High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 855: Chapter 203 The Last Guest

Su Shijun mentioned the Trishula Commissioner and the patrol team from the First University’s School Works Committee before she left, but they ultimately did not appear in Zheng Qing’s little shop.

Perhaps she was bluffing Duke Milton at the time, adding extra pressure on him.

But it’s also possible that the witch notified those two parties before she left, conveniently removing any follow-up trouble for the small shop.

Overall, when Zheng Qing faced the fact that Yellow Flowered Cat had left without saying goodbye, the atmosphere inside and outside the shop had already returned completely to its previous calm and tranquility.

”Today is a great day for your shop’s opening, don’t be so down!”

The Gypsy witch slapped the cost student hard on the shoulder and said with a smile, ”Look at me, a whole deck of Tarot cards turned into ash, and I’m not upset, am I?”

As she spoke, she casually pointed to a small heap of ashes not far from the shelves.

That was the only trace left after she used the Tarot cards to block Duke Milton’s blood flames.

Not far from that small heap of ashes, there were several broken pieces of jade, formerly belonging to Jiang Yu; next to the jade shards lay half a leftover dried fish, which had belonged to Yellow Flowered Cat.

Seeing these lingering traces, Zheng Qing suddenly realized another thing he had overlooked.

”Ah, crap!”

The warlock slapped his own head hard, his face full of annoyance: ”I was only focused on greeting the customers, busy with the shop, and I almost forgot about this matter. Don’t worry, your Tarot cards and amulets...”

”Stop! Stop!” Elena hit Zheng Qing’s mouth with a punch, smashing back the words he was about to say.

The young cost student’s face immediately turned bright red.

In the midst of the crowd, in the midst of the crowd, he muttered to himself, involuntarily glancing at the others nearby.

Xiao Xiao was still patiently haggling with the two Mice over trade negotiations, head down fiddling with the abacus, completely unaware of the commotion on Zheng Qing’s side; and Xin Fat Man along with Li Meng and others were happily engaged in taking photos with several cats, also not paying attention to their surroundings.

The only one standing next to the two, Jiang Yu, seemed to have not seen Elena’s punch, her expression very calm.

This slowly eased the panic in Zheng Qing’s heart.

As for Elena, she eventually became belatedly aware that her actions had been somewhat inappropriate, kept a straight face, laughed it off, and after making some small talk, promptly whisked herself away.

Her robes billowing, like a fiery red butterfly.

And then this red butterfly encountered a late-arriving customer at the shop’s entrance.

”Ah, Miss Jones from The Gypsy Witch Coven, long time no see.” The tall, slender wandering wizard pulled at the brim of his floppy hat and politely greeted her.

Elena glanced at him, said nothing, just nodded silently, then sidestepped past the elder wizard.

The wandering wizard’s nostrils flared slightly a few times, and the corners of his mouth suddenly curled up.

”I can tell you’ve put a lot of effort into that kid,” he suddenly spoke up, his voice barely above a whisper. ”However, if I were you, I wouldn’t use Fire Ash Snake eggs in a Love Potion, and I’d replace Rose Thorns with Yao Grass... Of course, of course, the old formulas all use them, but now, this is a new world, isn’t it?”

Elena’s previously light footsteps suddenly halted, and she stopped.

The Wandering Wizard slightly smiled as well, ceased walking, leisurely straightened his clothes, and looked towards the Gypsy witch with a beaming smile.

Elena slowly turned her head back.

”Do you think I should be panicking right now?” she asked, staring at the Wandering Wizard’s wrinkled old face.

”It was just a small suggestion, no need for such a reaction,” the oily Wandering Wizard said. ”If you don’t mind, the Wandering Bar can provide you with various formulas for Love Potions... especially ones suited for the constitution of Easterners.”

He emphasized the words ”Eastern people” particularly heavily.

”What would I need to pay in return then?” the witch tilted her head, seeming quite interested. ”Blood? Hope? The future? Or perhaps the soul?”

”That would depend on your determination and needs,” the Wandering Wizard replied without a drop of leakage.

Elena tugged at the corner of her mouth, revealing a cold sneer.

”Sure enough, rumors always reflect the truth,” she said with a sarcastic tone, ”You’re not like a Black Wizard, you are one... No decent wizard would answer my offer the way you did.”

Finally, the Wandering Wizard stopped smiling.

He slightly furrowed his brows, paused for a few seconds, then said, ”I thought your experiences would make you a bit more mature... at least you should learn to show respect when facing powerful beings.”

”You’re not him, and I don’t care about the declining witch coven behind you, or some shadow gasping for life within a seal... The only reason worth my time standing here and wasting my breath on you is the connection you accidentally established with him. You should learn to cherish that bit of connection.”

”As for the Black Wizard or decent wizard you mentioned... I must say, you’re still too young.”

”Black and white are just definitions we give to different colors. Just like good and evil... Isn’t it absurd to define the Great Thousand Worlds, the Wild Universe with a human society’s moral code?”

”Even Newton’s laws of mechanics have their applicable limits, let alone the more delicate and intricate world of human hearts.”

”What are you talking about? Did I just hear you mention Newton? I didn’t hear wrong, did I?” Zheng Qing approached from the back of the store, calling out from a distance, ”Do wizards study Newton’s mechanics too?”

”Wizards study everything, as long as it’s connected to the truth of this world,” Xiao Xiao chimed in from behind the counter, lifting his head to interject.

The young sponsored student immediately raised both hands, fully agreeing, then backed away directly toward the door.

When he reached the doorway, the Gypsy witch had already left, leaving only the tall and skinny Wandering Wizard behind, carrying a box of pastries in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other.

”A belated blessing.” The Wandering Wizard raised the bottle of wine, his face showing an appropriately measured smile, ”I must admit, old age makes one crave tranquility... and it has been too lively here today for an old man like me to handle.”

Zheng Qing, sensing the radiant fragrance in the air, felt empty inside.

”Ah,” he sighed reluctantly, forcing a smile, ”Welcome, welcome... blessings are never too late. It’s good that you came late, had you come earlier, that shabby old hat of yours might have been burned by Duke Milton.”

”Oh? Really?!” the Wandering Wizard’s face showed a genuinely interested expression. ”The rotating Clan Leader from Karen’s family came? He was here too, eh...”

”Don’t talk with that tone like you’ve never heard of it,” Zheng Qing rolled his eyes. ”At the very least, I’m your gold card customer. What can’t the Wandering Bar do? I bet the moment Duke Milton stepped foot on Buji Island, news about him started flying all over the Wandering Bar, right?”
