”Director Gao, it’s me, Chen Fei.”

The moment money was involved, Chen Fei’s first thought was of Gao Zhinan from the Vast Sea Group. Ever since Gao Zhinan had absorbed most of the market share left behind by the Celestial Phenomena Group, he had become the richest man in Northern Mountain City. His influence was truly immense. A mere one hundred million yuan would be nothing in the eyes of a man like him.

So, he didn’t bother with pleasantries. When the call connected, Gao Zhinan’s voice came through. ”Mr. Chen, hello. Why are you calling me? Is there something you need help with?” He knew that Chen Fei rarely called unless it was for something important, so he got straight to the point.

Besides, if Chen Fei needs my help, how could I possibly refuse?

”Director Gao, there is indeed something I need your help with,” Chen Fei said directly. ”One of my good friends was set up in Macau and lost one hundred million yuan. He’s being held there now, and his family can’t afford to pay. I was wondering if you could lend me one hundred million for now. I’ll pay you back in a while.”

”Mr. Chen, you’re being too formal. For a mere one hundred million, there’s no need to talk about paying it back. I’ll have someone prepare the money at once. Should I transfer it directly to your account?” Gao Zhinan immediately and confidently accepted the request.

This was a joke. It was only one hundred million. That amount had never been an issue for him, not even in the past. It was a trivial matter, so there was no need to even mention repayment. In his eyes, Chen Fei was like a living immortal, an extraordinary figure in the city. For such a person to ask him for a loan was an honor. If I brought up repayment, wouldn’t that make me, Gao Zhinan, seem foolish and cheap? A mere one hundred million yuan… am I short on cash? Of course not!

”Business is business,” Chen Fei said, shaking his head, unwilling to take the money for free. ”Besides, this money is more of a backup. It’s very possible we won’t even need it.”

He paused, then continued, ”I’ll give you a phone number. You can call them and negotiate. Oh, right, Director Gao, do you have any connections in Macau? I need someone with real influence because I want to find out what’s really going on.”

”I’m sorry, Mr. Chen. Although I have friends in Macau, their status and positions might not be influential enough,” Gao Zhinan responded apologetically. At the end of the day, he was only the wealthiest man in Northern Mountain City; his influence was limited and didn’t extend as far as Macau.

”Oh, that’s fine then. I’ll ask someone else. I’ll hang up now and text you the number,” Chen Fei said, ending the call. He wasn’t disappointed that Gao Zhinan didn’t have any powerful contacts in Macau, as he had only asked on a whim.

After hanging up, he sent a text message with Slickhead’s mother’s phone number to Gao Zhinan. He then sat in the police car, lost in thought for a moment, before dialing Chen Yaoyang of the Chen Family.

The Chen Family was one of Hong Kong’s five publicly acknowledged Great Tycoon Families and the power behind New Mark, wielding substantial influence in both Hong Kong and Macau. Because of this, even the top local powers in Macau wouldn’t dare to underestimate them. This was why Chen Fei was calling him.

Since this happened in Macau, the Chen Family should have some say, right? At the very least, they should be able to find out what happened. In any case, he had no intention of letting this matter slide. He planned to go there himself. No matter what kind of monsters they are, they dared to scam my brother. So, they want to play? Fine, we’ll take our time with this.

A moment later, the call connected. Chen Yaoyang’s respectful voice came through the line. ”Mr. Chen, hello, this is Chen Yaoyang. What can I do for you?” Clearly, he had the same ”high level of awareness” as Gao Zhinan. He knew Chen Fei wouldn’t call him for no reason! And yet, he felt deeply honored. After all, Chen Fei had easily defeated the old monster from the Ma Family—it was more like a complete thrashing! For such a terrifying figure to reach out to him, Chen Yaoyang, for help... this was a sign of respect! It was his honor!

”Yes, I need your help with something. How influential is your Chen Family in Macau?” Chen Fei asked directly.

”Macau?” Chen Yaoyang was momentarily stunned, then answered with brimming confidence, ”In Macau, everyone gives the Chen Family face, no matter how big or small the issue. Even the Hex Family, Macau’s local tyrants, are no exception!” In his eyes, only the Hex Family was somewhat formidable in Macau, on the same level as Hong Kong’s Five Great Tycoon Families. The rest were just trash, not even worth mentioning.

