High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1125: Chapter 87: Thousands of Troops Come to Meet (Part 1)

When Zheng Qing aimed the Colt Silver Python at Sepulano, the Fat Wizard was secretly mocking Zheng Qing in his heart.

Indeed, as a novice who hadn’t been through many hunts, he didn’t know that the best choice in the face of such a curse attack was to cast a spell head-on, or secondly to turn tail and run. If not, waste an amulet and hide under a turtle shell. Although this would forfeit the initiative, it could also nicely avoid the risks.

Rather, planning to interrupt his spell-casting with a Fu Bullet or some other spells was foolishness at its finest.

Even without considering the several amulets he wore, Sepulano was absolutely confident that he could land his curse on the opponent before Zheng Qing’s Fu Bullet could fully take effect, and then he could leave leisurely.

But when the Charm Gun fired, a blood-coloured Fu Bullet burst from the barrel and struck him, Sepulano knew he had made a huge mistake.

The size of the Fu Bullet was inconspicuous, and its speed out of the barrel roughly discernible. The only thing that took Sepulano by surprise was the massive pressure, overwhelming and suffocating, accompanying the blood glow that enveloped the Fu Bullet.

Damned foolishness!

Damned Blood Symbol!

Damned power!

Sepulano was completely justified in believing that this Fu Bullet was a talisman crafted by some unknown Big Wizard using their own blood. Heavens pity, was it just a minor conflict in the school that warranted wasting such a precious talisman? Had Zheng Qing’s brain been gnawed by zombies?!

For a moment, Sepulano didn’t know whether he should feel honored for attracting such a Fu Bullet or complain about the lack of emergency training for new hunting teams at the school, or perhaps feel sad that he couldn’t escape the Fu Bullet’s attack.

...

...

Unlike Sepulano, who was in dire straits,

the moment he pulled the trigger, Zheng Qing instinctively shouted to his teammates, ”Counter run!”

In his mind, after interrupting the opponent’s spell-casting, you theoretically should immediately mobilize your team’s hunters to switch formation and re-encircle the opponent and build an offensive strategy. The method for switching formation, for Zheng Qing, was now solely the Kariel Tactics.

Counter running was the essence of Kariel Tactics, the most-practiced part of tonight’s training for the Absolution Hunting Team. In a state of tension, the only thing Zheng Qing could think of was the Kariel Tactics mantra, ”The strong take advantage of the weak, the clever take advantage of the strong.”

Unfortunately, besides this phrase, he couldn’t remember any smart tactics. He could only think of ”counter run,” ”counter run,” and more ”counter run”—perhaps he really was a fool, Zheng Qing had a moment to pity and reproach himself.

After shouting, Zheng Qing suddenly realized what he had done.

He had just used a Fu Bullet wrapped in a suppression blood symbol to deal with Sepulano!

The consequences of the last use of a Blood Symbol Bullet were still vivid for the young public expense student—a descendant of Satoguya, over five meters tall with a huge frame and belligerent demeanor, had turned into a puddle of mush after that red light.

Even though Zheng Qing comforted himself countless times that it was a special case, perhaps that cursed beast was unlucky and had some unknown reaction with his blood, which caused it to explode into mush, it couldn’t cover up one fact.

That was, his blood-wrapped Fu Bullet had surprisingly great power.

But even as he reacted, it was already too late.

Zheng Qing saw the expression on Sepulano’s face shift from disdain to shock and finally to despair. Seeing his remorseful demeanor, Zheng Qing felt a strange sense of relief and even felt inclined to pull out his silver-cased pocket watch to check the time.

...

...

Hemingway was the third wizard to realize what had happened.

As the leader of the Lingzhong Lake Night Patrol Team, he was not like his predecessors who enjoyed drinking and walking dogs; he maintained the meticulous and serious demeanor of his teaching and magic research days while at work.

Thus, when the Absolution Hunting Team caught Sepulano red-handed, Hemingway immediately sensed something was off.

This was not difficult, for if these old fellows wished, there were few things within the school that could escape their notice. At most, it was just a matter of pretending not to know and pretending to have just found out.

However, Hemingway found himself in a quandary over the accidental encounter between the Jiuyou Academy Hunting Team and the Alpha students.

Indeed, he could immediately appear in that pavilion, scowl, and take that strapping Alpha student away, then issue him a demerit. But the old man doubted the effectiveness of such an action.

After all, those in Alpha Fortress were famously shameless—publicly crying honor above all, yet many of their actions were utterly without principle. If that fat man were led back to the fortress with a demerit, there was a good chance the other Alpha students would treat him as a hero.

After all, not every Alpha had the nerve to provoke Jiuyou Academy at such a critical time.

Beyond these considerations, the current chaotic situation in the school also influenced Hemingway’s judgment to some extent. Whether it was conflicts among students, debates between academies, or unrest among the Fishman and Horseman tribes, all had exhausted the already anxious School Works Committee.

Vice Principal Ruoyu, who managed the affairs of the School Works Committee, had more than once murmured privately to these old ones, suggesting that everyone turn a blind eye in similar conflicts, that it was best not to disturb the regular processes and create new, more troublesome issues.

Just like that conflict with the Horseman Tribe, it originally had nothing to do with the school, being purely a dispute between two external wizard-governed organizations—the Beta Town and the Horseman Tribe. However, when the Alpha students interjected, the mess stuck squarely on First University’s face.

Based on these multiple considerations, Hemingway decided to respond to unchanging events by observing the minor conflict for the time being. If the students could resolve it privately, it would be for the best.

But no sooner had this decision been made than the situation in the field changed drastically within thirty seconds.

For some unknown reason, the situation on the field suddenly deteriorated, and Zheng Qing, a Jiuyou Academy patrolman, fired the first shot, followed by a counterattack from the fat Alpha Wizard.

In the blink of an eye, both sides exchanged several rounds of combat, stirring up reactions with the steaming magic power. Even if Hemingway didn’t intervene, the other patrollers who arrived upon hearing the news and the Academy’s Guardian Formation could not ignore it.

Then, the old man saw the last bullet fired by Zheng Qing.

He saw that flash of red.

So, the old man uttered the only sentiment he had while observing the conflict tonight:

”Fuck!”
