me what’s really going on today? Not only did a senior from your Chen Family come personally, but there’s also that young man—who exactly is he?”

”Alas... today’s affair isn’t really related to you, nor does it involve the Hex Family much. It’s just...” Chen Yaoyang sighed.

His expression then turned extremely serious as he continued, ”As for Mr. Chen… the situation is much like what you saw. I can’t answer who he is yet, but I can tell you one thing very clearly: his strength is very likely even greater than that of our Chen Family’s Great Elder!” Even as he said it, he couldn’t help but reveal a hint of awe and incredulity in his eyes.

The Great Elder is from my grandfather’s generation and is at least ninety years old, so his terrifying strength is understandable. But Chen Fei is twenty-five at most! How can he not only toy with that old monster from the Ma Family, but also make our own strongest Great Elder seem so deferential upon meeting him? How could this not be shocking!

Sixth Lord Hee sucked in a sharp breath. ”What? How is that possible!?” Even as a big shot from Macau, he was completely dumbfounded.

Since the Hex Family was of the same nature as Hong Kong’s Five Great Noble Families, he naturally understood what ”strength” referred to. But this is the Great Elder of the Chen Family we’re talking about! He’s an A-Level Fire Element Ability User at the very least, on par with Hee Qiuming, the ancestor of our Hex Family of Macau. But now, from what I’m hearing… that twenty-something young man is actually more powerful than the Great Elder of the Chen Family? How could this be possible? A-Level Ability Users are exceptionally rare on a global scale. Each one is a hegemon in the eastern and western underworlds and considered half a notch stronger than a First-Class Ancient Martial Artist due to their innate advantages! How could a mere man in his twenties compare? Is this a joke?

”You don’t believe it?” Chen Yaoyang knew what he was thinking just from his expression. ”Frankly, I wouldn’t have believed it a few months ago either. But after meeting Mr. Chen, I was convinced.”

After a brief pause, he continued, ”I don’t know if your family has received the news, but that old monster from the Ma Family was suddenly seriously injured. Do you know who did it?”

”Our family did investigate some clues, but wait... could it be...” As soon as Sixth Lord Hee heard this, he answered reflexively. But when the implication finally dawned on him, his pupils constricted and his face filled with shock. Could it be...

”Right, it was the man inside. I was there when it happened. I personally saw that old monster from the Ma Family rendered almost completely powerless at his hands!” Chen Yaoyang dropped another bombshell, startling Sixth Lord Hee so much he nearly jumped out of his skin.

What? What in the world? No... no power to fight back!?

Struggling to swallow, Sixth Lord Hee looked at Chen Yaoyang with a dazed expression and stammered, ”Yaoyang, that… that incident… what exactly happened? Is it… is it really that serious?”

”Didn’t your Hex Family host the Young Master of the Holy Fire Sect a few days ago?” Chen Yaoyang looked at him and spoke slowly.

”The Young Master of the Holy Fire Sect?” Sixth Lord Hee’s complexion changed drastically. The person Chen Yaoyang mentioned was a significant figure, one that even the Hex Family of Macau was wary of.

”Does this matter have something to do with him?” Sixth Lord Hee asked, swallowing hard.

”A few days ago, a young man named Hua Zhinan had an unfortunate conflict with him. Bearing a grudge, the Young Master privately instructed He Che to set a trap and swindle Hua Zhinan out of one hundred million. Afterwards, he even had him detained. And that Hua Zhinan... he’s the brother of the man inside,” Chen Yaoyang finally laid the whole affair bare.

As his voice fell, he patted Sixth Lord Hee on the shoulder, his expression impassive. ”I’ll leave it at that. I’m going back in.”

”Brother Yaoyang…” Sixth Lord Hee reflexively tried to grab Chen Yaoyang, only to grasp at air as the latter had already re-entered the VIP room.

Seeing this, a chill ran down Sixth Lord Hee’s spine. He cursed that fool He Che for bringing such immense trouble upon the family while simultaneously weighing the credibility of Chen Yaoyang’s words.

With Yaoyang’s status, and the fact that the old man himself appeared, there’s really no reason for him to lie to me… He quickly shivered and licked his dry lips, realizing that Chen Yaoyang truly had no need to deceive him. I fear that young man really does possess the strength to surpass the Great Elder of the Luo Family and seriously injure that old monster from the Ma Family.

