”Ah! Ah! Ah...”

”I’m going to personally slaughter that bastard! How dare he make me, Junn Yuanyi, slap my own face, record some apology video, and even cut off one of my arms! Just you wait! I will never let this go! I will make you pay with your blood! Blood for blood!”

Nearly ten minutes after Chen Fei had left, a twisted roar finally echoed from the seaside villa. It was Junn Yuanyi, his face contorted in a hideous snarl.

Upon seeing this, the other Holy Fire Sect disciples, including the Old Man with Brown Spots, Xue Hongxin, felt nothing but contempt. However, they were still intimidated by Junn Yuanyi’s status as the Young Master of the Holy Fire Sect and by his grandfather—the sect’s only Half-Step Innate Powerhouse and a true patriarch. Because of this, they dared not show their disdain.

Only the Old Man with Brown Spots, Xue Hongxin, his face livid, spoke grimly, ”That’s right, we can’t just let this go! The dignity of our Holy Fire Sect has been severely provoked! Yuanyi, quickly pick up your arm. Let’s head straight to the hospital; we can definitely reattach it if we hurry! Once your arm is reattached, we must immediately return to the sect and ask the Great Elder to come forth and vindicate us!”

”Don’t worry, Elder Xue,” Junn Yuanyi said, his face twisted with malice. ”Grandfather dotes on me! I will definitely persuade him to come out of retirement and take revenge for me.”

Having lost an arm, Junn Yuanyi’s face was a mask of distorted ferocity. He snarled with resentment, ”So his name is Chen Fei, is it? Daring to lay a hand on me, Junn Yuanyi—that will be the stupidest thing you’ve ever done in your life! Just wait until you fall into my hands. Go repent in hell! I, Junn Yuanyi, will make you wish for death but be denied it!”

...

Meanwhile, in the darkness of the night, a Phaeton drove quietly down the road.

”Mr. Chen, is everything taken care of?” asked Chen Yaoyang from the driver’s seat. Considering his status as the acting head of the Hong Kong Chen Family, the fact that he was willing to be a chauffeur showed just how terrifying Chen Fei’s standing was in his eyes—comparable to that of the Chen Family’s Great Elder, if not higher!

The Chen Family’s Great Elder, the One-eyed Elder, was also in the car. He frowned slightly and asked, ”I just sensed an energy fluctuation from the villa. Did you get into a fight in there, Mr. Chen?”

Just now, during the fight between Chen Fei and those from the Holy Fire Sect, the unique characteristics of the Divine Skill of the Holy Fire Token caused flames to erupt and energy to surge wildly. He had sensed intense fluctuations, and their strength was not weak! In fact, among them was one glaringly powerful energy signature that nearly matched his own, making it impossible for him to ignore. Could there be an A-Level Ability User or a high-ranking master from the Holy Fire Sect hidden in that villa?

”Yeah, we fought,” Chen Fei said with a sigh. ”Those guys attacked me the moment they saw me. I had no choice but to fight back.”

Truth be told, he hadn’t intended to kill anyone when he went there; he had only planned to scare them a little. To his surprise, those people gave him no choice, attacking with lethal intent right from the start. In a situation like that, he couldn’t just pretend to be some merciful saint. That wasn’t realistic at all.

”You actually fought? How many of them were there? Were they all disciples of the Holy Fire Sect?” Chen Yaoyang asked curiously.

If it were just his own curiosity, he would never have dared to ask Chen Fei such a question. But the Great Elder, the One-eyed Elder, kept signaling him with his eyes. He couldn’t defy the Great Elder’s wishes, so he had to bite the bullet and ask.

Chen Fei didn’t think much of it and replied casually, ”Seven or eight of them, I think. They all seemed to be from the Holy Fire Sect. One of them might have been some kind of elder?”

Chen Yaoyang gasped. ”An Elder?”

He knew that an elder of a second-rate sect in the Inland Circle of Ancient Martial Arts had to possess the strength of a First-Class Ancient Warrior to hold that position. There was actually a hidden Elder of the Holy Fire Sect—a First-Class Ancient Warrior expert—inside that villa?

Upon hearing Chen Fei’s words, a thought surfaced in the One-eyed Elder’s mind. Just as I expected.

An energy fluctuation intense enough to make him—an A-Level Fire Element Abilities User—feel threatened had to come from someone at least at the level of a First-Class Ancient Warrior or an A-Level Ability User of the same caliber.

”Truly, heroes emerge from the young,” he couldn’t help but exclaim. ”I, Chen Yuan, have lived for most of my life, and I am deeply impressed.” So, his name was Chen Yuan.

”You flatter me, Great Elder. I was just lucky,” Chen Fei said with a laugh.