”The Hex Family of Macau? I don’t know them... That’s perfect. Help me look into something. A good friend of mine was set up and lost one hundred million in Macau. He’s being detained there now. I don’t know the casino, but my friend’s surname is Hua, and his name is Hua Zhinan. Help me find out what happened,” Chen Fei said immediately.

”What? I understand, Mr. Chen. Please wait a moment. I’ll make a call right now to check on the situation. Rest assured, I should have good news for you in ten minutes, tops,” Chen Yaoyang said, shocked. He quickly patted his chest in assurance.

This was no joke. Mr. Chen’s ’brother’ had been scammed out of one hundred million in Macau. This was a huge deal; no wonder he had called personally! Naturally, Chen Yaoyang didn’t dare take it lightly.

He hung up and immediately ordered his subordinates to investigate. With Hua Zhinan’s name and the exact figure of one hundred million lost at a casino, it was a simple matter to look into. However, he soon discovered that the casino holding Hua Zhinan was under the protection of the Hex Family of Macau.

As Macau’s most powerful local gambling family, the Hex Family naturally had friction with outside forces like the Five Great Tycoon Families. Normally, if an ordinary friend had asked him for this favor, he might have given up at this point, too lazy to call them just to be met with mockery. But this time… it was Chen Fei himself who had called. No matter how powerful Chen Yaoyang was, he wouldn’t dare utter a word about giving up. He got on it right away.

He promptly dialed the number of He Che, the son of the current Family Head of the Hex Family of Macau.

「Meanwhile, on the terrace of a top tycoon club’s villa in Macau.」

A square-faced man in his thirties, wearing beach shorts, a leopard-print shirt, and a gold chain as thick as a thumb, laughed loudly at a younger man nearby. ”Young Master Junn, how have you been enjoying your time here these past few days?”

”It’s been alright...” the other young man replied with a smirk, his face a mask of arrogance and conceit. Then his voice turned cold. ”If it weren’t for that insolent brat from a few days ago, this Macau trip you arranged for me would have been perfect, He Che.”

”Don’t worry, Young Master Junn, I haven’t forgotten your instructions,” the man in the leopard-print shirt said with a sinister smile. ”I had someone set that kid up yesterday. With just a few tricks, he lost a hundred million in the casino! If his family can come up with the money to free him, great. If not, hehe… Young Master Junn, what do you say we toss him into my family’s ’water park’ to feed the crocodiles?”

”What about the jadeite?” the young man known as Young Master Junn asked nonchalantly, his lips curling into a sneer.

”Of course, it’s right here.” The man in the leopard-print shirt immediately brought out a box, opening it to reveal a large piece of jadeite. It was the same piece Chen Fei had previously carved out on the top floor of Shawan Club.

”Not bad. It’s a fine piece,” Young Master Junn said with a proud smile. He took the jadeite from the box and examined it closely, clearly fond of it.

Seeing this, the other man grinned. ”Since you like it, Young Master Junn, why not take it back for your collection?” It was obvious he had acquired the piece for him; otherwise, he had no interest in such trinkets and wouldn’t have gone through the trouble of ’getting’ it. To him, a piece of jadeite worth a mere ten million was insignificant.

”My collection? No. I only wanted to buy it by force that day. Now that I’ve ’got’ it, I’m not interested anymore,” the young man said, casually tossing the jadeite into a corner like a worthless stone.

”Heh, then we...” The man in the leopard-print shirt didn’t seem to mind. He was about to make a sleazy suggestion with a lewd grin, but he was interrupted by his ringing phone.

”Chen Yaoyang?” he muttered, pulling out his phone. Seeing the name on the caller ID, his expression turned odd.

Their Hex Family of Macau was not on good terms with Hong Kong’s Five Great Tycoon Families. It was one thing to not see each other, but for one of them to suddenly call him out of the blue was puzzling. Still, no matter how hostile their relationship was, the caller was the acting head of the Chen Family, one of Hong Kong’s most powerful clans. Not even He Che dared to take Chen Yaoyang lightly.

”Young Master Junn, I need to take this call,” he said apologetically to the young man. He then walked into the club, answered the phone, and spoke coldly, ”Hello, Chen Yaoyang? I don’t recall us being on friendly terms. What do you want?”