At the thought, his face turned a few shades paler.

Stronger than an overlord-level A-Level Ability User... what kind of terrifying realm would that be? An A+ Ability User? The peak of a First-Class Ancient Warrior?

While his heart was filled with fear and shock, Sixth Lord Hee couldn’t help but give a bitter, wry smile. It seemed the Hex Family had run into some rotten luck, hitting a steel wall by pure chance. In his opinion, although He Che had made a mess of things, his actions weren’t entirely wrong; after all, the other party was the Young Master of the Holy Fire Sect. It was impossible not to show him deference.

The problem was that their target also had a significant background, with a heaven-defying young man for a brother! And now, a member of the Hex Family had plotted against and detained him.

Of course, he also noticed something else: the Chen Family had stepped in with a clear, firm stance despite knowing the Holy Fire Sect was involved. Do they believe that young man’s background is even more terrifying than the Holy Fire Sect’s? That’s the Holy Fire Sect we’re talking about! One of only eleven second-tier Ancient Martial Arts sects in the inland, with a Half-Step Innate Powerhouse, the equivalent of a Half-Step S-Rank Ability User!

It seems this matter is out of my hands... Sixth Lord Hee felt like his head was about to explode as he reluctantly pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

The current Clan Leader of the Hex Family of Macau was Hee Yuanpei. In his youth, he and Sixth Lord Hee’s father, Hee Jinhui, were known as the Hex Family’s twin stars, the most dazzling young men of their era. After Hee Jinhui’s unfortunate death from a terminal illness, Hee Yuanpei lost his rival and naturally became the current Family Head.

In truth, Hee Yuanpei deeply regretted the untimely death of Sixth Lord Hee’s father. He wasn’t a narrow-minded person and genuinely felt it was a great pity for such an outstanding man to die from an illness.

Now, however, he saw in Sixth Lord Hee shadows of both his late rival and his own younger self, which was why he had always held him in high regard and entrusted him with great responsibility.

Although he didn’t want to admit it, while he may have won against Hee Jinhui, his own son had been far surpassed by the other man’s.

Therefore, when he received a call from Sixth Lord Hee, he answered immediately. ”Little Liu? What’s the matter?”

”Family Head, there’s been a major incident,” Sixth Lord Hee’s grave voice came from the other end of the line, making him start.

”…A major incident? What kind of major incident?” Hee Yuanpei asked slowly, a solemn expression forming on his face. ”Speak. What exactly happened?” He knew Sixth Lord Hee’s character and capabilities well; it was impossible for him to make a mistake in judgment on something like this. If he said it was a major incident, then it truly was.

”He Che set up a young man, swindled him out of one hundred million, and has now detained him,” Sixth Lord Hee said slowly after taking a deep breath.

”Did Little Che cause trouble again? Keep talking, what happened?” Hee Yuanpei frowned. After all, if it was just something of ’that extent’, it shouldn’t be considered a major incident.

”He Che did it at the private suggestion of the Young Master of the Holy Fire Sect… but the young man he targeted is no ordinary person. Now, his backer has come looking for trouble at the Nine Heavens of the Milky Way. Chen Yaoyang and the Great Elder of the Chen Family are both there,” Sixth Lord Hee explained.

Hee Yuanpei was so startled he shot up from his seat, his expression changing dramatically. ”The Great Elder of the Chen Family? Which elder...? Ah! You mean *the* Great Elder of the Chen Family!?”

That’s the Great Elder of the Chen Family! He’s at the same terrifying level as the old Clan Leader of our Hex Family of Macau. Even I, Hee Yuanpei, would have to bow and tread carefully around him… And now he’s personally shown up in Macau!

”You mean to say, the Great Elder of the Chen Family came for that young man?” Hee Yuanpei asked, his tone heavy with gravity. If that’s true, then this really is a serious problem!

”No,” Sixth Lord Hee replied with a bitter smile. ”It seems the old man isn’t the main person in charge. The one actually in charge… well, he appears to be a young man.”

”What... what did you say!?” Despite his status as the Clan Leader of the Hex Family of Macau, and being a B+ Ability User himself, Hee Yuanpei couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath. His eyes filled with utter shock.

The Great Elder of the Chen Family, their strongest elder, isn’t the main figure here? And the actual person in charge is… a young man!? How could that be possible! Is this some kind of joke?
