High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 896: Chapter 244: The Origin of Anger

The winter hunting event at First University had nothing to do with Su Shijun.

Although she still held the title of guest professor at First University, it was merely for the convenience of moving about the campus, without any need for actual teaching or practice. Her main focus was still on the newly established Two-Dimensional Evolution Lab.

So, on the afternoon of December 26, when Zheng Qing took thousands of explosion charms out of a grey cloth bag, facing off against Fei Rui in Silent Forest, our Su Daxu had just woken up from a long nap. She was holding a chart, carefully selecting and marking the calories and nutrients of different foods, seriously contemplating whether she could have ten more calories worth of rice for dinner.

It was at that moment that a little fox shrieked and burst into her office.

”Squeak! Squeak squeak!”

Poseidon shrieked and zipped into Su Shijun’s office, spinning around her desk like a fuzzy, screaming top.

”Sorry, miss! We couldn’t stop it,”

The head maid, Su Shijun’s personal attendant, followed the little fox into the office, panting heavily, her face showing extreme embarrassment. Upon seeing Su Shijun, she didn’t say a word but immediately bowed deeply, ”I’m very sorry for interrupting your work!”

”Hmm, it’s okay, it’s okay,” Su Shijun waved her hand, gesturing for Su Man to stand up, showing great tolerance, ”Didn’t I tell you before that there’s no need to wait outside when Neptune comes... Hey, don’t bite my robe! Watch your manners! What are you trying to do?”

Poseidon firmly bit onto Su Shijun’s robe hem, struggling to drag her out of the office.

Su Daxu naturally wouldn’t be easily dragged around by a little fox. She just crooked her finger, and the previously scampering Poseidon was lifted up by an invisible pair of hands, brought right in front of the witch.

”Remember your status! Don’t run and bite like a wild cat... Perhaps I should have you join Su Ya for some etiquette training by the nannies, so you won’t end up unmarriageable when you grow up.”

Just like most people who had just woken up from an afternoon nap, at this moment, Su Daxu’s thoughts were clearly very scattered and active, which made it easy for her to connect the little fox’s impoliteness with its potential difficulty in finding a spouse, leading to a lonely life, old and with no one to rely on, and so on.

Clearly, Poseidon also knew what ’the nannies’ teaching’ meant.

So, it immediately quieted down and politely sat in front of Su Shijun, its fluffy tail elegantly coiling in front of itself, ears no longer flopping on its head but alert and perked up instead.

”That’s a good boy...” Su Shijun smiled and rubbed the top of the little fox’s head, then reached into the fruit plate on the table, took out a ripe strawberry, and stuffed it into the little fox’s mouth.

Thick juice immediately stained the corners of the little fox’s mouth red. Standing beside, Su Man quickly handed over a clean white towel.

After Su Shijun patiently wiped away the juice from the little fox’s mouth, she slowly asked, ”What’s the rush? Is something the matter?”

The previously calm little fox immediately widened its eyes, stood upright, and with the help of its little paws started gesturing while squealing nonstop.

Listening, Su Shijun’s expression gradually grew serious.

”Are you saying that a Tabby Cat found you and told you that Zheng Qing is about to run into big trouble?” Su Shijun furrowed her brows, trying to clarify the meaning Poseidon just conveyed.

The little fox nodded its head quickly, confirming that this was the case.

”You’ve seen this Yellow Flowered Cat at the D&K opening ceremony, and Zheng Qing also said that she’s quite familiar with it?”

The Little Fox nodded repeatedly, giving off an impression of having an excellent memory.

”And then this cat told you, the Little Fox, to find me, saying that the school is short-staffed and can’t spare anyone, so they want me to help Zheng Qing with her troubles?” Su Shijun squinted, her tone growing increasingly bizarre.

Clearly feeling that her mission was accomplished, the Little Fox’s attention began to drift towards the cherries in Su Daxu’s fruit bowl, although she kept nodding, now somewhat absentmindedly.

Su Shijun took a deep breath and finally confirmed, ”And that cat also said that if I don’t help, I would become a widow?!!”

Su Man, who had been standing quietly to one side, twitched her eyelids. Her already faint breathing became even quieter, and her figure seemed to unintentionally shift back a little, blending into a small shadow cast by the adjacent bookshelf.

Only the Little Fox remained cheerfully oblivious, and upon hearing Su Shijun’s description, it corrected her with intent ’squeaks’.

”Oh, so it’s not just that I’ll become a widow, but you too will become a child without a father, is that it?” Su Shijun was fuming, but her expression turned eerily calm—if this were a comic book, at this moment, Su Daxu would be shrouded in large patches of black shadow, and a cross-shaped vein might even appear throbbing on her forehead.

The Little Fox, swishing its large tail, kept pecking its head like a chick, while it repeatedly glanced at the fruit bowl to indicate its strong interest in certain small fruits inside.

The Head Maid, hiding in the shadow of the bookshelf, lowered her head and sighed silently, lighting a stick of incense for the Little Fox in her heart.

”Eat, eat, eat, all you think about is eating!” Su Shijun stretched out both hands, grabbed Poseidon’s cheeks, and began to vigorously knead them while roaring without any grace, ”I’m a peerless beauty, stunning and enchanting, causing fish to sink and birds to fall, making the moon shy and flowers envious. And now I’m called a widow by a dead cat?!! That’s utterly insane! Total lawlessness!”

”Even a cat knows who your dad is! And you still have the appetite to eat?!”

”You’re only thinking about eating, aren’t you worried that tomorrow when you leave the Pet Garden, someone will bag you, bonk you on the head, and then ask me for ransom? Aren’t you afraid of being captured for blood drawing, soul extraction, and Magic Artifact creation?!”

Poseidon was startled by Su Daxu’s bellowing, his tail going stiff.

After hanging limply for a few seconds, he finally shook his tail and gave Su Shijun a cheerfully oblivious smile.

Upon seeing its smile, the anger of the previously enraged Su Daxu dissipated significantly.

Feeling the atmosphere in the room lightening, the Head Maid, who had been standing in the shadow of the bookshelf, stepped forward and asked softly, ”Miss, should we inform Dean Yao?”

”No need,” Su Shijun calmed down, grabbed Poseidon by the hind legs, stuffed him into her own fruit bowl, then watched as the Little Fox’s head was covered in fruit juice and instructed, ”I’m going out for a bit... You stay here, keep an eye on him and don’t let him out. Wait for me to come back, or for Zheng Qing to pick him up.”

”Since even a cat knows the school is short-staffed, seeking help from Old Yao probably won’t do much good.”

As she spoke, the Witch was already standing at the office door.

The Head Maid smoothly took out a thick Red Cloak and draped it over her mistress.

Su Shijun adjusted the collar and a cold smile appeared on her face, ”...I really want to see who is trying to turn me into a widow!”