Yes, he was just lucky. He had accidentally received the inheritance from that powerful expert from the Cultivation World, which led to his formidable strength today. Otherwise, he would be an ordinary Second Rate Ancient Martial Artist at best, a far cry from his current prowess.

”Luck is a part of strength,” the Great Elder of the Chen Family remarked, shaking his head with a faint smile. Indeed, luck is a part of strength! After all, throughout history, how many people became legends and towering figures simply due to good fortune? Quite a few. He himself was a living example, just not as formidable as Chen Fei.

”You’re right,” Chen Fei said, nodding in strong agreement. He then suddenly asked, ”Great Elder, would you mind if I ask about something rather private?”

”Mr. Chen, please ask. If I know the answer, I will tell you everything,” the Great Elder of the Chen Family responded directly.

”Alright, then I’ll ask.” Chen Fei organized his thoughts for a moment before speaking slowly. ”I wanted to ask... what exactly are Ability Users? Or, how does one become an Ability User?”

”Why has Mr. Chen suddenly become interested in this?” the Great Elder of the Chen Family asked, looking puzzled. He knew Chen Fei was an Ancient Martial Artist, an extremely powerful one at that, in no way inferior to an Ability User. Why would he suddenly be interested in this?

”It’s for my brother. He recently found out about our world and wants to become one of us. However, the path of an Ancient Martial Artist is already closed to him, as he’s long past the optimal age for training, so...” Chen Fei explained.

”I see. To be held in such high regard by you, Mr. Chen... your friend is very fortunate indeed,” the Great Elder of the Chen Family said with a laugh before his expression turned serious. ”Regarding how one becomes an Ability User, I’ll be brief. There are only two ways: natural awakening and inheritance awakening.”

”Natural awakening, inheritance awakening? What do you mean?” Chen Fei asked, clearly puzzled.

He could somewhat understand natural awakening; the name was self-explanatory. But what was inheritance awakening? Could the powers of Ability Users really be passed down from one generation to the next?

”Natural awakening means that every person on Earth has a one in tens of millions, or even nearly one in a hundred million, chance to naturally awaken the ability energy within them. We usually call these people ’the Chosen’ or ’the First Generation.’ They are few in number but possess immense potential. Almost every one of these lucky individuals has a high probability of becoming an S-Level Superpowered,” the Great Elder of the Chen Family explained with a smile.

”A high probability of becoming an S-Level Superpowered?” Chen Fei couldn’t help but be surprised.

An S-Level Superpowered! That was an undisputed dominant existence in the Western Dark World, equivalent to the Innate Level among Ancient Martial Artists! It was a level every Ability User dreamed of reaching, an ultimate aspiration! Yet these so-called ’Chosen’ had a high probability of reaching it... That truly lived up to the name!

”That’s right. Every one of the Chosen is a treasure. The appearance of such a lucky individual would cause an earthquake throughout the entire circle of Ability Users,” the Great Elder of the Chen Family nodded, a look of yearning in his turbid, aged eyes.

If only their Chen Family could produce one of the Chosen. Then, the status of their Chen Family of Macau within the circle of Ability Users would undergo a revolutionary, earth-shaking change.

”As for inheritance awakening, as the name suggests, it is the awakening of ability energy through inheritance. When an Ability User dies, they can, if they wish, voluntarily condense their ability energy into an object called an ’Ability Crystal.’ This Ability Crystal can turn an ordinary person into an Ability User with one hundred percent certainty,” the Great Elder of the Chen Family continued.

”An Ability Crystal? It can turn an ordinary person into an Ability User with one hundred percent certainty?” Chen Fei’s eyes lit up. This seemed to be exactly what he was looking for.

”Correct, but this Ability Crystal has many limitations. For example, if an A-Level Ability User like myself were to die, I could condense an A-Level Ability Crystal. However, even if someone uses a crystal of this grade to awaken, there’s a high chance they will only reach B-Level. In rare cases, they might reach the peak of B-Level, but they could even end up at C-Level! The variability is just too great,” the Great Elder of the Chen Family said with a sigh of lament. ”It’s well known that the cultivation speed for Ability Users is already incredibly slow. To think that an A-Level Ability Crystal would most likely only awaken a B-Level ability, or even a C-Level ability with slightly worse luck... The variables are too great, giving one much to be hesitant about.”

To Chen Fei, however, this all seemed perfectly logical. After all, if there weren’t such strict limitations, the world would be overflowing with Ability Users. How could that be possible?

Meanwhile, at a top private hospital in Hong Kong, Dong Shuxian clenched a brain CT scan report in her trembling hands. Her face was pale with panic. ”What... what? A tumor?” she stammered, her lips trembling. ”My son is so young, so healthy... how could he possibly have a tumor?”

A tumor? Impossible. She refused to believe it.
