High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1141: Chapter 203 Beretta Double-Barrel

You must never mention gifts from other girls in front of your girlfriend; it’s a line you simply don’t cross.

Even a dummy like Zheng Qing knew how dangerous this red line was.

So when he heard Elena’s question, although he remained outwardly calm, his heart panicked, unsure of how to respond. Even though he had no ulterior motives when he accepted those two gifts, he now felt quite uneasy.

Fortunately, Elena did not dwell on this issue.

Her attention quickly shifted from ’who gave the gift’ to ’why the school confiscated the charm gun’.

”Also, why would the school take your charm gun?” The witch frowned slightly, puzzled by the school’s announcement: ”If the fu bullet is truly powerful, shouldn’t the school confiscate your fu bullets instead?”

Touching the tip of his nose, Zheng Qing breathed a sigh of relief but hesitated whether to tell the witch about the blood symbol bullets—but even if he wanted to explain, it wouldn’t be clear. Because he himself didn’t know why the fu bullets were so powerful.

The boy finally gave an awkward smile and vaguely said, ”My fu bullets are a bit special; they couldn’t confiscate them... so they had to take away my charm guns. It’s okay, though, I still have my slingshot, which can be somewhat helpful if needed. And because the fu bullets are so powerful, many of the inscriptions on those two charm guns were worn off. The school said they’d fix them for me when they took them.”

The witch puffed out her cheeks in surprise, which was somewhat cute.

”I have a charm gun here, a Beretta Double-Barrel that’s a bit old, but still works well. Do you want to borrow it for emergencies, just in case?” she suggested.

Zheng Qing immediately burst into laughter:

”You just promised Xiao Xiao you wouldn’t let me break school rules... and it’s only been a few minutes.”

Elena picked up the ”Standard Talisman” and unexpectedly smacked the warlock on the arm: ”Ungrateful as a scoundrel, you can’t recognize kindness! I’m giving you the gun for self-defense, who told you to go shooting at will?!”

Zheng Qing pretended to cry out in pain, and the witch abruptly stopped.

Zheng Qing caught her retracting arm, slowly moved it to her hand, and then, holding her hand, brought it near his mouth, feeling the softness in his grasp and inhaling the faint fragrance wafting into his nostrils.

”To keep staying in school and be with you, I’d better keep my distance from charm guns,” the boy had learned to say some sweet nothings after months of being in love.

A blush spread over Elena’s face, and she forcefully pulled her hand back, muttering, ”Honest my foot... If you’d said you were honest half a year ago, it would have made some sense.”

Watching the witch’s every smile and frown, Zheng Qing couldn’t help but think of the distant, silent figure in the Silent Forest. He thought of the dangers she was about to face.

This Saturday, they were set to begin exploring that secret realm; although the Sandbox World’s dangers seemed to have been cleared by Mr. Wu, as Zheng Qing remembered, heaven knows what strange things might have emerged after it evolved into a real Secret Realm World.

As a black cat, Zheng Qing’s abilities in that secret realm were very limited.

But as a wizard, his range of operations was much wider.

”Xin Fat Man mentioned you’ve been hanging around North Beta Town lately?” The warlock touched his nose again, casually speaking: ”Xin Fat Man took on a long-term investigation task with the Campus Newspaper, so he often goes there... North District is dangerous, right?”

Elena’s smile momentarily stiffened, then melted away.

”A friend lives there, Sister Korma, whom you probably know,” she said, collecting her textbooks and notes from the table in a steady tone: ”Actually, North District isn’t as terrifying as the rumors suggest, mostly full of tricksters; many can’t even conjure a large fireball, so what danger could there be?”

”In this world, those who have nothing are often more dangerous than those with concerns,” Zheng Qing shook his head, rummaged in the grey cloth bag at his waist for a moment, and then extended his hand in front of Elena, opening his palm.

In the center of his palm lay a shiny talisman bullet, its body wrapped in vermillion runes, the tip a bright red exuding a chilling aura, particularly striking. The entire talisman bullet flickered with a mysterious glow in the quiet classroom.

”This is the kind of fu bullet I was talking about,” said Zheng Qing, ”Luckily, you also have a charm gun, take it with you, just in case, next time you go to North Beta Town.”

Elena looked at him in surprise, unmoving.

Zheng Qing took her hand without explanation, stuffed the blood symbol bullet into her palm, and then forcefully closed her hand as if he had finally let out a sigh of relief, ”Anyway, I won’t be using it recently, and this talisman bullet is about to expire... You’ve been running around in North District lately, take it, it makes me feel a bit more at ease.”

The witch bit her lip, clutching the talisman bullet, her arm remaining extended for a long time without retracting.

Zheng Qing, worried she would still refuse, grabbed her hand and stuffed it into her handbag, meanwhile, he took out the deck of Tarot cards from her bag, chuckling, ”As a trade, help me read my fortune for the near future...”

Elena finally smiled.

”Didn’t you just finish a line drawing?” she hummed softly, ultimately not refusing the warlock’s kindness, and took over the deck of Tarot, skilfully shuffling the cards.

Her shuffling technique was extremely proficient, dozens of cards flipping and flying between her fingers without a single one turning over or being cut incorrectly, none falling to the ground, and the sight was rather pleasing.

”What would you like to ask?” Elena asked casually while shuffling.

Zheng Qing propped his chin, watching the focused witch in front of him, his gaze somewhat dreamy, and it took him a moment to respond to her question, ”Oh, the question... I wonder, um, will I be expelled from school this semester?”

Actually, his first thought was to ask about the dangers of the upcoming exploration of the secret realm on Saturday, but Zheng Qing quickly realized that Elena was also part of the exploration party—meaning that her divination would include herself, which is a taboo all diviners strenuously avoid—so in the final moment, Zheng Qing chose a different question.

Elena’s earlobes reddened a bit under Zheng Qing’s stare.

She scolded, ”Focus, and silently repeat your question in your heart... don’t just stare at me.”

”Looking at you, gives me the courage to ask this question,” the boy replied playfully but obediently followed the diviner’s instruction, shifting his gaze to the Tarot cards in her hands.

”Whoosh!”

Twenty-two cards from the Great Arcana slid out in a beautiful arc, resembling a blooming cherry blossom, arranged in front of Zheng Qing.

”Choose one,” Elena said softly.

Zheng Qing moved his fingers across the smooth backs of the cards, quietly sensing the aura hidden behind each one.

Then he chose the card situated directly between himself and Elena, gently pushing it forward, ”This one.”

Elena picked up the card, turned it over:

”Reversed, The World.”
