High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1119: Chapter 181 Kariel Tactics

”Kariel Tactics were created by the renowned demon-hunting strategist Perry Kariel. He used this tactic to command the Judgement Hunting Team in 1980 during the ’Campus Cup’ contest, sweeping through the four major college teams and the team of the First University, setting school records for the fastest wild Demon King kills, the highest number of demon kills, and the fewest losses of hunting team members,”

”His many records still have not been completely surpassed by the successors at the First University even thirty years later,”

”The essence of Kariel Tactics can be summed up in one sentence: the strong can take advantage of the weak, and the smart can take advantage of the strong.”

”In three words, it would be ’hunters move, hunting team moves, coordinated unity’... This tactic greatly tests the overall coordination abilities and tacit understanding of the hunting team.”

”’Hunters move’ means that when the prey is not visible, the hunters should position themselves, make blind cuts, and reverse run—always taking advantage of the dominant positions within the hunting ground, always ready to retreat and support other hunters, always on alert!”

”’Hunting team moves’ means that the entire hunting team should always be able to maintain a loose hunting array and that the exchange of information is continuous.”

”Among these, ’reverse run’ is the most striking skill of the Kariel Tactics. The core of reverse running focuses on the ’exposed wandering hunter,’ who needs to manipulate the movements of the opposing hunting team through his own positioning, creating the best ambush plan for his own team. In practice, reverse running and blind cuts complement each other, and both skills must be able to switch proficiently...”

In the pavilion, Doctor Xiao held a thin bamboo stick, pointing at a whiteboard hanging on the pavilion post, explaining the key points of Kariel Tactics to the hunters of the hunting team.

The two little witches squatted on the side, one holding a cat, the other holding a fox, exchanging their experiences in raising pets.

Zheng Qing was very skeptical about what kind of ideas they could exchange—according to what Zheng Qing knew, the pigeon Li Meng raised always found its own food, and the little white cat in her arms definitely was not raised by her; in terms of Su Ya and Poseidon, it seemed more like a playmate.

Neither Zheng Qing nor Su Shi Jun had ever entrusted the responsibility of feeding and caring for Poseidon to the little girl Su Ya. That would have been too difficult for her.

Zheng Qing was a Wandering Hunter and he also had patrolling duties, so he didn’t stay in the pavilion the whole time listening to Xiao Xiao analyze the tactics. Every fifteen minutes or half an hour, he had to wander around the corridor, ensuring that the Fishmen in the lake didn’t climb out of the water to cause trouble today.

And the Absolution Hunting Team never just stayed in the pavilion listening to the ’Heavenly Book.’

Every time Xiao Xiao finished analyzing the tactical points, the hunters always took advantage of the fresh concepts and took the team out to turn around, to practice and turn knowledge into real insight. Zheng Qing joined in the training whenever he had time, and went on patrols when he didn’t.

When he returned from his third patrol, the Absolution Hunting Team had not yet returned from their training. In the pavilion, there were only two little witches and the two little animals.

Seeing the two little witches sit on the long bench in the pavilion, cuddling close to each other, almost falling asleep, along with the little fox and the little cat hiding in their arms already asleep, the young fee student finally couldn’t help but asked:

”What did you two actually come here for today?”

”To watch you,” Li Meng mumbled back in a daze.

The little white cat, that was dozing off in her arms, flicked its ears and lifted its paw, without even lifting its head slapped the little witch’s face, waking her up.

After receiving a slap, Li Meng was immediately startled awake, immediately opened her eyes wide, and corrected herself, ”I mean, to supervise your patrolling... and to observe your hunting team training!”

Zheng Qing looked at her skeptically, then glanced at the little white cat in her arms, deciding to momentarily set aside the doubts in his heart. He then turned his gaze towards Su Ya.

Compared to the Little Witch, the response from the Little Fox Lady was much simpler.

”Walking the dog,” Su Ya wrapped herself in her white, fine wool cloak, humming as she twisted her body while reaching to scratch her large tail that drooped at her side—because the physical structure of a fox lady differs from that of an Ordinary Wizard, sitting for long periods made her tail swell and become very itchy.

Poseidon, however, seemed dissatisfied with Su Ya’s response and chittered twice, lifting his snout.

Su Ya glanced down at Little Fox, gave an ”oh” sound, and corrected herself, ”It’s not walking the dog... it’s taking the fox for a stroll.”

Zheng Qing, listening to the argument between Little Fox and Little Fox Lady, twitched his mouth, and casually reached into the embrace of Little Fox Lady, grabbing Little Fox by the scruff of its neck and pulling it out.

The chill of the deep night was intense, and being suddenly yanked from the warmth of an embrace into the cold wind was a very cruel thing. Poseidon screamed, whipped his large tail, grabbed Zheng Qing’s hand, and darted under his cloak nearby.

Only half of his nose was left shivering under the night sky.

”Wait a moment, you’re coming with me on patrol. Don’t always hide in the young lady’s embrace when you go out late at night,” Zheng Qing said, tapping Poseidon’s nose to inform him.

Little Fox whined, twisting his body unwillingly.

”If you’re unwilling, then why come out? I’ll teach you a lesson, don’t go out late at night next time!” Zheng Qing sneered repeatedly.

It wasn’t until this moment that Su Ya realized the little creature had been pulled from her arms. Startled, she jumped up and shouted at Zheng Qing, ”How could you do this!”

”Do what?” The young state-funded student glanced at her, reminding, ”This is my fox, isn’t it?”

Little Fox Lady was at a loss for words for a moment, then placed her hands on her hips and exclaimed, ”I mean... I mean, how could you just reach into a girl’s embrace like that!”

”Don’t make me sound like a pervert, hey!” Zheng Qing, startled by the harsh accusation, looked around and then whispered harshly, ”I only touched Poseidon!”

”Pervert? Where’s the pervert?” Not far away, a few hunters from the Absolution Hunting Team who had just finished a round of practice approached the gazebo; Zhang Ji Xin took off his knuckle dusters and asked with a chuckle.

Zheng Qing immediately pulled Poseidon from under his cloak and stuffed him back into Little Fox Lady’s arms. Su Ya hurriedly wrapped Little Fox snugly in her fine wool cloak.

Being pulled back and forth continuously, alternating between cold wind and warmth, even a piece of dead meat would get angry, let alone Poseidon.

Little Fox yelped, struggled out of Su Ya’s arms, whipped his tail, and leaped onto the nearby bench, sitting sullenly next to Li Meng, puffing up at the male and female wizards in the gazebo.

Xiao Bai the cat finally couldn’t pretend to be asleep anymore, propped herself up, elegantly flicked her tail, and meowed comfortingly.

Zheng Qing cleared his throat, turned to his companions and said, ”I mean... those Fishmen in the lake, are they born alive or hatched from eggs? Do they always have fish tails, or do they grow them later? Are Fishmen like frogs, also belonging to metamorphic creatures?”
