High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 892: Chapter 240 The situation is a bit complicated

The suggestion that followed was a real knee-slapper. Even Zheng Qing, who made the suggestion, couldn’t help but shiver and shake his head, abandoning his own idea right after he said it.

But one of the four unwelcome guests clearly took the suggestion seriously.

”Can I go down and stomp my feet?” Bull Head blinked, shaking his head enthusiastically as he looked towards his companions, ”Why don’t we go down? Standing up here the whole time, the cold wind has frozen my horns stiff.”

Zheng Qing’s mouth twitched, and for a moment he didn’t know how to respond—he really wanted to mock Bull Head because bull horns are naturally stiff. What difference does it make if they are chilled by the wind?

Considering the difference in their identities, Zheng Qing eventually gave up on this idea.

In contrast to him, Bull Head’s companion was very decisive.

The seductive snake woman said nothing. Her black cloak billowed as she swung her thick tail, knocking the talkative creature off the branch. Bull Head’s wish was granted, and he made it to the ground.

Only, he landed head down and didn’t get to warm himself by stomping his feet as he had wished.

After crawling out of the snow pit, Bull Head didn’t try to climb back onto the branch but instead went straight to a thick pine tree, lowered his head, and rubbed his horns against the tree’s rough, greasy bark.

The fine pine needles rustled as they fell with each push from Bull Head, layering the snow-covered ground with a long-lost green. Under the moonlight, this bizarre scene had its own charm.

After rubbing one side, and then turning to rub the other, Bull Head turned around, his large, bell-like eyes directly meeting the Young Cost Student’s unwavering gaze.

”Horns are like the fangs of vampires, they need to be polished from time to time to be kept in good condition,” Bull Head said casually, waving his hand at Zheng Qing, ”Do you want to give it a try?”

”That’s not the point!” Zheng Qing sighed with a head full of black lines: ”And besides, I don’t have horns.”

”Oh, right, you don’t have horns!” Bull Head said, as if it had just dawned on him.

Such silliness was astonishing. Zheng Qing looked up to see the reaction of the others on the branch, but to his surprise, the other three figures seemed to turn a blind eye to their companion’s clownish behavior below. They continued to stare fixedly at Zheng Qing, without any other actions.

This made the Young Cost Student even more uneasy and confused.

”What exactly are you here for?” He stood up, dusting off the snowflakes from his clothes, and tentatively took a step towards the Minotaur, ”Robbery? Kidnapping for ransom? Murder? Surely you didn’t come all this way just for a mime performance!”

While talking, his hand seemed to inadvertently rest on the small of his back, seemingly stretching his muscles from sitting too long, but actually, his hand was on the grip of his Colt Python gun.

There were six Binding Spell bullets left in the magazine, which Zheng Qing regretted—he felt he should have packed in some more powerful Fu Bullets. But at least there were the six Binding Spells, one for each, plus two to spare, which should be enough to get him some distance away.

Indeed, from the start, Zheng Qing had no intention of meekly being captured by these people, nor did he plan to single-handedly take on four mysterious intruders. His only thought was to slip away unnoticed while they weren’t paying attention.

Given that they only put Thomas and the others to sleep, Zheng Qing realized that now wasn’t the time for him to play the hero. All he needed to do was to take care of himself.

As long as he escaped the other party’s line of sight, with the stack of talismans in the grey cloth bag, each with its different uses, he was one percent confident that he could evade their pursuit—afterward, whether he found the opportunity to rush back to school for reinforcements or waited until the enemy was forced to retreat, Zheng Qing hadn’t thought that far yet.

Fifty meters.

Another fifty meters ahead, and Zheng Qing was more than fifty percent sure that he could fire four shots and hit those four uninvited guests.

If he could get within fifty meters of those four, he even felt he could raise his success rate to ninety percent, or possibly even higher.

With this somewhat naive thought, the young cost student supported his waist, twisted his hips, and pretended to exercise his limbs, slowly approaching the minotaur under the tree.

But he hadn’t taken three steps when a broad, thick hand landed on his shoulder.

”Don’t waste your effort trying to test the waters, and don’t even think about escaping from here,” a familiar voice suddenly rang out from behind the young cost student, startling him: ”This space has been peeled away from the Silent Forest by a great mana, unless the person in control voluntarily lets go, or our several principals and deans work together, no one can easily pull us out from here.”

”Actually, breaking the spatial barrier is easy, and you can casually pull out a dozen wizards from the school to do this,” another familiar voice added from the side: ”However, breaking the spatial barrier while keeping the lives inside safe isn’t that easy... Only a Big Wizard with powerful mana, or even a higher existence, could possibly achieve such a delicate operation.”

Zheng Qing slowly turned his stiff neck and looked back.

The one who had stopped him was Thomas, who had just been sound asleep. Next to Thomas, including Zhang Yu and Hilda, the other teaching assistants also quietly stood up, silently sizing up the four unwelcome visitors across from them.

The ones who had spoken were Thomas and Hilda.

Noticing the shocked look on the young wizard’s face, Hilda cheerfully waved at him.

”The thought was good, the choice correct, and the courage commendable,” the practice class teaching assistant said as he pointed at Zheng Qing’s hand hidden behind him, resting on the handle of his gun—clearly, he was well aware of the young cost student’s intentions—but he immediately added, ”However, the school wouldn’t encourage this kind of risky behavior... It’s a bit too brash.”

As if to clarify further, Hilda walked up to Zheng Qing, took his charm gun, and made a demonstrative gesture, explaining, ”Your movement just now was too big, any opponent with a bit of vigilance wouldn’t ignore your exaggerated action... In this kind of situation, if you still want to use a charm gun, then you should learn the gun-drawing techniques of the American Western Wizard.”

”A Silent Spell would be more appropriate,” Thomas obviously disagreed with his partner’s view: ”Gun-drawing skills can’t be mastered in a year and a half, but as long as a wizard has enough talent, learning a Silent Spell only takes a week.”

”If I were you two, I’d first explain clearly to Zheng Qing what just happened,” Zhang Yu’s gentle voice rose behind the two teaching assistants: ”Otherwise, our vigilant cost student here is about to toss an Anti-evil charm on both of your faces.”

Upon hearing this, Zheng Qing’s hand, which had just stealthily reached into the grey cloth bag, immediately froze at the opening of the bag.

He carefully swallowed and chuckled dryly at Thomas and Hilda.

”It’s not an Anti-evil charm,” the young warlock subconsciously defended, ”It’s just a Calm Heart Talisman... I mean, things are a bit chaotic, the situation is a bit complicated, I just want some tranquility.”

”Tsk... What a heartbreaking matter,” Hilda sighed dramatically, and turned to walk back to the end of the line: ”Thomas, the explanation is up to you. I need some tranquility too... to reflect on why my own student wouldn’t trust me.”
